American Idol winner Trent Harmon is set to sing the anthem this weekend at the University of Mississippi football game.

How A-List Talent Changed the Face of Reality TV – Fourteen years ago, the world was introduced to an unfamiliar host on a new reality show: Ryan Seacrest on “American Idol.”

Today, “American Idol” has sung its last tune and Seacrest is a global phenomenon. But in 2016, would he have even gotten his shot at fame? In the highly competitive era of peak TV, the Big Four are taking fewer risks on unknown talent when it comes to unscripted programming, placing all their bets on A-listers. The reality show lineup of the 2016-17 season is a who’s-who of superstars. Arnold Schwarzenegger is taking over you-know-who’s seat on “The New Celebrity Apprentice”; Alec Baldwin is hosting “Match Game”; Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys are spinning around in “The Voice’s” red chairs; Michael Strahan is hosting “$100,000 Pyramid”; Simon Cowell returned to the States with “America’s Got Talent”; and Steve Harvey is the face of three series with two more on the way. – Read more at Variety

Q & A with Kelly Clarkson – How did your experience writing this book compare with what you experience when you’re writing songs? Oh, girl, it’s night and day different! I loved Shel Silverstein and all kinds of poetry when I was growing up – it had a flow and almost a musicality to it. And I’d been writing songs for a long time. I thought, “This will come easy to me.” But writing a children’s book is so much harder! It’s a whole different beast. David Linker [executive editor at HarperCollins] would remind me that I had to think about how a child would read it, and how it could flow better for them – to come at it from how a kid thinks. The meter and flow is just totally different than what I’m used to and it was pretty difficult. – Read more at Publisher’s Weekly

Ryan Murphy looks back on Glee: ‘It was the best time and the worst time in my life’ – But with success came behind-the-scenes tension too. “It was the best time in my life and the worst time in my life,” says Murphy. “There was a lot of infighting. There was a lot of people sleeping together and breaking up. It was good training for being a parent, I’ll tell you that much. But I also made a mistake: We all got too personal. We loved it so much that we would all go out to dinner and we’d hang out and we were always together, so there was no delineation between who was the boss and who was the employee. And we were all so close that finally when something would happen, it would be so personal to me that I would literally hit the roof.” – Read more at Entertainment Weekly

I feel like I lost probably 10 lbs., maybe 8 lbs. already.” – Read more at People

What It Felt Like To Be A Woman On The Most Misogynistic Season Of “Big Brother” Ever – Though Franzel wasn’t the first woman to win on the series, she was the first to beat out a male contestant for the prize. “It just makes the whole thing sweeter that I made Big Brother history,” she told BuzzFeed News. “That is a cool feeling.” It’s poetic justice that a woman emerged victorious on Big Brother 18, considering the fact that male contestants groped women this season, critiqued their bodies in lecherous and condemning ways, and spewed some truly heinous opinions about women in general — like when Paulie Calafiore was heard on the live feed calling women “dumpsters” for male bodily fluids. – Read more at Buzzfeed
