Ella Henderson On ‘Chapter One’, Writing “Ghost” With Ryan Tedder & Her UK Tour With Take That: Idolator Interview
As 2014 drew to a close last month, we singled out Ella Henderson as one of the 21 new faces of pop to be aware of, and for a very big reason — you really should know who this UK powerhouse is by now. She first grabbed attention in her home country of the UK as a contestant on The X Factor in 2012. And though she didn’t win, Ella came back in a big way last summer with her debut single “Ghost,” which she co-wrote with hit-maker Ryan Tedder. That paved the way to the release of her debut LP Chapter One, which will be available stateside tomorrow (January 13).

One day ahead of that, we’re celebrating Henderson’s 19th birthday today by posting our recent chat with the singer. Head below to find out all about Ella’s road from The X Factor to Chapter One.

Ella Henderson’s ‘Chapter One’: Album Review
There’s a reason why Ella Henderson titled her debut album Chapter One (out January 13), and that’s because this is just the beginning of what is shaping up to be an amazing musical novel. Henderson’s project takes you on an emotional ride, fueled by the UK siren’s powerful vocals.

Chances are, if you’re remotely involved with the Internet, then you may have heard a variation of Henderson’s project, as it already arrived across the pond and charted impressively at #1 back in October. As a finalist on the X-Factor UK, Ella was pretty damn close to the gold, but lost to fellow Brit James Arthur.

When we look back on this decade, what will be the events that defined America?

If we’re judging by Twitter stats, for a long time it was President Obama’s re-election, marked by Obama’s famous victory night tweet, “Four more years,” alongside an old photo of him hugging First Lady Michelle Obama.

Two years later, Ellen DeGeneres’ Oscars selfie outperformed Obama in retweets. And now, adding insult to injury, a British boy band has surpassed the President of the United States.

As noted by BuzzFeed writer Matt Bellassai, One Direction-er Louis Tomlinson’s 2011 love declaration to Harry Styles (“proof” for Larry shippers) has surpassed the president’s re-election night tweet to become the second-most-reteweeted message of all time.
