Dancing With The Stars 11 – The Finale!!!

1st Place – Jennifer Grey and Derek HoughVIDEO
2nd Place – Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer
3rd Place – Bristol and MarkVIDEO

So, that ended up rather…predictably.  When I heard Jennifer Grey was in the cast and was paired up with Derek Hough, I figured she’d win.  There’s her dancing experience, all the sentimentality around her role in Dirty Dancing and relationship with the late Patrick Swayze. Then, when the competition began, there was all that crying and whining about injuries.  Oh yeah, and the overscoring from the judges!  In hindsight, Jennifer couldn’t lose.

But Bristol Palin gave her a run for her money.  For a bit there, it looked like Bristol could take it all. But when it came down to the finale, I think a lot of casual viewers who wouldn’t have ordinarily voted (Me!) picked up their phone to cast a vote AGAINST Bristol. I would bet there were weeks when Bristol came in 1st place. But, when the field narrowed, as favorites were knocked off, those votes when to the affable Kyle Massey and the high-strung but talented Jennifer.  So much for the Tea Party taking over the world…

Video and Recap after the JUMP…

Who will take the tacky mirror ball trophy tonight? Stick around as I live blog the Finale of Dancing with the Stars

The stars and their partners dance a group number!!! Choreographed by Jason Gilkerson. Audrina Patridge and Michael Bolton are not there. Audrina is recovering from an illness and Bolton is on tour in Europe.

Recap! And then Tom explains the scoring…unless you had questions. There are less than 5% between Jennifer and Bristol.

OH NOES! Jennifer ruptured a disk. She’s going to dance anyway.

Christina Aguilera takes the stage to sing a song from her new movie Burlesque – VIDEO

First Round is the contestant’s favorite ballroom dance. The judges will rate all three in relation to each other, awarding 1st, 2nd and 3rd place points at the end.

Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer – Tango – “If I Had You” – Not sure why Kyle chose this–he definitely danced better routines throughout the season. He looks a little stiff here. Len says, “You come out with such a great attitude, you come out straight on full of energy.” Bruno says, “You really are a talented young man. You have the ability to connect with the audience.” Carrie Ann says, “I’m so glad you chose the Tango. It shows you can be poised. You bring freshness to the dance floor.” – Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 8, Bruno – 9 – 26  VIDEOVIDEO

Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas – Argentine Tango – “According to Him” – Watching Bristol dance is like watching paint dry. Really slowly. Bruno says, “This is the dance that showed us, Bristol the fighter. You earned your place in the finale.” Carrie Ann says, “Out of all the dances you’ve performed, this is my favorite. There was a new command, bigger and broader than last time.” Len says, “You’re all neatness and precision.” Carrie Ann – 8 Len – 9, Bruno – 8 – 25 – VIDEO

Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough – Viennese Waltz – This routine was the pairs very first dance (when she cried about Patrick Swayze). Very smooth and pretty. Audience on their feet! The judges love them, of course. Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 10, Bruno – 10 – 30 – VIDEO

The song for the group cha cha cha is revealed: “Raise Your Glass” by Pink. They pick numbers for the order.

Next the Hoff in a taped “funny” bit. OMG the Hoff is singing. KILL ME NOW. – VIDEO

Kurt Warner and Rick Fox FACE OFF YO. They and their partners dance to “Eye of the Tiger” and it sure is lulzworthy. Tom Bergeron is hilarious. – VIDEO

Next it’s Margaret Cho an Louis Van Amstel dancing to “Copacobana”. Oh…and here comes Florence Henderson dressed in a crazy hat! – VIDEO

Next a video montage of the most fake dramatic moments! Jennifer crying…and Jennifer crying. Brandy bitching out Maks and Jennifer crying!  The crowd boos for Sarah Palin! The Situation (and his abs) are pissed off! Carrie Ann and Maks fight!

Points so far:

Jennifer and Derek – 90
Kyle and Lacey – 82
Bristol and Mark – 77

Next…a comedy bit with The Situation. Then he and Karina take the stage (he’s shirtless) to dane with a bevy of female pros. Oh Geez. He’s such a terrible dancer. – VIDEO

More horrible memorable moments from the season. OMG Chelsie explaining to Michael Bolton how her choreography for him involves crawling out of a dog house. HUMILIATING!

Brandy and Maks are back for one last time to perform their super-hot Quickstep. – VIDEO

Christina Aguilera is back to sing “Beautiful”. – VIDEO

The finalists take the stage to perform one last Cha Cha Cha. But not before we forced to endure some blah blah blah from the judges. – VIDEO

Kyle and Lacey are kicking it on the cha cha cha! Jennifer must be pumped FULL OF DRUGS cause she looks like she’s feeling no pain. Bristol dances like a fricking tree trunk. She sucks.

Len says he’s absolutely amazed the dancers could get the choreography on such short notice. Bruno says Carrie Ann thinks they all did great. Kyle and Lacey inspire joy, Bristol and Mark inspire hope and Jennifer and Derek show what perseverance is.

Scores:
Kyle and Lacey – Carrie Ann – 9 Len – 9 10 – 28 – 118
Jennifer and Derek – 9, Len – 9, Bruno – 10 – 28 – 110
Bristol and Mark – Carrie Ann – 9 Len – 9, Bruno – 9 – 27 – 104

First Elimination! Bristol and Mark came in 3rd place. THANK JEEBUS.

After the break, it’s between Jennifer and Derek and Kyle and Lacey. And the winner is…Jennifer and Derek! Tom awards them the tacky mirror ball, and they could not look happier!
