Washington, DC AI Live! Show – Fergie’s Recap

Fergie attended the DC show last night. Read her recap below:

You want to find out who your real friends are, just ask them to go to a Pop Tarts concert
with you. First I must confess that I’m a David Cook fan . What can I say…. He had Me “Hello”. Anyway, Friend #1 also a huge D.C. fan refused to be in the vicinity of a overgrown pop tart and squealing tweens. But when D.C. goes solo, she’s buying the tickets. Something to look forward to at least. Friend #2 hemmed and hawed so much before she said no that I thought she was having a seizure. Friend #3 claims to watch only the History channel and PBS. Total snob that one. Finally #2’s 20.yo daughter took pity on me and agreed to come, we had great seats Stage left , row 11 . The Mavid Side Yeah . OK. I think I’m rambling already. On with the Review:

CHIKEZIE: He was wonderful. Beautiful soulful voice and a lot of stage presence and energy. People were on their feet his whole set. His joy in performing is infectious.

RAMIELE: I wasn’t expecting much considering some of the other reviews on this site as well as others. But she was good, not great but good. She has a big voice that wasn’t drowned out by the band, who were on fire all night by the way. She did a cute dance routine with her first song and worked both ends of the catwalk and she’s cute as a button. Not too many people on their feet through.

MJ: OK , 2nd confession, I never understood the uproar when MJ was eliminated. The man is cute with a to die for accent but he never really established a musical identity like the some of the others. Brooke, Jason and of course David C. for instance. Not to mention the ego got a little out of control with the ” I should have finished 4th” business. Buuutt, the man brought the house down. People were rockin’ during his whole set. He defiantly has the charisma to front his own band.

KRISTY LEE: Oh boy. What to say? WHAT to say? If ass shaking and hair tossing are indicators of talent, then this girl is golden. I have to say, in a city where everyone works for the government or is related to someone who does, KLC’s rendition of God Bless America was a crowd pleaser. I even saw older men with their hands over their hearts OR maybe they were having heart palpations from all the ass shaking.

CARLY: Carly was my second favorite of the season. It was clear at the start of her set that her ear monitor wasn’t working but she hit every big note, bantered with the audience in her lovely accent and she was stunning and very well received by Wash D.C. I wish the controversy with her having a previous recording deal and her obvious need to please Simon had not happened because she deserved to have gone further on the show.

BROOKE: I honestly did not get into Brooke on AI, frankly near the end I was fearing for her mental health. My how things change. Brooke was charming and very sweet. Her voice can certainly fill a arena. She got a well deserved ovation for Let it Be.

JASON: Jason’ s set was as mellow and pleasant as he seems to be. Needs to work on bantering with the audience. As close as we were whenever he spoke, it was a mumble. Jason earned the first high pitched calling all stray dogs squealing of the night.

SYESHA:
OH LO Confession #3, I had a bit of a girl crush on old Sy. In the beginning she seemed sweet and vulnerable. I thought the judges were often too harsh on her but somewhere along the way a certain creepy phoniness emerged and I closed my ears to her. Then in the final three she was mowed down by those bus driving penguins and felt bad for her but still had issues with her personality. Oh Lo, such conflicted feelings. Anyway, back to the review. Washington DC loves themselves a DIVA and Sy is no exception. Even the five guys behind me that were there for David C. were into her. She brought the house down with ” Listen” and received a rousing standing ovation. She seemed taken aback by it and just stood there basking in the glow. It was touching.

David A: Sorry Archies, During AI, I thought David A. was a technically good/great singer but I could never connect with him. But live in concert, the kid impressed me. Wash DC greeted Achie with huge applause before, during and after his set. “Stand By Me” and “Apologize ” were fantastic. I stood throughout his set except for the last slow “message” song.

David C: OK , When David comes out from under the stage for Hello, the place went CRAZY. People on their feet and stayed their the whole time. He was dressed in a suit and tie. Looked freaking HOT but I’m seriously disappointed in no lace up pants. I figured $58 of the $68 + ticketmaster fees that I paid was to see that fine booTAY in those pants, but oh well. He said he met with a congressional committee about cancer advocacy. LOVE him. Rockstar with a heart of gold. The great thing about watching David perform live is to listen to his banter with the audience. At one point he did an impression of Bill Clintons infamous ” it depends on what the meaning of is is” Everyone over 25 LOL. He was born to perform and he does it with complete ease and command. Like he’s talking to you and rocking out in your basement with his friends. Is It November yet? Me want new music.

The Mavid was a combo of flamenco dancing and bullfighting. I’m sure everyone has youtubed it by now , so i’ll just say Long Live the Mavid.

Oh Yeah, special thanks to the dumb ass two rows in front of me who set up a small camcorder on a freaking miniature tripod during Archie’s set and got busted , told not to do it again and then DID IT AGAIN during DC’s set which brought event security to hover over our section for the rest of the show. So no videos from me. But I had a great time and my friends daughter has now been Cookified.
