Watch One Direction Perform ‘Drag Me Down’ on ‘The X Factor’ Australia
With Zayn Malik’s departure from One Direction and the announcement of a 2016 hiatus earlier this year, Directioners are a tad iffy on surprises of the 1D persuasion these days.

However, the fans at X Factor Australia got an epic surprise last night when Harry, Louis, Liam and Niall appeared for an exclusive performance from their On The Road Again Tour. The fab foursome took the stage to perform “Drag Me Down” amid boisterous cheers, a few flying beach balls — and no playful shoving.

Savan Kotecha interview: “The people with the longest careers are the people who learn how to do it on purpose”
Is there one where you thought ‘yeah, we nailed that’? ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ is pretty perfect.
I didn’t think we’d nailed that to be honest. I’ve had artists come up to me and say ‘dude, ‘What Make You Beautiful’ is the perfect song’. I knew that the math was right, but I guess when it’s all together and the voices are on it and it’s mixed it worked out. I still have the demo with my vocals on it. At the last second I changed a couple of lines, like the ‘flip your hair, get you overwhelmed’ bit wasn’t there. That was a juicy line.

Tell me more about writing ‘What Makes You Beautiful’. Where did it come from?
Well we’re eating, but I’m just going to say it anyway, I was literally taking a shit at the Royal Garden hotel in London. My wife was on the other side of the wall and she was having one of those ‘I feel so ugly’ days. I shouted ‘you’re not’ and in my mind I was thinking ‘wow, that’s one of the great things about you is that you don’t know how beautiful you are and that’s what makes you beautiful’. I literally wrote down the phrase and then I went to the studio with Rami [Yacoub] and Carl [Falk]. I had the melody of “baby you light up my world like nobody else” in my head and then everything connected.

Ben Haenow “Ben Haenow” (Official Album Cover + Tracklist)
“Ben Haenow” is the upcoming self-titled debut studio album by English singer-songwriter and The X Factor winner Ben Haenow, which is scheduled to be released on November 13th via Sony and Syco Records.

The pop-rock artist wins the contest with his rendition of OneRepublic’s hit single “Something I Need“ in 2014. His music style is a mix between pop and rock.

The first official single is coming in October and Ben shared a big clue in his Spotify autumn playlist using the hashtag #2NDHH. It’s officially called “Second Hand Heart“ and it’s a duet with Kelly Clarkson. The single will be released on iTunes on October 9th.

The album also includes a cover of Sam Smith’s original track “Make It Back to Me“, and Kodaline’s “WayBack When“.

Ben Haenow has previewed his debut album and it’s full of powerhouse pop-rock
We reveal what you can expect from the X Factor champ’s debut single and album.

This is essentially my baby shower,” Ben Haenow announced at a mini playback of his album in London this week. We’re saying mini because we only heard four songs from it, but it was enough to give us a good flavour of the full 14-track album.

“That could have all been very awkward,” he told us afterwards. “I’ve poured my heart and soul into this, so revealing it to a room full of journalists was a pretty daunting prospect.”

For those in need of a recap: Ben won last year’s X Factor, and as is now standard practice, has spent the last 10 months co-writing and recording his debut album just in time for next series’ live shows.

“I ended up recording 60 songs for this album, and whittling them down to just 14 has been very hard,” he assured us, adding that he “wanted to be as involved as he could” in the making of the record. So how is the album shaping up?

Why Ben Haenow could break The X Factor’s male winner curse
Wander into your local Poundland and you’ll see just how hard being a male solo winner on X Factor can be. Joe McElderry, Leon Jackson, Shayne Ward, James Arthur… the shelves are heavy with their unheard, unloved albums.

All of which means that when any new talent show winner emerges from their year-long Cowell-imposed hibernation, their first “proper” tracks are a real make-or-break moment. Are they a Will Young… or a Matt Cardle?

And no-one knows that better than 30-year-old Ben Haenow. He sang his heart out to victory, before clinching the Christmas number one with his OneRepublic-covering winner’s single ‘Something I Need’. But now the work starts all over again with new single ‘Second Hand Heart’, which is out next week (October 16).

The 30-year-old singer was crowned champion of Simon Cowell’s ITV talent show last December, after years of playing gigs in a rock band called Lost Audio with his brother.
