Now Nicki Minaj is Attacking Access Hollywood on Twitter

Welp. This is becoming pretty tiresome. American Idol Nicki Minaj is off on YET ANOTHER TWITTER RANT. Today’s target are Laura Saltman and Billy Bush from the celebrity gossip site, Access Hollywood.

It all began after a piece written by Laura Saltman blasting Nicki was posted on the Access website.  The AH journalist, wrote a blistering article about how Nicki, during the post-Idol press line, refused to answer questions regarding her nasty tweets slamming fellow judge, Mariah Carey, calling her bitter and insecure.

After detailing the Mariah/Nicki feud, and describing where she felt the producers went wrong (Laura feels the panel didn’t need Nicki), Laura lays into the rapper/judge for all around bad behavior:

In my 20 years in entertainment news, I have interviewed close to 5,000 celebrities — people who have bigger bragging rights than Nicki. Men and women who have Oscars , Grammys and Emmys. Yet, by far, she is the most ungracious of anyone I have met.

Each week, she comes backstage for interviews and we are told “two questions only” while her people hover over you and even, at times, have their hand on your arm as you end your interview to make you stop. Waiver from the two-question rule and Nicki herself will walk away. She makes zero eye contact and has no connection to whomever is interviewing her. If she likes your question, she may give you a proper answer. If she doesn’t, she may give you a dirty look and walk off. After she posted mean comments about Mariah on Twitter yesterday calling her “bitter” and “insecure,” I wanted to give her the opportunity to redeem herself or perhaps apologize. I phrased my question that her comments had caused quite a stir online and asked if she had anything to say about it. She looked at me and told me my question made no sense and when I tried to explain it further she just said “goodnight” and walked off in a huff.

Eep. She finishes the lengthy article with this:

Nicki’s comments yesterday on Twitter show who she really is – a mean girl, a cyber-bully who is just perpetuating the problems of social media. When will society finally take a stand and say ‘Enough!’ with all of the hateful, spiteful things people say about each other? We are more connected than ever online but more willing to hide behind our anonymous avatars and be nasty to people we barely know. As a celebrity, I would hope that Nicki would understand her fans look to her as a role model and she should choose her words more wisely. From what I have seen of her behavior since “Idol” began, I’m not sure she is capable of this. She’s a female rapper who should be proud of her accomplishments as a woman not cutting other women down.

The truth is that 20 years from now, Mariah Carey will still be known as one of the best female vocalists of all time. Nicki Minaj – well, I will let you decide that.

As you can imagine by now. Because WE KNOW NICKI. As soon as she got wind of the article, Nicki took to twitter to chew Laura and fellow AH reporter, Billy Bush, a new a-hole.  (Billy was involved in a discussion about the incident during today’s Access Hollywood Live, apparently)

***

CHARMING.  Notice that Amber Holcomb has Nicki’s back. That’s after Laura treated her kindly in the press line and even wished her good luck on twitter.

Of course, Billy Bush is loving it! More hits and TV ratings for him! I’m sure AH will milk this feud for everything they can.

After Nicki’s nasty rant, she’s game to go on Billy’s show. Free publicity for everyone!  I understand that feuding and dissing is a part of rap culture, and in that context is maybe no big deal.  But taking that specific behavior out into the larger world? It just makes Nicki look crazy.

Laura is taking the high road. And why shouldn’t she?  At worst Laura was purposely baiting Nicki with the publication of that blistering article. Celebrity sites like AH are in the business of kissing celebrity ass and operating as part of the publicity machine.  Laura must have felt she had more to gain by telling Nicki off. Hell, I may try to bait Nicki myself, not that I’m aware of how easy it is to get a reaction. I could use the traffic!

WHO THE HELL IS NICKI’S PUBLICIST? And WHERE ARE THEY.  Maybe the philosophy is that all publicity is good publicity. Maybe for her rap career? But certainly not as a judge on American Idol.

At this point, I feel pretty confident that FOX will drop Nicki after the season is over. This freaking side show shit is BAD for the show. At a time when the focus should be on the very talented women vying for the Idol crown, it’s Nicki and her stupid antics that are dominating the news cycle.  That sort of thing may work for the Kardashians and The Real Housewives franchise, but not Idol, where the focus is SUPPOSED to be on the talent.

I have defended Nicki, long into the run of this season. If she could have just behaved professionally on and off the panel, I’d still be defending her, because she brought some life and insight to the judges table.  But this superfluous garbage? It overshadows EVERYTHING, and it really pisses me off. I want my Idol back!

Nicki’s not that bad on TV. She doesn’t have a filter on social media though. She might consider that “keeping it real.” Or, if she is as smart as she tells us, “marketing.”

  • heartly

I probably shouldn’t admit this on this site, but I haven’t actually watched this show since maybe Season 3. Overall, I think the judges are a waste of space and add nothing to the show…. if I had my way, they wouldn’t even exist. With that out of the way, Nicki is so exhausting even to me where I don’t get weekly doses of her. Sounds like she just keeps burning bridges and it’ll catch up to her soon enough. The music business really isn’t that big.

  • Larc

I think Mariah despises Nicki and I can’t say I blame her one bit.

  • http://www.facebook.com/marjanaisweird Aakash Mansukhani

    ^I second this idea.

  • bridgette12

I think Mariah knows if she engages with Nicki, the situation would only get uglier. She’s trying to stay away from her and not let the cheap shots get to her. I can’t even imagine what it’s like for someone like Mariah to have to associate with someone like Nicki.

  • Maya100

    Exactly.

  • chili1000

As parents we’re told not to reinforce our children’s bad behavior. It’s a shame that the media can’t just ignore Nicki. As long as she get’s publicity, even bad publicity, she will continue doing what she does. The media reports it, the twitterverse reacts, then her fans come to her rescue to reinforce in her mind that she was justified. JUST IGNORE HER.

  • H.A.

I personally don’t have a problem with Nicki. She’s entertaining. She’s just not right for Idol. It’s not the kind of show for her or the audience that watches the show.

  • sue

Grabs popcorn! :) Nicki is CRAZY! She is going to piss off a lot of people. Idol needs to FIRE her ass NOW!

  • fuzzywuzzy

Because they think that they know how to use them. Sad.

  • lizland

I like Nicki as a judge but she seems to have pretty thin skin. I suspect she feels that Idol didn’t support her against Mariah’s crazy accusations early on and has a chip on her shoulder ever since. She often looks embarrassed to be there. That being said, sometime she is the only on telling it like it is, and she is interesting. But I’d keep Keith and get 2 new ones.

  • fuzzywuzzy

I’m wondering if Nicki’s poor treatment of the press, and her hair trigger temper about anything Idol are signs that she’s upset and regretting her decision to be a judge on Idol. She’s been getting a lot of flack from the start, and these outbursts are only showing her to be immature, overly sensitive and unprofessional.

  • http://twitter.com/tinawinabina Tinawina

Nicki Minaj has been going off on people for years. She has random feuds all the time. She’s a hot head. This is not a new thing. They probably wanted this when they hired her. It’s entirely predictable that eventually she’d tell off someone. They probably hoped for her to do it on Live TV. LOL

This is a big part of the reason she’s polarizing in the first place. She’s not taken particularly seriously in the hip hop world either.

Maybe I’m just immune to her, but IDGAF about her stupid rants. It’s annoying but 800 things annoy me about this show this year, at least I can ignore her antics.

Man these kids got a crappy year. Talk about bad luck of the draw. Everyone hates something, negativity just surrounds the whole season.

  • H.A.

I do think she regrets it. She’s probably cursing herself on why she did. I’m actually surprised she took the job. It’s why I think artists like Pink will never take this job. There are certain artists who should never be an Idol judge. You can lose a lot of your credibility being on this show. I don’t even think the media dislikes Nicki at all. They just see the writing on the wall. Idol and Nicki just don’t mix.

  • http://twitter.com/RonnieDRocks Ronnie D

Imagine if Nicki wasn’t on the show and it was just the other three judges. It would be even worse lol. I don’t think anything Nicki does could hurt the show more than all of the lackluster performances and b.s. manipulation from the judges and produces. Hollywood is cut throat, and that reporter lady knew she was going for blood when asking Nicki about the feud with Mariah. Just like a shark. Well, Nicki is a bigger shark lol

  • milwlovesadam

can anyone say delusions of grandeur? Mayhaps a personality disorder? She needs to take a serious chill pill and knock off the deplorable low class behavior. She acts so entitled and crass. And. I zoom past her on my DVR. Cannot stand her whiney voice and her boorish behavior.

    Sigh.

I remember when Idol was about singing.

THIS^^^ right here says it all!

  • ShellyAtwood

She’s just awful. I put up with her until she talked about Candice’s weight. The only time she came off smart was when Nigel could edit her (pre-live shows).

  • taylor

There isn’t a medication for someone with a severe personality disorder.

  • http://twitter.com/desireechick Kesia Monteith

Wow…How does this chick make friends? I’ll applaud anybody who dares goes up to her say “You’re so selfish. It’s not about you, stop making it seem like everyone is out to get you.” Man….This girl need therapy. :(

  • Larc

She’s certainly a less civil one.

  • Garrett Clayman

But actually some of Nicki’s tweets are spot on, they should be asking her about Amber and the other contestants, but they keep asking about Mariah its uncomfortable

  • http://www.fatladysings.us/ TFLS

RIP Idol. Nicki just keeps driving the nails in.

  • http://twitter.com/HighTensions Jake W.

Nicki is fun and entertaining. She brought life to the judging panel. The chemistry would have been just as bad as it is without her. Mariah seems to be in a little circle with Randy. She never notices Keith.

  • Anny_nanny

I enjoy short moments ????????????? Mariah with the judges-male or with the invited guests. Mimi and Kelly on the stage was my favorite moment of this season. Mariah is great singer and she hasn’t jealous of other successful singers. I think we could have a very different season if someone has decided not to expand the table up to 4 judges. Ugh!

  • http://twitter.com/KariannHart Kariann Hart

Nick lacks class and composure. Her language leaves much to be desired.

  • breakdown

I’m not surprised with any of this but what’s up with Amber? She’s already knocked members of the press and is Nicki her role model? Not the best way to start out in the business.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Laura-Corn/100001659368831 Laura Corn

Nicki come across as uneducated, gross and so full of herself she likely to burst. She is definitely a bully and makes sure her posse has her back. Like her or not but she gets what she wants. Idol making history with her antics. Hasn’t she called perke a$$holes on air?

  • http://twitter.com/KariannHart Kariann Hart

It’s too close to the end. They will keep Nicki on the show. I would imagine we’ll be hearing some Hip Hop/Rap being performed by her at the Finale. I could handle another year of Mariah, but Nicki must go!

  • roaringpen

Nicki – I am so over you.

  • matt89

Why I’ve been on the Lady Gaga bandwagon for judge next season. Wouldn’t be anything like this. She would bring that same kind of edge, but without this horrible attitude

  • http://twitter.com/HighTensions Jake W.

I would love Lady Gaga to join the panel. She would never do it though because she is always so insanely busy. She is one of the few stars that would increase ratings. Her fans follow her every move.

  • taylor

Nicki has had a long history of problems in the workplace and when dealing with others:

    http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/951113/nicki-minaj-the-billboard-cover-story

“I’d been fired like 15 times because I had a horrible attitude. I worked at Red Lobster before that and I chased a customer out of the restaurant once so I could stick my middle finger up at her and demand that she give me my pen back. I swear to God I was bad.”

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Bug-Menot/100003601718986 Bug Menot

They asked Nicki about the tweets she made that were directed at Mariah.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Bug-Menot/100003601718986 Bug Menot

    #pow

  • HKfan

Gosh, she’s such a warm endearing person isn’t she…..not. She just isn’t, and never was, a good fit for Idol.

I thought the article from Laura Saltman was well done, she got her points across in a fair and polite way.

  • http://twitter.com/JonKills Jon Glass

Gaga wouldn’t waste her time as a judge. lol. She can make more money touring and ARTPOP is highly anticipated album.

  • abbysee

Well this is pretty much who I thought she was all along. This is also why I believe Mariah felt threatened by her during their spat that we never really got the truth about. Idol white washed that incident like Mr. Clean is their sponsor.

Nicki is volatile, arrogant, and insecure. She taunting Mariah about Jlo being on the phone may be quite ironic. I think any woman who calls another woman a cu_t is vile and disgusting. She needs to go.

  • http://twitter.com/noanaaman Noa Na’aman

I don’t understand why being a judge on Idol loses respect for the artists who take the job, while The Voice does the opposite. Look at Shakira- I think The Voice will do great things for her. I certainly respect her more now. And if Mariah knew how to edit herself maybe that would do the same for her. But in my mind, and others as it seems, Idol comes with loss of dignity. One good judge could change all of that!

  • abbysee

Ok I see it was Billy who is the__, still vile.

  • http://twitter.com/rbcomer83 Ryan Comer

So basically Nicki wants to make it all about her…. unless she’s challenged by someone, and then it’s suddenly all about the contestants. What a neat little arrangement.

  • voicesinmyhead

This is none of Laura’s business imo. It’s between Mariah and Nicki. Yes Nicki’s nasty but she’s a journalist and needs to stfu. I’m not a fan of Nicki at all and she’s a biotch but attacking someone on social media which she complained about is not cool and calling the kettle black.

  • chillj

Nicki is the gift that keeps on giving. Doubtless Laura Saltzman sees this as a potential ratings opportunity for Access Hollywood, yet, no matter her motives, she is right about the nastiness of social media and Nicki in particular. Nicki is, to quote the church lady, quite vulgar. That aside, she is mean. I can accept the vulgar, but mean makes me not buy music I would otherwise purchase.

  • chillj

Man, that was a lot of easy “likes.”

  • chillj

I don’t think Idol is hurting Mariah. Mariah is verbose and sometimes inarticulate, but she does not present as mean. I never liked her; in fact, I would switch the station if I saw her. I thought she was frivolous, affected and an airhead. She may be affected, but I actually have come to like her; she seems to be doing the best she can in a difficult situation.

  • Face

it still surprises me that anyone who visits here regularly is surprised when Nicki pulls these stunts… to me, this all seems very much like your average day at the office for Ms Minaj…

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

And this is why Mariah won’t engage with Nicki and comes out looking the better of the two:

” Free publicity for everyone! I understand that feuding and dissing is a part of rap culture, and in that context is maybe no big deal. But taking that specific behavior out into the larger world? It just makes Nicki look crazy.”
Mariah is above all this. She doesn’t feud and diss like the rappers do, and that kind of SH**T is what gets people killed. Kudos for Mariah for not being a twittering, and I bet she can’t wait to get the h*ll away from AI. The show can’t end fast enough.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

EXCUSE ME? Mariah was IGNORING NICKI? Like, who is NICKI?
Nicki is the one that started all the British accent sh**T and throwing her wig around; she’s the one who turns her back to Mariah & Randy. Are you watching the show?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

All AI had to do was give Paula the same money as Seacrest – $15Mil, and you know? They turned around and gave it to Jlo….that’s a big old slap in the face to Paula.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

AI needed to stick to the original plan — Mariah only at the table. But they went WAY overboard and brought in Nicky. I suspect it was Jimmy’s idea.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

I agree she’s entertaining and at times she makes perfect sense when judging. But for me — she’s HARD TO LOOK AT, no matter how much makeup and wigs she wears….and half the time I don’t understand her enunciation. I have to stretch my ears to understand her “accent.”

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

No baby, Nicki is “secure”….she’s got her $8Million from AI, she’s got endorsements and a record contract….plus she’s friends with LIL Wayne….she’s quite secure right now, so she don’t care about her future in the business.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

Mariah is debuting her music on Good Morning America — not American Idol….that tells you a LOT!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

Interesting you write that about regrets….because Nicki did say in an interview that being on Idol was like having a full time day job. (Read: I don’t like working this hard)

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

You know, people every season criticize the judges. They want another “Simon”….well AI gave them the female Simon….what DO YOU PEOPLE WANT! If someone is “too nice” you go off and criticize them.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

I still don’t get why they went back to 4 judges * head scratcher*….anybody know why?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

JLO and Paula had class, and the message boards blasted them….what do you PEOPLE WANT from the female judges?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

Nah, bring back Paula (I betcha!) or JLO….if not, put Queen Latifah in the spot, and don’t have TWO WOMEN FOR GODS SAKE!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

Mariah’s manager is Randy. He’s the one who got her the job, because otherwise, I don’t think she would want it. JLO wanted wanted the job. But I think Mariah was a little luke warm about taking the job, that’s why she’s getting $18million….and honestly, if I was sitting on the panel next to someone making $18Million and I was only making $8Million, I would be a bit po’d too. And I notice that each woman tries to talk “LONGER” than the other woman….I guess to show they’re earning their money.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

She’s got a big old back side…I think her backside is bigger than JLO’s….:)

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

She’s got a big old back side…I think her backside is bigger than JLO’s….:)

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

Here’s how I read this. Nicki MUST HAVE KNOWN THAT THE QUESTION WOULD BE ASKED….it’s ALWAYS asked at these interviews, or by a talk show host (Ellen asked her)….so her comeback should have been,
“I can appreciate that you want to know what’s going on at the judge’s table, but I don’t care to answer the question and instead would like to concentrate on the contestants….”
Also, is it me or does Mariah never attend the after-show interviews?
I hate comparing this year to last year’s, but honestly folks, JLO and Steven were very gracious about giving interviews. And they knew how to handle the press.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

Do you also notice that when the audience wants an autograph, they want Mariah or Keith’s autograph? I have not read one place where Nicki’s autograph is wanted. When “name” stars are in the audience, everyone — except Nicki — gets up and talks to them. I get the feeling Nic is the little girl who’s not invited to the party….and that could be what’s fueling her anger.

  • Tess

Nicki, is that you? It stopped being just Mariah and Nick’s business when it all aired in public. The “press” shouldn’t be limited to the “positives”, they have a right born on hundreds of years of history of expressing all sides of a story. If Nicki chooses to set interview rules and then chooses not to respond to a question that may put her in less than a heavenly light she chooses to garner the fall out from those questions. Nicki is a bully and uses Twitter as her bully pulpit. A taste of her own medicine is appreciated by this reader.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Nothing to be proud of, Nick. It sounds like she’s gotten much worse.

  • bridgette12

Secure people don’t attack other people when confronted. Underneath it all, Nicki wants respect and she knows people look at her and see nothing more than a ghetto rat. She can pretend she’s a big bad rapper, but all she is a lonely little girl who needs attention and the only way she gets it’s, is by showing her ass. Money can buy a lot of things, but money can’t buy respect, money can’t buy real friends and money can’t buy peace of mind. If the best any one can say about her is that she’s friends with Lil Wayne, who spends more time either in jail or in the hospital with seizures, then she got a lot of problems.

  • usedtobelucy

“Maybe Mariah isn’t such a bitch after all as has been suggested here and many other places?”

Or maybe they’re both inexplicably insecure, ego-driven divas who think it’s all about them and don’t behave like adult professionals but spend their energy giving each other the side-eye like a couple of ill-behaved fourth graders. Nicki would be the overt, loudmouthed variety (obviously) and Mariah the behind-the-scenes, passive-aggressive variety who, for some reason, must be the ONLY WOMAN ON THE SHOW. (from reports).

Just because one person is a jerk, it doesn’t necessarily make the person they’re battling a non-jerk.

  • Jordana33

After watching her in interviews, I think Lady Gaga as a judge would be equally cringeworthy, but in a different way.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

Can someone verify that Nic was a stripper? I never heard that before.

After watching her as a mentor in Season 10, just NO. She’d be another Nicki in many ways.

Classic Mean Girl: Looking at a person when they are talking as if they are idiots, even BEFORE they open their mouth. Deliberately intimidating and marginalizing. I haven’t been watching this year – just getting the news and watching key moments here.

I loved this show so much at one point that I actually attended a live show of Canadian Idol in my hometown. If she’s on next year can’t say whether long distance viewing will do it for me.

I saw Harry Connick Jr’s mentoring of Amber (awesome!) Replace Nikki with Harry. He will be tough, he really knows music. The edge will come from not knowing where he’s going to take it. Asking Amber whether she understood the lyrics was a scary moment of the best kind – it put her on the spot big-time. I felt for her. Wondering whether Nikki will “cue-tip” another judge – not scary, just plain annoying.

Harry could be as close to Simon as Idol will ever get – without the heavy-duty lording it over the other judges. Surely they can find 3 other engaging, musically knowledgeable, spirited but collaborative “plays well with others” talents to fill the remaining spots? With half the money ‘cos you don’t need big names. Paula, Simon and Randy weren’t names when they started. (OK Paula was known but not current .)

Please. So I can watch enough of a single episode to get into the show again.

  • Chicagolaw

So over Nicki Minaj. And I can’t help it, it has also affected the way I feel about her music (or, maybe it’s just the overexposure and Bieber collab)

  • jpfan2

I defended Nicki when she was first picked as a judge. . But her negativity is just too much. She’s just a sour person and needs to be replaced. They should unload Mariah too to save a few bucks. Put HC JR. on the panel but don’t let him sing any of his new songs.

  • http://twitter.com/PattiHum Pat H

Yup! It took balls for Laura to write this articel. Yes, it gets ACCESS publicity but she has now pulled the veil off! She has confirmed what many of us have suspected! Wonder if any other journalists will follow suit? Kind of the “pot calling the kettle black” when she calls Mariah insecure!

  • http://twitter.com/nsideguy25 Chris

Only if her head is together. I think she was losing her mind, more than normal, the past year and a half.

But no as a huge gaga fan I do agree no. It’s be a waste of time IMO.

  • http://twitter.com/bentley1530 Bentley1530

It is true that NM gets into fights and feuds with the press, other artists and DJs all the time, it is part of her thing. Last year she no showed at a big time radio concert because of something that one of the DJ’s said about her. So did she care that thousands of fans had paid a lot of money to see her, no, she only cared about herself.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

This just in: Mariah changes managers! From showbiz411.com:

And here’s another scoop: while we were sleeping, Mariah changed managers. She and Randy Jackson decided their schedules were too hectic. So Carey has signed with Red Light, the same place Steven Tyler just joined. Red Light is the brainchild of Corin Capshaw, the mastermind behind Dave Matthews. It’s a hot hot agency.

  • http://twitter.com/LindsayKempFan Not fit to print

You’re right. She doesn’t need this show and neither does Mariah. Neither did Simon in Season 9 and it showed. Randy still cares about the job but he’s blase. He’s seen it all and he can’t get excited about the talent in the same way. New judges should be a gift of energy but these two ladies are so self-involved they are imploding the whole show and Keith is too laid back a guy to up the dying ante.
Get away from judges who need the show so little that they don’t care enough to put in the hard word of listening and mentoring. There have to be 3 or 4 good music names out there who aren’t “Top 10″ arrogant, who know and love music enough to care about the quality of the performances and the improvement of the young artists who show up with a passion to work for their approval.

  • dabney c

The fact that feuding is part of “rap culture” is just f’ing insane. Nicki has a big mouth and no impulse control and this kind of thing is worshiped? Sickening!! And I’m bummed that Amber tweeted her support for Nicki’s craziness – just when I finally got over her Slezak diss. :(

  • chillj

I think contestants would hate working with Harry Connick, but having him around would be like four years of music college for them.

  • 1rollbounce2

Someone should ask Nicki who she wants to be like – when she grows up.

  • dabney c

I’m always stunned when she uses such vile language about people she has to deal with daily. Can you imagine calling your co-workers “bitter and insecure” in public – IN WRITING – and then having to face them the next day in the office? It’s completely mad, like the world is upside down … and it’s becoming more and more acceptable every day thanks to idiot celebrities like Nicki Minaj, who encourage their followers to be ignoramuses with no basic social etiquette . urgh.

  • http://twitter.com/LindsayKempFan Not fit to print

Nikki would be too many judges on a two-judge panel.

  • http://twitter.com/Miztig Miz

I just saw that. Evidently a lot of Mariah fans have started following me after I tweeted support to Laura. Somebody made sure I saw this.

  • http://twitter.com/tinawinabina Tinawina

Not exactly. What is celebrated in hip hop is being outspoken and answering your critics… On record. Feuds are played out in verses that get traded back and forth. Sometimes people will snipe back and forth in the press if it gets really personal. For example, you’d never catch Jay Z going nuts on twitter, but he might write a verse about you if you piss him off enough. Nicki always takes it way past that level. She’s at the edge like Kanye West. She’s been accused of being disrespectful to her elders in hip hop as well. Like I said, it’s nothing new for her. This is how she is.

  • http://twitter.com/Miztig Miz

It seemed like these girls actually loved working with Harry. They appreciated his humor and that he was honest with them about music … which is what it should be all about.

  • http://twitter.com/Miztig Miz

    Who cares?

  • http://twitter.com/Miztig Miz

According to Laura, Mariah attends (unless she has a commitment she has to leave early for) and is gracious in answering all questions.

  • Indigobunting

I think it basically boils down to CLASS. Which has no relation to economic or celebrity status. Even if you are asked a stupid question, why be so unclassy about it?
I’m sure she has some kind of PR person, but obviously doesn’t listen to them.
She doesn’t bother me on Idol too much (except for the annoying nasal voice which she can’t help-but she could stop the “Contestant 3, how ARE you dahling” every time-what a waste of time).
But wow on the Twitter comments, yikes. And Laura Saltman seems like a nice person from what I’ve seen before.

  • http://twitter.com/Miztig Miz

I’ve seen Nicki more times then I care to admit doing interviews and I always find her extremely disrespectful and self-absorbed. She’s this way even when the interviewer is going out of their way to kiss her ass.

I normally try to look for the good in people and I champion the underdog if warranted, particularly when the media is on attack. But there is nothing here that I can get behind with her.

Mariah annoys me at times in her own way, but is lightyears ahead of Nicki.

  • http://twitter.com/Miztig Miz

    WHat is ‘perke’?

  • http://twitter.com/Miztig Miz

All I saw was Amber telling Nicki she loved her. I’m not going to fault her for that. I doubt she even knew what was going on.

  • http://twitter.com/Miztig Miz

It also was related to the previous night’s show with the on air feud. You putting that stuff out there, expect to be asked about it.

Questions to Amber should be about Amber.

  • http://twitter.com/Miztig Miz

I think this was an emotional piece for Laura and something she had to get off her chest. Everyone treats Nicki with kid gloves for whatever reason. Maybe they want to appear cool and hip, or they are afraid of her and her very very scary fans and bringing themselves down to her level.

It took courage to write it and I applaud Laura for that.

  • http://twitter.com/Miztig Miz

I get the distinct feeling Mariah may just be avoiding contact with that end of the table, not Keith. She is visibly uncomfortable. She doesn’t agree with Randy many many times.

  • http://twitter.com/Miztig Miz

I couldn’t stand Simon most of the time. He brought mean and bullying to prime time and it became the model.

The talent show judges from The SIng Off are the ones I like to see emulated: Respectful to the contestants and each other and offering constructive critique. The Voice is close to that.

  • http://twitter.com/Miztig Miz

I won’t go as far as to say Nicki doesn’t like to work. In fact, I think she probably does work hard in her own capacity. I do not think she can function with schedules and rules or not being in full control. I also do not think she can function within the confines of live network and prime TV. She has zero respect for other people’s time.

  • dlpf

I completely agree with you on that weight comment. That was just so wrong on so many levels. What an appalling thing to say.

  • b_james

Ok. I’ve officially had enough. Producers basically ruined Idol by signing her on. I firmly believe the ratings wouldn’t have tanked like they did had it just been Keith/Randy/Mariah.

  • http://twitter.com/Miztig Miz

Actually, that was a tweet to Ryan about Billy Bush calling him a young Ryan diva or something.

  • http://twitter.com/Miztig Miz

I thought Mariah’s music video was going to be shown. Not sure if it’s next week or finale week.

  • http://twitter.com/Miztig Miz

Lil Wayne just lost his Pepsi/Mt Dew endorsement over offensive lyrics. It’s interesting that one of Nicki’s tweets says she don’t need no endorsements. I wonder if she lost hers too.

  • taylor

In the article above, Laura points to a specific time when she asked Mariah about an incident at the judges table and her publicist suggested for Mariah to pass on giving a comment.

Laura then goes on to say this about interviewing Mariah in after-show interviews:

“Mariah may have her quirks, but she is always very gracious in her answers and perfectly willing to poke fun at herself.”

  • taylor

Nicki is making 12 million and there might have been some kind of agreement with her contract with Pepsi on top of that.

Minaj needs to get over the fact that someone else is seen as more valuable than her, because that is how it is in the world. There will always be someone making more money than she is, or someone who is selling more albums or has more #1s or has more Grammy Awards, etc.

Nicki has a severe personality disorder and her insecurities are magnified because of it. She can’t handle the normal facts of life that most people learn to accept at a very young age. It’s like she is always stuck at being a five year old. Nicki is a thirty year old women with the maturity level of a small child.

  • matt89

Anyone but Jlo. Brought absolutely nothing to the table

  • matt89

Mariah has been the grown-up here. She hasn’t ranted and raved

  • taylor

Lil Wayne? He’s “like a brother to her” and her mentor.

Wayne was just dropped from Mountain Dew for using these lyrics in one of his rap songs:
“Pop a lot of pain pills/Bout to put rims on my skateboard wheels/Beat that p*ssy up like Emmett Till”

Emmett Till was a 14-year-old African American boy who was tortured and killed in 1955 for whistling at a white woman in Mississippi.

  • heartly

I’m going to ignore the part where you called me “baby” because well… just don’t.

Nicki may have all the money now, I have a hunch she won’t have it forever. It’s very stupid that the future wouldn’t be thought of. She didn’t get where she is now without the help of others and there’s going to come a time where she needs help again and that includes media outlets.

  • abbysee

    Yep that’s her mentor. Disgusting!

  • shell29

I agree…I’m not a huge Amber fan but I see no reason to make her a villain in this situation and link her with Nicki’s foolishness. As far as her tweet to Slezak, much ado about nothing IMO…that isn’t going to make or break her.

  • http://twitter.com/mimislittlelamb Arif

you know what sucks…I’ll always be a L4L and Mimi is my queen but i also liked Nicki…she does speak her mind and I respect that. I have no idea what the issue between the two is and honestly i loved it when they got along like in the Up out my face video…but the media is goading her to get a reaction and unfortunately she’s not ignoring it so it can just slide. the more she goes off on people the more room they have to make stuff about her and vilify her. I hope she gets it together

  • shell29

Exactly…she was the same way before she got the Idol gig. This is par for the course with Nicki. I guess her “Barbz” love her for it…I’m like whatever. I’m over her, over the spat with Mariah (and I won’t take sides in that one-both of them need to just let it go), over it all really.

  • Lexee234

Oh Nicki. Despite all of her bravado, Laura obviously got under her skin. How many tweets was that around this subject? Nicki can dish it out, but she sure can’t take it. She’s a lotta talk. If she’d just make her point without the foul language and attacks, people might listen to what she has to say. No wonder Mariah gets exasperated. Good for Laura calling her out. It had to feel good regardless any attacks she got from Nicki fans. I especially loved the ‘bigger bragging rights” quip. hee hee Throw down! Idol must rue the day they hired her.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

All these rappers (and celebs) need & want endorsements….that’s what they live for, because you don’t have to do a thing to earn $1-5Mill….just go for a photo shoot and get a check! Easy money.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

I agree. Randy mentioned Gordon Ramsey as a judge, not a bad suggestion.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

Was she a stripper? For real?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

Her music video, yes, but SHE IS PERFORMING ON GMA, not on Idol.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

    Only 2 weeks to go.

  • Da 1 N Only

Don’t be so gullible, she’s not ranting & raving because she is using her surrogates in the media to do it for her. She gets the desired result without getting her hands dirty, I’ll just call this a different type of idol manipulation.

  • bridgette12

There wouldn’t be a problem is Nicki wouldn’t engage like an idiot on twitter. If Nicki is this easily manipulated, she’s bigger than what she appear to be.

  • Lexee234

You see, I don’t think the media ‘goads’ her. I think she’s just naturally nasty. She doesn’t know any better.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

“I am the female Kanye cunt”? WTH? And then she calls the woman a “ho”?…..that is so ghetto.

  • http://twitter.com/KariannHart Kariann Hart

It’s not like she’s some 17 year-old kid with a limited vocabulary. I simply cannot respect a person who writes these nasty tweets. I hope she won’t be back next year!

  • WestiesRule

    It’s just all bad

  • http://twitter.com/LindsayKempFan Not fit to print

The breadth of his musical talent and knowledge leaves me speechless…..

  • http://twitter.com/LindsayKempFan Not fit to print

Yup! And they will have 4 judges again. Four audience markets to draw in. All of this panel should go. Guys are too laid back and predictable. Gals – it doesn’t need repeating.

  • EB

All so transparent, no? When someone accurately exposes her for the rude and entirely unprofessional person that she is, she flips her lid. The truth always hurts.

Sad too that Amber was supporting it… her bitchy retort to Slezak back in mind. I don’t blame Nicki for everything but seriously. How can anyone see her rants and total unwillingness to be humble for one second and not make more sense of how TERRIBLE this season’s contestants have handled Twitter? Her influence is such a poor one, in almost every way.

  • Axxxel

Laura Saltman tried to out Chris Colfer (Glee) in an interview while this 19 year old actor was still in the closet and one of the other Access Hollywood interviews with Chris Colfer marked the beginning of the “I heard it on twitter firing ” Glee PR drama… So as a Chris Colfer fan, I have a bitter taste in the mouth with Access Hollywood… so I can imagine how Nicki must have felt after reading Saltman’s rant.

  • Axxxel

Out with the old, in with the new…

  • Axxxel

Laura is very good in baiting people and Nicki must have been very aware of this and therefore refused to talk to her..unfortunately Nicki fell into Laura’s internet claws and did not take a deep breath or 100 before she started her rant…

  • Axxxel

Absolutely…no sympathy for Laura Saltman or the media in this Nicki Rant case .. Laura provoked and bullied and unfortunately Nicki fell for it …

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

I’m still trying to find out — was Nic a stripper? I never heard that….not that it matters….

  • bridgette12

I don’t feel a bit sorry for Nicki. She got her feelings hurt, but has no problem saying mean things about the lady sitting just down the table from her on the judges table. She can’t expect sympathy and kindness when she gives none in return. Nicki is a vicious little viper who goes after anyone whom she don’t like.

  • http://twitter.com/LindsayKempFan Not fit to print

Agree. Her judging comments will be handed down like the 10 commandments. This year the contestants have been upstaged by the judges. Next year they will be upstaged by hats. and shoes, and outfits.

  • tucker davis

I agree with you. Mariah is coming across to me as really caring about the contestants. I guess I thought she was so self-absorbed that the contestants would be ignored, but I’m pleasantly surprised at her attention.

  • meloday

Have to disagree with you on this one, mj. Makes more sense those who follow Nicki and all this twitter feuding will tune in to see what’s up.

  • matt89

Trust me, there’ll be another overhaul for next season, and Nicki will be “gone, gone gone”

  • http://kristentheyellowlab.blogspot.com/ ZsusK

Awww! Poor Laura Saltman. NOT. An entertainment reporter is never, ever a victim in my eyes. They are always, always shoving mics in the faces of celebrities and asking awkward questions to get a video op. Nicki was at fault, too, but PLEASE. Victimizing the Access Hollywood reporters? No can do.

  • http://kristentheyellowlab.blogspot.com/ ZsusK

It hasn’t worked yet…in fact it’s been the opposite. The ratings have tanked DESPITE the distracting feuds. I can’t see why it would suddenly change.

  • http://kristentheyellowlab.blogspot.com/ ZsusK

Yet, we worship the grabby-hands of the entertainment reporters who are trained to take their subjects off guard to get a gossipy headline. The interviews after the show were meant to be about Amber. Laura Salzman knew this. Actually, she did her job by turning Nicki’s refusal to respond to her about the Mariah thing into a major story. But, can we please get real? I mean, OMG, Laura Salzman! HOW BORING!

  • http://kristentheyellowlab.blogspot.com/ ZsusK

I don’t think Nicki cares about the ratings. And that’s the problem with having established stars on the judging panel. They are there to promote their product and brand, not to build the AI ratings.

  • http://twitter.com/Miztig Miz

Where in this article does anyone say she was a stripper? You keep posting this.

  • raminasr75

Yeah agreed Nicki could have just answered with ‘we need to focus on Amber and not anything else tonight’ and shut the whole thing down in a classy way. Also I am not even sure Mariah’s initially #1 singles comment was even a diss at Nicki, let’s face it she hasn’t been the most quick on her feet in the live shows from the start so I doubt she was trying to be malicious with that comment.

  • http://twitter.com/KariannHart Kariann Hart

I would love to see what Queen Latifah would bring to the show. If there are two women, make sure the second one isn’t a celebrity!

  • http://twitter.com/KariannHart Kariann Hart

I was hoping that Idol would sign one of those judges for the show. What a cool panel on The Sing Off!

  • Mateja Praznik

    Cool panel? Not really.

  • http://www.facebook.com/susann.fritsch Susann Fritsch

Yes, really. Three VERY respected musicians with long-term, multi-faceted careers who gave educated critiques that actually taught the contestants AND the audience something about music and vocalizing. Educated = cool. At least in my universe.

A trash-talking egotistical maniac is about as far from cool as the gates of hell are.

  • Karen C

I think that Mariah tried to give critiques that were more about vocals and music, but most of the time, but her thoughts were kind of unorganized. Keith did give musical critiques also. I actually like this panel other than Nicki.

I agree the Sing Off panel was really good, especially Ben Folds.

  • Karen C

That’s one of the things when Idol picks judges. To some extent they are kind of a role model for the contestants. What kind of role model is Nicki?

  • Mateja Praznik

Idol is an entertainment show. Casual viewers want to be entertained. The judges are not hired to give constructive critiques to everyone every week. Sure they will give some good advice here and there, but mostly their job is to influence the public vote with whatever they say. Contestants get more than enough feedback and mentoring from the people behind the scenes.

  • bridgette12

Nicki isn’t being a jerk. She’s being so low class and foul that jerk is too kind of word.

  • edisto

They say that people who have to use profanity have do so because they have a limited vocabulary Miss Minaj. There is nothing worse than trash with money that doesn’t know it’s trashy,.

  • deshae78

I cannot believe Nicki is calling ppl hoes, c**nts, & a lot of other nasties on Twitter! Wth is wrong with her? I used to support Nicki on the show, I thought she DID bring a lot of life into Idol, but my gosh STFU. Talk about insecure. Nicki is successful, but yet she has a HUGE chip on her shoulder…what is she so angry about? And she wantsto talk about other ppl keeping women down? What?? I’m sorry but Nicki has no class, I don’t care what kind of diva you are, you can’t act like you’re 30 something rather than a spoiled teenager with no class? Come on. Who the hell was this girl raised by? Seriously, leave your rap crap attitude at home babe.
It’s very funny how she blasts someone for not focusing on the contestants…girl has no insight.

  • deshae78

I so agree with you. If I hear that word in particular come out of a person’s mouth I’m done.

  • jobeob987

Just smh at this. Nicki says that God is on her side and that she is blessed and yet she thinks it’s okay to call people some pretty awful names. I agree that on another show, this might fly but not on Idol where the talk should be about the CONTESTANTS.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

I know one thing: I just saw Tap Out the new video she and Lil Wayne released, and it is the worst, nasty lyric recording….omg, the words they say in that video, I had to turn it off. I don’t know how she expects to be a crossover artist being that she talks some of the most sexually suggestive, nasty words. If this is the path that she and Lil Wayne want to take in music, they will never be a #1 hit recording duo, and I’m sure parents and families went to the internet to see who/what Nicki was rapping and they didn’t approve.
Maybe she should be a judge on Dance Crew or something more “hip/hop”….but I will not look at her again with any respect after listening to that video.
And it was packed with D-list/E-list celebs like Paris Hilton….sorry for the music industry. I wonder if Jimmy cares about this?

  • fuzzywuzzy

“I also do not think she can function within the confines of live network and prime TV. She has zero respect for other people’s time.”

On “The View”, they recap Idol and commented when Nicki was late that she had also narrowly missed being late for her appearance on “The View” a while back. Nicki appears to have a reputation of being late and not respecting other people’s time or schedule.

  • Incipit

“…these outbursts are only showing her to be immature, overly sensitive and unprofessional.”

~Le Sigh~ Nicki pullin’ sh!t again. OK, finally read the post – You left out “impatient” fuzzywuzzy, if Nicki has regrets – she only has to maintain some equilibrium for two more weeks and she’s outa there – two lousy weeks. Just sit down, please.

We, OTOH, have a longer wait to see if that will be the end of it for the audience – wish that snapping the fingers so she would go *poof* was an option. I want to start forgetting she was there, already. Thanks a lot, Darnell.

  • http://twitter.com/KariannHart Kariann Hart

It has been a bad experience dealing with Nicki this season. Paula would often talk about what the contestant wore, but it didn’t bother me as much as when Nicki gets off track. Yes, let’s discuss the contestants!

  • Happyhexer

Oy, what a problem child! I passed on the pre-Idol debate about Nicki joining as a judge. I didn’t know anything about Nicki, so I was neutral and wanted to form my own opinion. I’d seen her perform twice on TV — on New Years Eve and on Idol. Rap is not my thing, but I do think Nicki is talented and attractive. But again, what a problem child! Someone here used the word “volatile” to describe Nicki, and that word is most apt. Someone else also speculated that she might be bipolar. I have no idea, but it wouldn’t surprise me if she has some mental health issues. At the least, she appears to have no filter and no impulse control. She is very demanding and controlling, and she doesn’t act well when she doesn’t get her way.

I have based my opinion on how I have seen Nicki behave on Idol, and what I’ve seen and heard of her off-Idol behavior. She is everything she has accused Mariah of being — especially the insecure part. (Funny how we tend to project our own flaws onto others.) I like (in some respects) both Nicki and Mariah, but I’m not a fan of either. I don’t like when Mariah acts passive-aggressive, but from what I’ve seen of Nicki, I suspect we’ve only seen the tip of the iceberg. I do believe that Mariah has been genuinely fearful at times. I know I would be. I don’t do well with volatile people.

I don’t know anything about Laura Saltman, but I’m generally not that fond of media people. But it isn’t any one thing for me, but the cumulative impact of Nicki’s behavior. Yes, Nicki at times can be very funny and entertaining, and at times she been a very good judge. But that is outweighed by all the nastiness. Nicki fatigues me.

  • http://twitter.com/LindsayKempFan Not fit to print

They are fighting in public on Twitter and on a TV show. How is this not the business of an entertainment writer? A journalist’s job is exactly the opposite of stfu.

  • http://twitter.com/LindsayKempFan Not fit to print

LOL, if she leaves, she will keep on “giving” all next year. Wanna bet lot’s of trash-talking the show through next season. Free publicity. The girl can’t help herself.
