“American Idol” winner Laine Hardy on why the second time competing was the charm – “It was like a fun-serious,” he says. “So I was like having fun but learning songs and pushing myself to new limits.” He credits one of this season’s mentors and Idol alum Adam Lambert with giving him the best advice. “Adam Lambert, he told me some things about stage presence and just pushing yourself to…just try it, you know?” he says. “Just try something new on stage and if you don’t like it, you don’t have to do it.” As for what’s next for Laine, he says he’s excited to explore all different genres of music and not get pegged down to one thing. He’s also excited to go back home and spend some quality time with his family. – Read more at ABCNewsRadio

Maddie Poppe Hopes American Idol Treats Current Winner Laine Hardy Better Than they Treated Her

Neither Ada nor Maddie understand that American Idol winners don’t always perform on the finale. With a new winner crowned, it’s time for Maddie to turn the page.

From Blake Shelton’s Pranks to Meeting Gwen Stefani’s Puppy: The Voice’s Top 4 Share BTS Memories – “I made the top 24, and I was walking on stage. [Blake] came up behind me and grabbed my shoulders and he said, ‘Man, that was awesome,’” Roberts, 27, told reporters. “After we found out the results, we went straight into rehearsal. No sleep, no nothing. [Blake] said, ‘Hey man, I want you to meet someone before we start.’ So we walked through this little hallway and [Blake’s girlfriend Gwen Stefani] was just sitting there. I didn’t know it was her because she was turned around, and he was like, ‘Hey, this is Gwen.’” – Read more at People

Carrie Underwood wears 158-carat ring worth $30K on ‘American Idol’ – The “Before He Cheats” singer sported a $30,000 custom amethyst ring designed by Kyle Chan for her “American Idol” performance on Monday. The sparkler, which clocks in at a whopping 158 carats, is set in 14k black gold with double prongs to support the weight of the stone. “The ring itself weighs close to two ounces,” Chan told Page Six Style. “Not any diva would have that finger strength to hang onto it while performing!” – Read more at Page Six

Adam Lambert talks working with Queen and the making of his all new album, ‘Velvet’ – It’s called Velvet and I’ve been working on it for the last three years. Part of the reason why it’s been a long process is because I chose deliberately not to rush. I wanted to experiment in the studio and work with writers – I reached out to people I’ve worked with before and lots of new people I met socially and I just started getting in the studio and coming up with songs. The sound of the project took shape on its own – I didn’t know what I wanted to do at the beginning. It’s an album that’s very timeless in my opinion. Sonically it references a lot of the music I herd in the house growing up: it’s retro. There are a lot of 70s and 80s choices in there and it lives in a world that is a fusion of new and old – it definitely has a vintage edge to it. Also as a whole I would it say it is more soulful than anything I’ve ever put out before – at least that’s what my friends have been telling me! Yeah, it’s Velvet – the word means so many different things. It feels smoother; it’s a very smooooooth delivery. – Read more at Hunger

‘American Idol’ winner Caleb Johnson, at Chameleon Club Thursday, is finally making music on his own terms – Johnson’s journey to “American Idol” victory is one of persistence. He first auditioned in 2011, but was cut after Hollywood Week. He auditioned again in 2012, but was cut at the Top 24 selection. After taking a year off, he returned and auditioned for the season that would name him winner. “The biggest lesson I learned and took away from that show is be yourself and trust your gut instinct on what is right and what you feel like you want to do,” Johnson says. “Because, 99.9 percent of the time, you’re going to be right.” He’s deeply grateful for the opportunities that came from his “American Idol” exposure, from performing for audiences of 40,000 with Trans-Siberian Orchestra to doing an arena tour with KISS. – Read more at Lancaster Online

Haley Reinhart Says Working With Jeff Goldblum on a Song Was ‘Cute, Comical and a Little Sexy’ – “I took songs that I wrote eight years ago and waited for the right time to put [them] on a very special album that made sense,” she tells PopCrush. “This was that time to take all the things, songs, pieces of me and make it as true as it gets for me.” I really like ’90s songs. I really like switching them around because they do have a lot of elements of other times. I’m a huge Nirvana fan. They’ve always been one of my favorite bands, next to ’60s and ’70s stuff. – Read more at PopCrush
