American Idol stops in Reno, attracts hundreds – Mary Ross woke up Saturday morning not expecting a whole lot from her day. Now she’s a contestant for “American Idol.” “Honestly, I was really surprised they picked me,” Ross said after her audition at City Plaza in downtown Reno. “I sing here and there, but I never thought I’d be good enough to be on national television.” “It’s so surreal,” she said.
