Glee – Superbowl Episode – Recap and Videos

GLEE: Santana (Naya Rivera, L), Brittany (Heather Morris, C) and Quinn (Dianna Agron, R) perform in a special episode of GLEE airing after SUPER BOWL XLV on Sunday, Feb. 6 (approx. 10:30-11:30 PM ET; approx. 7:30-8:30 PM PT) on FOX. ©2011 Fox Broadcasting Co. Cr: Michael Yarish/FOX

Well…that plot was as unrealistic as Glee has ever been, but at this point, I’ve given up on any sort of normal plot development, and enjoying it the way I do some big 50’s musical. The musical numbers are awesome, there are likable characters to root for, but naturalistic character development? Nah. I’ve completely given up on that.

Who thinks Karovsky is on his way to redemption? He’s not ready yet–after the football team won, he retreated back into hiding–but that little taste of allowing his freak flag to fly is just the beginning. Ryan Murphy has said he wants a happy ending for the closeted football player, and I think eventually he’ll come out and joint the football team. Karovsky will come to an understanding with Kurt, but they must NEVER EVER hook up. Once somebody threatens to kill you, I think that takes them off ones list of possibilities.

I really dug the Thriller/Heads will Roll number. I wish I could post it, but You Tube is blocking alll Glee stuff now. (ETA: Hulu has all the musical numbers posted now, after the jump) Bummer. I did manage to capture the Chevy Glee ad, however, which you can watch after the jump.

Finn gets his mojo back, leads the team and wins the game. He also gets a kiss from Quinn. Those two will probably hook up again, as Sam and Santana begin dating (well…that’s what the spoilers say!). Ryan Murphy loves him some musical dating chairs! I don’t expect that to stop.

The Katie Couric cameo at the end was all kinds of fun: Sue Sylvester, “I hate you Diane Sawyer!” Ha. Every once in awhile, Sue’s gets her comeuppance. But she doesn’t stay down for long.

Heather Morris continues to be absolutely delightful as the ditzy Brittany. She’s the Gracie Allen of the 21st century and she don’t need no George Burns. Yes, I know the “Bills Bills Bills” number was completely gratuitous and had nothing to do with the plot, but as a Darren Criss stan, I didn’t mind a bit.
