Dani Shay and Nellie Vietenheimer were “a little sad” when they found out that The Glee Project contenders performed “We Found Love” after the duo were eliminated. As an antidote, they decided to put together their own acoustic cover of Rihanna’s smash hit song.

Neither girl is a powerhouse singer. Maybe they’re unique voices weren’t poppy or Broadway enough for Glee, but I could listen to these two sing all day. They both bring something really special to their rendition of the pop hit.

In case you need a refresher or don’t know: Dani was eliminated in week 2 after Glee creator, Ryan Murphy, found her “Danceability” lacking. Nellie had a decent run, but not long enough, if you ask me. Ryan did not appreciate Nellie’s “Theatricality” and took her off the call back list in week 7.

As a side note–some of you may remember Dani from last season’s America’s Got Talent, where she advanced on the strength of her ability to impersonate Justin Beiber…

If you’re fans of the ex-contenders there is some good news. Both will be back for The Glee Project finale, set to air August 14.

Both girls have solid voices but they don’t really sound all that good singing together. The harmonies are very rough

Ugh, I loved this. Both were my favorites. I was so pissed after Dani left, but then I became a Nellie superfan… Then Ryan eliminated her too. I wish both luck and hope they become stars.

Thanks for posting this MJ! These two are both really talented and deserve to go far.  I think that their voices blend really well together (and really I could listen to Nellie singing all day!)

Nellie has a unique voice. Dani, though, is so average. There’s no denying she can sing, but among singers, she just sounds so regular.

Okay, now I want to see all the kids who got eliminated be in an alternate-universe Glee.  Maybe call it Mellow or something like that.  About a high school where all the cool and quirky kids go and just get to sit on the steps and sing (rather than stressing out all the time like they do on Glee).
