Idol Headlines for 2/8/14

Chris Daughtry and Adam Lambert mentored the Top 30 with Randy Jackson last week. Chris tweets details on when the Idol alums may grace our TV screens, “Tune in to @AmericanIdol February 18 & 19, 2014 at 8pm on Fox to catch me and @adamlambert working with the contestants.” That would be during RUSH week, when the girls and guys each perform on separate nights to win your votes. The mentoring sessions will probably be part of each contestant’s video package.

Yay Candice! Yay Promo. Candice tweeted that she’ll be singing “Cried” on The View this week. Her album comes out on February 18 (FINALLY). “Excited to announce that I’ll be performing #Cried on @theviewtv this Monday 2/10!! Tune into @ABC at 11am EST. ”

Louisville’s Brandy Neelly talks about advancing another round on “American Idol” – Singer Brandy Neelly is a step closer to living her “American Idol” dream. The 19 year old Louisville native made it through Hollywood week and the dreaded group rounds. She’s in the top 77 contestants. On February 12 and 13, the Idol judges pair that down to the top 31, who make it to the live stage shows. Neelly tells WDRB that she still gets nervous before hitting the stage. She says that the music just pushes her through and takes over as she performs for the judges. She joked, saying that when she walks on stage she thinks the “judges are so pretty.”
The Idol contestant says she was grateful her group was able to work together as a team and impress the judges. Neelly says that she and her group were overjoyed as they were called through to the next round. – Watch the Video at WDRB.com

‘American Idol’ finalist Megan Joy balances music with motherhood – When Megan Joy drives her 7-year-old son Ryder to school from her Little Cottonwood Canyon home, she turns on her new song, “Boy Next Door.” Ryder immediately smiles, because he thinks she wrote it about him. While she didn’t write it about him, she wrote it for him. The 28-year-old Utahn is now several years removed from “American Idol,” where she was introduced to America as photogenic blonde from Utah with tattoos all over her right arm and a dance-style that was dubbed a “twisty dance.” Read more at the Salt Lake Tribune

‘American Idol’ Alum Melinda Doolittle, Gloria Gaynor Team Up for Duet – When legendary disco diva Gloria Gaynor needed a duet partner for one of the songs on her new album, We Will Survive, her manager, Stephanie Gold, made a suggestion. “She asked me if I remembered Melinda Doolittle from American Idol, and of course I did,” Gaynor tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I thought she was an awesome person, so Stephanie called her in Nashville and she said she would be pleased to do it.” Doolittle was happy to hear from Gold. “My reaction came in stages,” she recalls for THR. “First disbelief, then sheer excitement, then nervousness. Adam Lambert and Chris Colfer Glee set photo! – Choreographer, Brooke Lipton, tweeted this photo from the Glee set, late Friday night. If Brooke is involved, they were likely shooting Adam and Chris’s “Rockstar” duet! Brook tweeted, “Oh yes…. It’s a Fraturday #GLEE @chriscolfer @adamlambert”
