China limits American Idol-style shows – CHINESE authorities are cracking down on the frequency in which Chinese versions of American Idol and The Voice are shown. Provincial broadcasters show such programs, which are cheap to produce and earn a lot of advertising revenue, on satellite channels that are broadcast around the country. The official Xinhua News Agency reported that the American Idol kind of talent shows now need approval from the body that oversees broadcasting, which will license one such program per channel each quarter for prime-time viewing. – Read more at Daily Telegraph

I shared a bus with him, Clay Aiken and Kimberley Locke during our summer tour, and Ruben’s bus bed had to be custom-made for him, because he couldn’t fit into a regular-sized bunk. I actually used to sneak and sleep in his bunk when he was out of town because it was so luxurious compared to the tiny ones we all had! One day as we were getting ready to perform, I saw Ruben being rushed off stage with an oxygen mask. So You Think You Can Dance Star Cole Horibe to Channel Bruce Lee in David Henry Hwang’s Kung Fu – Get ready for some off-Broadway hand-to-hand combat! So You Think You Can Dance contestant Cole Horibe will embody legendary martial arts star Bruce Lee in the world premiere of David Henry Hwang’s new play Kung Fu. Directed by Leigh Silverman, performances will begin February 4, 2014, with an official opening night set for February 24 at the Irene Diamond Stage in the Pershing Square Signature Center. Kung Fu is slated to play a limited engagement through March 16. Horibe will reunite with So You Think You Can Dance’s Sonya Tayeh, who will choreograph the production.
