Kelly Clarkson – 7 Nation Army – VIDEO

More rock covers from Kelly Clarkson as she stomps out a kick-ass version of the White Stripes’ “7 Nation Army” at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City last night.

Whole lotta love solo

That does it, I’m going to try to nab some tix for Kelly’s show here in Boston on 10/13…

Maura   posted another version, from Kelly’s Mohegan Sun concert over at Idolator.

  1. I like it. Intersting hearing that song played by a full band. I still perfer the original.

Kelly can sing her face off in almost any genre it seems. No doubt why she won AI. I just wish she’d be given (or write) some material that matches the sort of stuff she really loves.

  2. Would’ve been nice to actually SEE Kelly on this video than just hear her. Terrible videography.

  3. I’m going next week, I can’t wait. Jim Cantiello was the concert last night and tweeting about it. Here are most of his tweets (he’s such a fangirl I love it!!!)

Yes Kelly Clarkson. I’m having a good time. You just fucking KILLED “7 Nation Army.” Dsskrydefhffdjcf

Although I would not be doing my job if I didn’t mention that Kelly’s backup singers are noticeably larger than she is.

Kelly Clarkson’s Alanis/Kings of Leon mashup is making me weepy. #INeedTherapy

Kelly Clarkson brings everyone together. The little kids, the gays, the twentysomethings. I love her so hard. Freaking out right now. Bye.

I’m sorry. No disrespect to Eric Hutchinson but if he has a record deal, how the hell does @ImMattGiraud not? #signMattGiraud

Eric Hutchinson is covering “Heartless” at the Kelly Clarkson concert. He is no you know who. A-hem.

  4. Just watched the other video which actually showed her. She did awesome. But that outfit was NOT flattering on her at all. Kelly has money now; she should hire a personal trainer. Carrie Underwood did and looks fabulous.

  5. I guess the person who recorded this video was there for Kelly’s MFB because you sure don’t see much of HER! Everyone sounded great, though!

  6. I looooooove me some Kelly, the girl seriously can sing anything.

I loved Jim’s fangirl tweets (he sounds like I’d be, but…)

Um, duh! Jill AND Kate are 5’9″ while Kelly is only 5’3.5″…so of course they are.

  7. I love Kelly and I love Seven Nation Army, but I miss Jack’s crazy ass voice and guitar. This was too smoothed over for me. (I still hope she sings it if I end up going to see her show on Friday)

  8. I fluv White Stripe’s and Jack. Kelly is not a rocker…so fail. Nice try though. She’s a great singer.

  9. Thank you! I saw Jim’s tweets last night and was frustrated that I couldn’t hear this song, too. LOVE this song and LOVE Kelly.

    DITTO.

  11. I’m so excited, I have tickets to see her in February in London! :D :D She is truly incredible live, no matter what she sings.

  12. i love it!! she sounds fantastic, i love this style of music for her voice. Shes ridiiiiiiculously talented. thank you!

  13. I really like that she choose this song, because it’s a great song, so cool points for that and even thinking of doing this song? Wow.

However, I really don’t like her version of it. As I said in the headline thread, too belty, too divay, no rawness, no punkness left whatsoever with either the instrumentation or her vocals. It’s very blah to me. I get what she was trying to go for, and kudos for thinking outside the box, but I don’t think she was that successful with this.

I agree. There was nothing good about this version. It can’t compete with this:
