Monday Morning Mediabase Update: May 6-12

This week we have just two radioplay milestones from reality singing show contestants. It is probably worth noting that a single judge had more milestones than that. Mariah Carey’s “#Beautiful” exploded onto the charts going straight from nowhere to 21st on Pop, 33rd on Urban and 21st on Rhythmic. Her spincrease on Pop alone was 3429. Given that her last single didn’t do much, these reality singing shows should stop paying judges to be on their shows. I know, I know. It’s just not the shows (one still needs a good song), but their ability to revive careers seems pretty strong.

As for the reality show contestants themselves, Fantasia gets her third milestone in as many weeks with “Without You” featuring Kelly Rowland (another reality show judge). It moves into the top 30 on Urban.

Meanwhile, Vicci Martinez’s “Come Along” featuring Cee Lo (yet another reality singing show judge/mentor/coach) continues its long road to success by reaching top 30 on AAA.
