Jessica Reads To Grade School Students In Manila – MANILA, Philippines – Jessica Sanchez, the season 11 “American Idol” runner-up and Smart brand ambassador for the youth, marks her return to the country by participating in an outreach program on Monday, Feb. 11. Carrie Underwood Wears $31 Million in Jewels at Grammys 2013 – The multiple Grammy winner (and nominee) wore over $31 million in precious diamonds by designer Johnathon Arndt. Underwood’s necklace alone feature 381 carats of oval, pear, marquis and round brilliant white diamonds, according to a press release from the jeweler. Carrie Underwood’s Glowing Grammys Dress: All the Scoop – To perform the song that won her best solo country performance, the superstar donned a custom Theia gown designed specifically for the vivid light show. The line’s creative director Don O’Neill sourced fabric for the 4 feet 5 inches-wide skirt that had to be approved by both Underwood’s stylist, Trish Townsend, as well as the video team creating the special effects. With only three days to create the gown, O’Neill’s team worked around the clock, stitching together 10 yards of Duchesse satin, 100 yards of tulle and crinoline and thousands of Swarovski crystals onto the bodice. Underwood Reveals Grammys Performance Secret – “It was all projection and it took a lot of people getting everything just right so the projection wasn’t [off],” said Underwood, who revealed that the dress was made special for the occasion. “I had to stand in the exact same place. And Gotye too (And Phillip Phillips – When little known New York indie band Fun released We Are Young as the lead single for their second studio album Some Nights in September 2011, it went largely unnoticed, only garnering some attention from online critics and quickly fading off the Billboard Hot 100 after debuting at No. 53. But then Fox’s Glee covered the song for a pivotal scene in a December 2011 episode, sending sales for the single soaring 1,650%. The show put We Are Young on the map and back on the charts. The song’s subsequent use in a Chevrolet Sonic commercial during the 2012 Super Bowl pushed it to No. 1. Tonight, We Are Young won a Grammy for best new song, with Fun named best new artist. Gotye’s Somebody That I Used to Know, which landed the coveted Record Of The Year prize, too got a strong boost when performed on Glee in a talked about scene.
