The poll results are in! Here’s how the Top 4 shake out in the votes.
For the 2nd week in a row, an Angie Miller performance takes the top spot. “Who R U” earned 31% of the the vote. Oddly, after a fairly wide gap, Kree Harrison’s “Whiter Shade Of Pale” came in at 2nd with 14% of the vote. Amber Holcomb’s “Power of Love” and Angie Miller’s “Cry Me a River” run neck in neck with about 10% of the vote each. Candice Glover makes her first appearance at 5th place, with “Emotion” at 9% of the vote. Y’all agree with Jimmy. Amber’s “MacArthur Park” comes in dead last with a little over 1% of the vote!

The favorite finalist poll results are mostly pretty close. Angie Miller takes first place with 33% of the vote. Candice Glover is a smidgen behind at 2nd with 31% of the vote. Kree Harrison is next at 25% of the vote and then a gap follows in between 3rd and 4th place with Amber Holcomb taking 11% of the vote.
I think a Candice Glover/Angie Miller final is looking pretty realistic.
Amber Holcomb comes in 1st, overwhelmingly, in the elimination polls. 63% of you feel Amber SHOULD go home this week, 20% feel it should be Kree Harrison, 11% of the vote goes to Angie Miller and only 6% of you feel Candice Glover should leave the competition.
Who WILL go home/get the lowest number of votes is slightly different. Only 52% of you feel Amber Holcomb will get the lowest number of votes. Kree Harrison’s numbers go up in this poll–at 34%. Candice Glover is 3rd, with 10% of the vote and you feel Angie Miller is the least likely to actually have the lowest number of votes, with 3.99% (Candice and Angie switch places).
Thanks for even bothering to vote in our elimination poll, because the overwhelming majority of you feel there will be no elimination tonight. 81% of you voted No!
Well, if our poll is any indication, and Amber Holcomb did indeed earn the fewest number of votes? Expect The Powers That Be to invoke some super-speshul no elimination night dealie. But if Kree Harrison is in the bottom? Hm. I would say all bets will be off.
But honestly, the bus driving over Kree and Candice was so hard and nonsensical, the outcry so loud, that I bet it prompted some super hard core voting for both. I expect their fan bases were ENERGIZED (I made SURE to take a break to vote) and even some casual Idol viewers may have been prompted to pick up their phone by the producer’s blatant attempt to manipulate the vote. They’ve been trying to make Amber happen for weeks now, and it just ain’t happening.
However, while Kree and Candice may be saved, their lights have certainly dimmed. Especially Kree. While the criticism she received last night was over the top, and needlessly mean, her performances have been less dynamic than in the past. At this point, I’ll be real surprised if she makes the final. Meanwhile, Katniss Angie wants it. She wants it BAD. And that kind of determination and HUNGER coupled with STRATEGY can earn a contestant the top spot.
In short: Amber Holcomb will receive the lowest number of votes, but no way in HELL is she going anywhere. A Candice/Angie final would not surprise me. And who knows–maybe my hometown gal, Angie, could take it all. A Northeast winner would be a first!
Ryan Seacrest closed the show by teasing a GAME CHANGING TWIST that would be announced tonight. What do you guys think it is? I wonder if the plan to have the winner sing a coronation song they co-wrote is part of the announcement? What do you think?
