The Masked Singer is back tonight on FOX with Group A Top 5 performances. ONE celebrity will be unmasked by audience vote before the end of the episode. After crazily costumed contestants are presented with clues, they will take the stage to perform a song. Then, it’s up to the judges and audience to guess who is behind the mask.
The remaining 4 Group A contestants performing tonight in the Group A CHAMPIONSHIPS, include Miss Monster, White Tiger, Kangaroo and Turtle. Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke sit on the panel, while Nick Cannon serves as host.
A total of 18 celebrities are set to compete in season 3, with the competition proceeding in rounds. Six celebrities will compete for three weeks in 3 sets that will eventually leave 9 celebrities to compete for the win.
Leah Remini appears tonight as a guest judge.
The show kicks off with the entire group A performing the KISS classic “I’m Gonna Rock n Roll All Night.” There are only 4 masks tonight. There’s time for that!
Tonight’s show is Valentines themed and features the friends/family of the celebrities in their clues package–disguised, of course.
Turtle
Clues – In his clue package, Turtle’s favorite teacher shares her thoughts on her former student. Turtle was in her 9th grade bio class. “He always came into my class singing,” she says. “He’s the most driven student I ever had,” she says as a map of North and South Korea flashes on the screen. Also, there are Greek letters written on an old fashioned chalkboard, and a glass encased bat. He recognized her when she ran into him recently. “He was still like that same sweet humble kid,” she says. “Turtle good luck on the show,” she says, “I hope you have the time of your life.” The teacher’s head is replaced by a shelf full of books. It’s sort of creepy!
Performance – There’s Nothing Holding Me Back by Shawn Mendes. If Turtle was still relevant, this is the kind of song he’d record. As it is, he has to settle with dressing up in a ridiculous costume. Having said that, he does have a very good pop voice. I think Turtle will be in this for awhile. Dude is working that stage like a boybander. Nicole calls it her favorite by him so far. Jenny is SURE Turtle is moving on. Valentine message from Turtle: “Hey Nicole. I’ll never forget the morning we spent together. It was Turtley awesome.” Obviously they did an appearance together. Jenny is sticking with Nick Lachey as a guess. Leah guesses Jaden Smith. Nicole thinks it’s Hunter Hayes. That’s actually a good guess! Wrong. But close.
Internet Consensus SAYS Turtle is Jesse McCartney – The Greek letters written on a chalkboard in his clue package points to Jesse appearing in a TV show called Greek. And a bat on the teachers desk is a reference to another show, “Young Justice” where he played Robin. The map of Seoul South Korea points to Jesse’s song “Beautiful Soul.”

Miss Monster
Clues: Miss Monster’s hairstylist weighs in. He calls Miss Monster his “spiritual mom.” He was 18 years old when he began working for her.”I was intimidated to meet her at first,” he says. A slice of pizza hangs from a clothes line. “Like many misunderstood monsters, she wasn’t scary at all,” he insists. ” There are also a pair of white sox hanging on the line. His first job for her was stepping in for a hairstylist that was late. All she had was a curling iron in her purse. He made it work. “Trust me,” he says, “you can’t hurry good hair.” He hints that her press hasn’t been good, but that she’s all about “spreading love.” And furthermore, “honey she can sang.”
Performance: You Don’t Own Me by Leslie Gore – Welp. She’s a major legendary diva. That much is sure. Her mature voice is super-recognizable too. This is an odd choice for her though. It’s not quite for her vocal style. But it’s a good way to mask who she really is! Except we know who it is. Nicole calls her voice “iconic.” She thanks her for being on the show. Miss Monster’s Valentine: To Robin: “I only have EYE for you. We even had a rendezvous in Sin City.” So they both did a thing in Las Vegas. Leah guesses Mary Wilson. Jenny guesses Queen Latifah because of the socks and bears clues. Nicole guesses Gloria Gaynor, and Robin agrees, because he met her in Vegas. Before commercial the judges wonder if she’s not Chaka Khan. BINGO.
Internet Consensus SAYS Miss Monster is Chaka Khan – Miss Monster was eliminated this week. Sob! Check out all her clues below.

Kangaroo
Clues: In her package, we hear from Kangaroo’s younger brother. His head is covered by a plant, and it’s kind of weird! Although they are only one year apart, he has always looked up to her, even though she was a bit of a drama queen in her teenage years. A boom mic hangs over his head next to a model airplane. “She is the most resilient person I know,” he says. Kangaroo was the glue when tragedy hit their family. Cut to a shot of a paper mache angel. “Her grace under pressure and her ability to rise above the haters is always something I’ve admired.”
Performance: Diamonds by Rihanna – Kangaroo has a very pleasing tone. I like her long vibrato and phrasing. Robin loves her subtle style, and he feels her heart. Kangaroo’s Valentine: To Leah: “We’ve sat at the same table, and your courage has inspired me.” Maybe Kangaroo was on the talk? Ken guesses someone he’s worked with Rosie Huntington Wylie. Nicole guesses Lindsay Lohan. Jenny guesses Jordin Sparks. That voice is definitely not Jordin! Yes, she has a little brother, but the other clues don’t fit. Leah and Ken did a bit that had him wanting the Valentine and throwing a fit when Leah got it. Then she smeared lipstick all over his face. Eep.
Internet Consensus SAYS Kangaroo is Jordyn Woods Kylie Kardashian’s ex best friend – I know the least about this celebrity of all the masks so far. I try very hard to ignore all things Kardashian. The clues that are relevant: Jordyn lost her father and it rocked her tight knit family. Jordyn does have a younger brother close in age. I am the least sure of this guess. American Idol winner Jordin Sparks keeps popping up. While some of the clues fit, y’all know her voice. That’s not her.

The Masked Singer is going on tour. Oh boy. FOX is milking this for everything it can, eh?
White Tiger
Clues: White Tiger says going into the competition, he knew he wasn’t going to be the best singer. “I’ve always known how to work a crowd,” he says. White Tiger’s friend and or family is his college buddy. The two were college roommates freshman year. He tells a story about impressing girls at a bar with outlandish Mr. Mike moves. “Smell what I’m cooking?” he says as pats of butter flash on the screen. “El Tigre” is still winning over the crowd, says college buddy. “watch out because when he commits to something, he doesn’t stop until he wins.”
Performance: We Will Rock You by Queen. White Tiger can’t sing for crap, therefore he’s likely to go home tonight. He’s BUTCHERING Queen. It’s painful. It’s one of the worst Masked Singer performances in history! I don’t even think the dancing can save him. Nicole insists “He delivers!” Hm. She loves that he “goes for any note!” White Tiger’s Valentines Day card: To Jenny: “I’m wild about you, but I know your husband will appreciate this card even more.” Oh. THAT’s a good clue! Jenny guesses, correctly, Rob Gronkowski. Nicole doesn’t think the clues are that easy (they are). Ken guesses Fabio because of the appearance of butter in the clue package. IF ONLY. Nicole guesses Joe Manganiello.
Internet Consensus SAYS White Tiger is Rob “Gronk” Gronkowski recently retired from the New England Patriots football team – The big clue here is White Tiger’s clue that Jenny’s husband would love his Valentine card even more. Jenny’s husband is Donnie Wahlberg, who is Boston born and bread. In the clue package, Tiger’s “college buddy” stood in front of a “Route 66” sign. The famed highway runs through Arizona, where Gronk played college ball. As Jenny mentioned, the quarter in the package correlates to quarters in a football game. The buddy also wore styrofoam number one gloves, just like fans do at NFL and college games. I’m not sure what the pats of butter mean…OH YEAH THE PATS THE PATRIOTS! I had to talk myself through that one. Heh. “When he commits to something, he doesn’t stop until he wins,” says the buddy. The Pats have won a ton of Super Bowls.

RESULTS
The singer with the least amount of votes is…MISS MONSTER! What the heck? How did White Tiger skate by? Points for being ridiculous, I guess. Last guesses: Nicole: Chaka Khan Ken: Reba McEntire (WHAT?) Jenny: Queen Latifah. Leah: Mary Wilson Robin: Also guesses Chaka Khan
Miss Monster is Chaka Khan! Nick INSISTS that he knew it the entire time. “I heard that iconic voice, when you hit it that first time…” Robin notes that she didn’t hit some of her signature notes. And that sealed her doom, I think. I noted above that Miss Monster’s song pick was not quite right for her. A soul classic with a few of her big notes would have done the trick. Nicole gushes, sharing that she has studied her voice “so much” and that she’s “so deeply” inspired by her.
- The locker with the #10 in Miss Monster’s Package is a clue for Chaka’s 10 Grammy Awards.
- The Queen chess piece in Miss Monster’s package hints to Chaka’s nickname “Queen of Funk.”
- The white socks and toddy bear in Miss Monster’s package are clues to Chaka’s hometown, Chicago.
