It’s America’s turn to judge ‘X Factor’

“I saw the fear on my producers’ faces the other day because suddenly they realized that it has to match people’s expectations, ” Cowell said recently at a West Hollywood hotel wear he held court with the show’s other judges, his curmudgeon persona seemingly replaced by an articulate charmer.

Fox is betting lightning will strike twice for the network with Cowell’s latest venture, which also marks his return to American TV.

Has Simon Cowell backed his first loser?

Surely some mistake at Red Or Black? where, despite claiming to love a good statistic, Ant & Dec consistently failed to discuss some really interesting numbers.

This show’s ratings. Let’s be clear. Once the press conferences have ended and Simon Cowell and ITV have stopped blaming each other for allowing a convicted thug to win the first £1 million prize, this show’s future will probably be decided by how many of us stuck with it.

Or to put it another way, whether ITV’s ad sales account for the show is in the red or in the black.

Chaz Bono on naysayers: ‘These people have an agenda. I have one as well’

Chaz Bono is feeling pretty sore these days, but it’s the grueling rehearsals on Dancing with the Stars — not the internet backlash to his being the show’s first transgender – that is keeping him on ice.

Bono spoke of the grueling choreography while walking the red carpet of the Creative Arts Emmys on Saturday. “It’s tough … everything is hard, the position that everything is supposed to be in, ” he told EW. “I’m icing a lot, trying to sleep and eat well.”

DWTS: Mark Ballas on Rooting for Chaz Bono, and the Trouble With Same-Sex Partners

Mark Ballas may be paired with reality staple Kristin Cavallari for the latest installment of Dancing With the Stars, but that doesn’t mean his loyalties sit solely with her. Talking with TVLine Saturday night in Los Angeles at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony, the two-time DWTS champ expressed a soft spot for one of his Season 13 rivals: Chaz Bono.

“He’s a lovely person. He’s putting himself out there. He’s going to go for it. I’m rooting for him, ” said Ballas, adding it was “whack” that Bono has endured a flurry of negative comments for being the show’s first transgender contestant. “This is a dance show at the end of the day. It’s not politics. It’s a dance show. He’s going to do great, and he’s lovely. So good luck to him.”
