Bits and Pieces

Here are a few upcoming Idol appearances:

Kimberly Caldwell,  Ace Young and Lisa Tucker will perform from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Oct. 5 in front of the Anaheim, CA City Hall.  The concert kicks off a 15 month celebration of the city's 150th anniversary. More information about the concert can be found here.

Paris Bennett will join Frenchie Davis (Season 2), Natalie Cole, Stephanie Mills and others in a benefit concert dubbed “Divas Simply Singing.”  Sheryl Ralph, who starred in the original Broadway production of “Dreamgirls” (Beyonce plays the part in the upcoming screen adaption.  Season 3 Idol Jennifer Hudson is cast as Effie) will host the event.  The concert will be held on Oct. 7 at Los Angeles’ Wilshire Ebell Theatre and will benefit WOMEN ALIVE and AIDS Healthcare Foundation.  There's more information here.

And finally, Katharine McPhee taped an episode of the new syndicated series, The Dr. Keith Ablow Show back in July, right before she joined the tour (she was sidelined for the first three weeks with vocal problems).  Her episode will air this Monday.  The Ablow show is a pop-psych talk show in the vein of Dr. Phil.  In her segment, Katharine discusses her struggle with the eating disorder bulimia.  You can watch a short preview of Kat's interview here.  Check your local TV listings for stations and times.

Idol Auditions

And finally, this isn't an Idol appearance, per se (maybe a future Idol appearance?), but Nigel Lythgoe and Co. are back in Birmingham, AL this weekend for second round auditions.  Contestants who make it through the second round will audition for Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell in late September.

Update:  Latest article from MyFox Birmingham featuring interview clips from a few of the Idol hopefuls.
