Survivor 30 Worlds Apart – Episode 9 Live Blog

A new episode of Survivor airs tonight on CBS. Read a live recap here.

Last week Hali was voted off and became the first member of the jury. Who will be voted out tonight? Let’s find out.

The tribe returns to camp after Tribal Council. They discuss Dan’s comment about flippers never winning, which Shirin wholeheartedly disagrees with. She even openly admits in front of everyone that she will vote for Mike to win if he makes it to the end. In addition, Jenn doesn’t want to be in the game anymore without Hali. Shirin needs Jenn, but she knows she needs new options. The next morning, she approaches Mike and Sierra about working with them. Mike asks her who she would want gone next. She says she would vote out Carolyn. Mike is open to the idea, but isn’t committing to her just yet.

It’s time for the reward challenge. They will be divided into two teams of five. They will all race and swim through obstacles in the water to reach a platform. Once all the team members are on the platform, they will use a grappling hook to collect five rings in the water. The first team to collect all their rings will win reward. For reward, the winning team will receive a chocolate feast. Before they start, they each get to taste an M&M and then decide the teams on a schoolyard pick. The teams end up being Mike, Tyler, Shirin, Dan, and Sierra versus Rodney, Joe, Jenn, Carolyn, and Will. The challenge is pretty even, with various people falling off the obstacles along the way to the platforms. They all get to their platforms and use the hooks to collect the rings. The team with Mike, Tyler, Shirin, Dan, and Sierra wins reward.

We next see the winning team enjoying their chocolate reward before we see the losing tribe return to camp. They decide to eat one of the chickens for their meal for the day. Jenn is upset that they’ll be killing a chicken since she considers the chickens to be hers. While they’re sitting around camp, Rodney decides to mock and impersonate Mike, which makes them all laugh. Joe is hoping Rodney’s dislike for Mike could help him and his allies stay in the game.

Before the immunity challenge starts, Joe admits to feeling a lot of pressure to win. He’s won three in a row and hopes to win another one. Later Jenn approaches him and says if she wins immunity, she’ll give the necklace to him. She doesn’t want to be in the game anymore. Afterwards, it’s time for the immunity challenge. It’s an endurance competition requiring each castaway to stand on their toes to balance a block on their head against the frame of the structure they’re standing on for support. Once the block falls from their head, they are eliminated from the challenge. They all begin the challenge, and the first person out is Carolyn. Will is out seconds later, and he is followed by Shirin. Joe is struggling, but he recovers. Afterwards, Rodney and Dan are eliminated. Sierra is out next. Only four people are left in the challenge. Joe is the next one out and his streak of winning immunity is over.  The last three people left also happen to be one white collar, one blue collar, and one no collar. Mike falls next, and Jenn and Tyler are the last two standing. Thirty minutes have passed before Jenn’s block falls and Tyler wins immunity. Before the commercial break, we hear from Jenn admitting that it’s funny how she fought so hard for an immunity she was planning on giving away anyway. She knows Joe is the target, but wants to cause some chaos to maybe save him and mess up the games of some other people on the tribe.

The tribe returns to camp. Joe knows he’s on the chopping block, but will fight to stay in the game. Jenn contemplates asking Joe and Shirin to vote for her so Joe stays in the game. Jenn really wants to go home and will relish messing up the games of the people who want Joe gone. Afterwards, Joe has a plan to make a fake hidden immunity idol. He makes jewelry for a living, so he’s confident he can create a fake hidden immunity idol that looks realistic. He makes one and goes to Mike to make a deal. He tells Mike he’ll give him his idol if he survives tonight’s vote. Mike thinks there’s a possibility Joe may have an actual idol, so he’s open to the idea of keeping him around.

It’s time for Tribal Council. Right away, Jeff talks to Jenn about her apathy about the game. Jenn admits she enjoys her time in the game, but also has had enough. She also tells Jeff that she would’ve given immunity to Joe if she had won. However, she won’t quit and will just let herself get voted out instead of just walking out before the votes are cast. Jeff talks to Joe next and he says he really wants to stay in the game since he’s waited most of his life to be on Survivor. Before it’s time to vote, Mike holds up Joe’s fake idol and asks Jeff to verify it. However, Jeff says he cannot verify it at that moment.

It’s now time for the vote. Both Tyler and Rodney say they have no idea what’s going to happen as they cast their votes. Before Jeff reads the votes, Mike plays Joe’s fake idol for Will and Jeff reveals it’s a fake. The votes are then read, and by a vote of 5-4-1, Joe is voted out and the second member of the jury. Jenn received four votes and Dan received one.

And that wraps up another episode of Survivor: Worlds Apart. Thanks for reading and come back next week for another live recap.
