HDD – Album Sales Prediction : Oct 29-Nov 4

With 69.42% of the chart reporting in, Taylor Swift is off to an easy win for her second week. When you move 1.2M units in your first week, even if you have a regular drop-off in album sales, you still sell more in your second week than most people sell all year. Hip-Hopper Meek Mills will have to settle for a meager 2nd slot in his opening week despite a predicted 165-180K in sales.

Now that Halloween is over, people are getting into the Christmas spirit and buying albums along with their Christmas decorations. Thanksgiving needs to get out of the way! Rod Stewart is leading the chart this week with “Merry Christmas Baby” – hey, even aging rock-stars know baby needs a new pair of shoes (little Aiden Stewart just turned 1 this year). Jason Aldean looks to have another hit album on his hands as he is 4th in his 3rd week. Fellow Country artist, Toby Keith, is currently debuting in 5th making it 3 country artists in the top 5. Hip-hop artist Kendrick Lamar is 6th, Country band Little Big Town is 7th, British Alt-Rockers Mumford and Songs are 8th, Christmas staples Trans-Siberian Orchestra have a new EP out at 9th to anchor their 2012 winter tour and Eric Church rounds out the top 10.

The top reality show contestant this week is Carrie Underwood. Her fourth album “Blown Away” got a bit of a boost from her hosting duties on the CMA awards last week (many Country acts got boosts as well) and is at 15th. Scotty McCreery was also there and his Christmas album is sitting at 17th. Last season’s Voice winner (and judge) Blake Shelton’s Christmas album is at 20th (he was awarded EOTY and SOTY at the CMA’s). UK X-Factor dream team of boys, One Direction, is 26th (new album soon!). Winner of the first season of The Voice (and judge) Adam Levine’s band Maroon 5’s “Overexposed” album is right behind at 27th. These latter two will battle it out with Thursday night result show performances on the XF and The Voice respectively.

Now 43 featuring Carly Rae Jepsen, One Direction, Cher Lloyd, XF US judge Demi Lovato and Voice judge Adam Levine is at 29th. America’s Got Talent is represented by Jackie Evancho who is at 30th. Finally, Carly Rae Jepsen is hanging in there in 39th position.
