That’s true. In Season 5 named Daughtry and Kellie Pickler as his early favorites. While they went out 4th and 6th respectively, guess who got signed by 19E? Daughtry and Pickler. Taylor and McPhee had to find management elsewhere.

Adam/Danny finale set already? Really? Bummer. That’s not too exciting. I guess that what the producers wanted all along, but sometimes they confuse me.

They usually do a lot of promotion during the show because I always remember the different hosts always asking them who they think will win. It’s just different because I think it’s the first time they had just the guys together? It’s usually separate.

Ugh. I will hate a Danny/Adam finale. I actually like Adam but I just hate all the pimping. I can totally see a Matt Girard or Kris Allen spoiler. I also don’t think Lil Rounds will be the last woman standing (unless the judges save her) since right now, I don’t see her voice or personality capturing people’s hearts. Even though Allison was in the bottom 3, I still think she will be the last girl standing!

The pimping of contestants and judges’ early predictions have been going on for years. It’s just more noticeable and annoying if it’s a contestant you don’t like.

I’m comfortably detached from the season – but from my brief viewing – Allison is my girl. Danny was ok the first week I watched…but quickly gettin’ on my nerves. I’ll take Matt or Kris instead.

I find him significantly creepy on multiple levels. (And, psst, we are not alone, the numbers who find Gokey creepy are legion).

They’ve done it every year. Sometimes Simon gets it right, sometimes not. They really pimped Cook last year and acknowledged Archie’s popularity. We all thought it would be David vs David, but it was fun to watch Castro and Syesha give them a run for their money.

I think the finale will be Kris vs Lil. Danny third. Adam fourth. I think the Idol audience this year is a wierd mix. Alexis already left. Allison bottom 3. Show sinking.

BTW – this week’s iphone confessionals are out if people want to check them out. I only know about Adam. He talks about going into a depression when he turned 26, life questions, etc. He says he LOVEs musical theater. Was too afraid to move to NY to try Broadway, but DOES WANT TO DO MORE MUSICAL THEATER. I was glad he straightened out all the “only did theater to pay bills crap”. He does have a lot of respect for theater, and he would love to have the privilege of doing Broadway one day.

I HATE them pimping the Final Two this early in the season. Pisses me off.

He sure isnt my favorite but creepy – I at least dont see that? Because his wife passed away and he is sad? and TPTB pimped that story so much that if he even sheds one tear, which he should be able to, his wife passed away, hello! but if he allows himself to do that OMG he will just be jumped all over, yet Awww isnt that sad that Michael and whomever misses their child, look they are crying – now THAT IS ok but not HIS sadness for a wife that is gone, for good? I still dont get it, he is dorky and goofy to me but not creepy.

I swear. EVERY year Simon and company pimp 2 or 3 contestants as making the finals. EVERY year they do it pretty early in the competition. And EVERY year fans complain about it – especially if Simon doesn’t name THEIR favorites.

Like it or not – Simon is right more often than not. Does that mean Simon is amazingly prescient? NO? It means the show chooses their favorites early and manipulate and condition the audience to vote for those favorites.

And if that doesn’t work, they usually end up signing their favorites to a contract anyways – like in Season 5 when 19E totally passed over Taylor Hicks and Katharine McPhee in favor of Chris Daughtry and Kellie Pickler. Daughtry and Pickler not only go their albums out first, they outsold both the winner and runner up.

The reason the judges say these things with such certainty is that, unlike us, they are privy to the vote totals. That’s why Simon correctly predicted that Carrie would win Idol, because, as we know, it was revealed after the season ended that Carrie was always way ahead in the weekly voting.

They’re not always right. I’d love to see Anoop, Allison, and Matt in the top 3. I’m not even sure Adam will make the f3 unless keeps the strange stuff at bay. Danny stands the biggest chance of making the f2 because he’s very popular. I’m pretty sure Lil will last a while but am keeping my fingers crossed for Allison to outlast the other 2 girls.

I think this is insulting to predict winners this early. Last season the push from the judges for their favorites didn’t occur until much later in the competition. Maybe when they got to the top 4 or 5, but it really wasn’t so blatant this early on. Since last year was the first year I watched, I am not sure if this is something the judges have done in the past on all seasons. I can honestly say, I didn’t even notice it until they pushed Syesha on the broadway bandwagon, basically saying she wasn’t a recording srtist. Speaking of that dreaded label, why aren’t they telling Adam he is too broadway?

I just read some other posts here. I have to agree with the person who said that the judges aren’t always right. Last year they loved Michael and Carly very early on. And look what happened! The voters clearly disagreed.

So after watching the entire interview, I just have to say that Simon is the last of the biggest BSers left. I wish I could site some others here. LOL. I think that it’s a little early for the judges to be predicting the final 2. I think that a couple more weeks might be needed to get a better feel of who really has a chance to win this competition or be in the final 2.

I think that the judges are underestimating Matt Giraud and Anoop. IMO, all it takes is one of these guys to really bring it and stay consistant to threaten the judges/producers favored final 2 of Danny and Adam. If they both bring it and stay consistant then it will make it that more difficult for the judges/producers to have their favorite.

I think that the judges/producers should maybe look back on last season, and remember how David Cook gained momentum and became a frontrunner over earlier favorites, Carly and Michael. I think that Matt G. is in a kind of similar position that David Cook was around this time last year.

He is not a bonafide frontrunner right now, but for the most part so far he has had consistant, decent/good peformances. All he needs is a couple of breakout peformances, like this week and the next next and he’ll be a frontrunner. And I think that he’s capable of doing that.

Anoop has some catching up to do in terms of giving consistant peformances and really establishing himself as a contender for the title. But IMO, at this point it’s not impossible for him to become a frontrunner.

But he is going to have to really step it up, pick good song choices and stay consistant if he wants to really give some of the other frontrunners/potential frontrunners, a run for their money. Last week was a good start, I hope he can really start gaining momentum, and go up from there.

I’m not sure where Kris is going to end up falling. I’m not a fan of his, but I think it’s possible if he plays his cards right he could end up going farther than a lot of people originally expected him to.

IMO, he had a decent performance last week and now more people are paying attention to him and I’ve seen a lot say that he should be in the finals now. I don’t think that after just one peformance he should be in the final, and I don’t want him to be in the final 2 regardless.

I don’t think that his peformance was on the level of DC’s “Billie Jean” or Latoya’s London’s peformance of “All by myself”, peformances where those contestants showed that they meant business and helped establish/pave their way as frontrunners.

But maybe he will have a breakout peformance, that get a lot of people in his corner and carry him far in this competition. And if he can gain momentum from that and at least stay consistant he might be able to go far in this competition.

I think that if Matt, and/or Anoop can really step it up, they can threaten the possible Adam/Danny final. I think that Kris could go farther than a lot of people originally thought he would. And I think that it’s a very strong possibility that Danny won’t win this year.

I think that there were a lot of people that became fan of his after his initial audition, of “Thank You.” which I thought was pretty good. And then they went on youtube and saw some videos of him singing with his colllege accapella group, and became bigger fans.

And I think that those videos, converted a lot of people into fans. Plus I think that he is really charismatic and that a lot of people connect with him.

Also, IMO, it looked like he had some pretty good peformances in Hollywood, from what we saw of the clips shown, including “If It’s Magic” and “What Becomes of the Brokenhearted”.

But he really only has had one good performance since he’s been on the AI stage and that was “Always on My Mind.” “Angel of Mind” wasn’t awful, but the song was boring and there was a lot of back up singing on that song, “My Pregorative” IMO, wasn’t a very good vocal, and “Beat It” was a poor performance.

I think that what has hurt Anoop so far, is that he hasn’t really proved to be a good song chooser and the fact that he has been more focused on giving energetic peformances instead of just actually singing well.

He has been choosing songs that don’t showcase his vocals, and that are ill suited for his voice or are boring. Last week was the first time since he hit the AI stage, where he actually picked a good song, and was able to showcase his vocals some.

I think that he is a good singer, he just has trouble picking good songs, that show that, and that’s why some people don’t think that he’s that good of a singer.

Plus he was more interested during some of the songs that he chose in giving energetic performances, instead of singing well, and that took his attention away from his vocals and threw them off.

But I think that if he starts choosing better songs, that showcase his vocals, and focuses on singing and less on giving energetic performances he could do well in this competition.

I think that he has a really nice and smooth voice, and is really the only contemporary R&B singer this year.

I think Matt is the real serious contender this year, he is current and I have a feeling after tonight they will pimp him bigtime as being the dark horse to win it all. Anoop, no. Danny=Taylor Hicks in no way, shape or fashion. I also think they have Kris riding under the radar.

I would love for Adam to take it all since he has the best vocal skills and IMHO is the most interesting of the whole bunch but I think Adam will be the shocking boot. Ohhh please prove me wrong America on Adam!!

Matt bugs me w/ the vibe that he puts off when preforming or his vocals .The dark horse far from it AI hand picked him from the wildcard round and they will start pimping him because he is “commercial”.90% of the time I have an inkling what makes them great even if thier not my cup of tea unfortunatly for Danny or MAtt I don’t.Diferent strokes for diferent folks I guess.If either win happy for thier fans I just won’t be popping the cork on the champian bootle.

I have the recording of his live performance on MP and his vocals were actually pretty good imo. I think it was the right song after the somewhat boring Angel song. “Beat It” was the one that didn’t suit his voice at all and hurt him a lot. Last week showed his voice and now he needs to continue on picking songs that do the same. I do think he has a large fanbase including me. I like his voice but also his personality and I think he may have attracted some of the young girls with his eyes last week. :smile1_tb:

I don’t see the similarity between Danny and Taylor at all other than neither can dance and both have a lot of fans in their seasons. I do think they’re a bit polarizing because I felt the same way about Taylor that a lot feel for Danny this season.

Really, I don’t think Anoop’s vocals have been bad at all, even during the Beat It performance. But he should ditch the backup singers.

I too believe Danny will be a surprise Boot ALA Daughtry..no disrespect to his fans..he is good, but I do not see what is so darn special about him..by the way I felt the same way about Daughtry in season 5 again no disrespect, just a matter of opinion…Adam has a Good Chance but he does have to put his OTT ness to the wayside…but based on my feelings, since the very first episode he appeared on, I believe that Matt G. will be the darkhorse and end up taking the whole thing…Matt G. FTW!!! (I always wanted to type that) :)

Not exactly ground breaking information from the judges. I pegged Lil, Danny, and Adam as the chosen top 3 before the top 13 even officially started. You don’t even have to be regularly watching the show to see that. It’s so obvious this year!
