Today’s thread is brought to you by the numbers 1, 6, 8, 12, 100 and 458.
Kelly becomes the first Idol to achieve 100 number ones. This week, she added two number ones to her tally by topping the Digital Songs and Pop Digital charts. Kelly achieved her first number one back in 2002 with her coronation song “A Moment Like This” topping the Hot 100. The song set a record for the biggest jump to number one (52nd to 1st) on that chart breaking a record long held by The Beatles (set in 1964 with “Can’t Buy My Love”). She would go on to break her own record in 2009 with “My Life Would Suck Without You” (recently in the news) which jumped from 97th to 1st.
I’m going to give the entire list of number ones that Idols have achieved because it is totally awesome:

In other news, we have two reality singing show competitors in the top 10 of the Hot 100 this week. ZAYN’s “Pillowtalk” is immovable from the number 6 slot and Kelly Clarkson debuts “Piece by Piece” on the chart at 8th. This is the highest charting song from her current album. This is her 11th top 10 song. She sold 210K units of the song which accounted for 88% of her points. Go Kelly!
Rihanna’s “Work” (featuring Drake) continues to top the Hot 100 (almost doubling the points of the number two song so it will take a while to shake that song out of top). That extends the current drought for American artists to 35 weeks. Bieber’s “Love Yourself” stays steady at 2 (and has a convincing lead on the overall airplay charts). twenty one pilots’ “Stressed Out” hovers in third, but is starting to lose momentum so it is unlikely to hit 1. It did top the Pop charts which is rare-isn for a Rock song. Flo Rida’s “My House” is 4th and Bieber still has two songs in the top 5 with “Sorry”. Next up is the aforementioned ZAYN with G-Eazy’s “Me, Myself and I” at 7th and Kelly at 8th. Finally, we close out the top 10 with Danish sensations Lukas Graham’s “7 Years” (which is a worldwide hit and has just taken over the top of the iTunes chart) and DNCE’s “Cake by the Ocean” (I just found out the lead singer is a Jonas brother…)
Fifth Harmony’s “Work from Home” made a big leap onto the chart debuted at Number 12 which is their highest debut and ties their highest previous rank on that Hot 100. They moved 88K of the song for 5th on the download chart and got to 13th on the Streaming chart.
