David Cook gets into the rhythm of ‘This Loud Morning’

Which songwriters did you really connect with as you wrote for This Loud Morning?

The first one that pops into my head is Ryan Star. Ryan opened for us roughly 50 percent of the dates on the last tour. We did something like 154 shows, so [that gave me] plenty of time to build up an amazing relationship with Ryan, his band and his family.

I can also say David Hodges, in the sense that we worked with David on the last record and the song that “made” the album was a bonus track. But Hodges and I write, like, 10 songs for this record. We hit a stride with one another. He really helped me in the sense of finding some of those cornerstone moments on the record — songs like Circadian and Rapid Eye Movement, the bookends. Those songs are so vital to the life of this record. He was pretty essential.

David talks about why it took so long to finish the record, working with songwriters, making an album in a singles driven market and more…

Carrie Underwood’s ‘love gone wrong’

I grew up on a farm in Checotah, Oklahoma. My father, Stephen, worked in a paper mill and my mother, Carole, was a school teacher. Dad was the strong, silent type and I always knew he loved me, but instead of saying it, he preferred to show it through actions. He was forever washing my car and pumping up the tyres; he showed his love in different ways.

Kellie Pickler In No Rush to Have Children

“I don’t think people realize … the responsibility that comes along with it. It’s almost like a fad, ” the country singer tells CMT Radio’s Cody Alan in an interview airing Monday, when asked if she and husband Kyle Jacobs are thinking of having children.

“I don’t know what’s gotten into these kids where they feel like they have got to have a baby because their friend has one or whatever, ” Pickler, who turns 25 on Tuesday, says.

“They don’t take into consideration that it’s a very selfish thing to do if you’re not prepared and ready.”

David Cook tells Beatweek about “Circadian” from This Loud Morning

David Cook’s new album This Loud Morning is more than a mere collection of songs, as the various tracks weave in and out of connected themes and sonically flow into each other. But one need not get any further than the unusual opening track with the unusual name, Circadian, in order to see that this record is something different altogether – and that first song was spawned out of the album’s final track, he tells Beatweek.

‘American Idol’ Judge Spots Raw, Naked Talent

“American Idol” judge Randy Jackson had two good reasons to chat up this topless babe at the Mondrian hotel pool in Hollywood the other day.

Randy appeared cool, calm and collected during the conversation with the sunbather … and while her identity is still a mystery, we’re told she had a British accent, which would explain why she looked so comfortable doing the whole topless thing.
