Last week was kind of slow on the Mediabase charts, but this week is all kinds of exciting.
There was not 1, not 2, but 3 Idols that made it into the top 10 this week. Carrie Underwood’s new single, “Undo It” has pulled into the top 10 on Country giving her three top 10 singles from her current album. I would not be surprised if she makes this her third number one from this album. The Idol winner from the year before is not to be outdone. Fantasia’s new single “Bittersweet” has quickly climbed into the top 10 as well. The final Idol making top 10 this week is Daughtry whose “Life After You” had been blocked just outside the glacial moving AC chart top 10 for a while. Idols are now holding a total of 9 top 10 spots (between AC, Country, HAC and UAC).
Next, we have two songs breaking into the top 30. Kris Allen’s new single “The Truth” has moved up to top 30 on the HAC giving him two songs in the top 30 on that format (LLWD is at 10). Over on AC, Brooke’s “Change” has also made it to top 30. This has a good chance of outpeaking her previous single “Radio Radio”. Pretty good for an indie artist.
Then, there are the two songs breaking into the top 40. Daughtry’s “September” is wasting no time vaulting up the HAC chart and has already reached 34. It is the third biggest gainer on that chart. Our latest American Idol also breaks into the top 40 of a chart. Lee’s coronation song “Beautiful Day” moved up from 58 to 37 on the AC chart. Must be kind of fun to have your first radio top 40 hit.
Finally, Adam Lambert’s latest single “If I Had You” breaks into the top 50 on Pop. This is a double milestone because there hadn’t been an Idol on that influential chart for weeks.
BTW I would like to apologize to Bucky fans because I missed noting that he reached the top 30 milestone on Country last week.
