Lauren Alaina, Julie Zorrilla Lead ‘American Idol’ 24, Oddsmaker

They’ve already survived Hollywood Week, Las Vegas and even that very long walk down the airplane hangar, but now, the real competition begins. On Tuesday night (March 1), the “American Idol” Top 24 will sing for their lives — guys first, followed by the girls on Wednesday — and it will be up to viewers at home to determine just who moves on.

And though there’s still a long way to go until we reach the finals in May, that hasn’t stopped some “Idol” hopefuls from already surging to the front of the field … at least, according to the oddsmakers, that is.

With the Top 24 set to tip off, the folks at Bodog.com have just released their odds for each of the remaining contestants, a list that’s topped by early frontrunner (and Steven Tyler favorite) Lauren Alaina, who is a 7/1 favorite to win the season-10 crown.

The American Idol season 10 semifinals are upon us, and thank goodness the top 24 contestants are a talented bunch, considering we’ll be spending the next three months obsessing over ‘em here on Idoloonies! On this week’s installment of The Internet’s Most Important Show*, Idol‘s season 6 standout Melinda Doolittle takes a break from her residency at Feinstein’s at the Loews Regency in New York City (where she’s playing now through March 5) to talk about which young contestant brings out her inner cougar, which teenage female should’ve gotten the “wait a few more years” treatment from the judges, and what she’d take as a consolation prize if Nigel Lythgoe & Co. won’t let her perform on a results show this season. (Spoiler alert: It’s got something to do with Steven Tyler, and it’s a little bit naughty!)

Sarah Sellers, the cool geek-chic food blogger who auditioned for “American Idol” this season, sadly didn’t make it past episode one of Hollywood Week. Underwood, Songwriters Cheer Charttopper

BMI recently toasted the creative team behind Carrie Underwood’s #1 hit “Undo It” at an intimate luncheon in Nashville.

The song was co-written by a cross-genre BMI powergroup: Underwood, her frequent collaborator Luke Laird, pop-savvy songwriter Kara DioGuardi, and hard rock hitmaker Marti Frederiksen.

“Undo It” marks Underwood’s thirteenth chart-topper and is the first trip to the top of the country charts for both DioGuardi and Frederiksen.
