Smily pic of Lee = best pic ever! Simply gorgeous. Methinks he is very happy!

  • idolfan92

“Me and My Jealousy” better be the 2nd single!! It should’ve been the first – so amazing!! Sad he didn’t do it live but I’m sure we’ll hear it live soon!

  • rivermaya

Hi MJ. Glad you had fun at the concert. We’re following the concert through tweets and 10 songs kinda went fast. Can’t wait for your full recap and videos.

  • aprilfoolish

I’m so happy for Lee! It sounded like he put on a great show! Thank you for the link to hear those four songs, I got to listen extensively to Me & My Jealousy and Brooklyn Bridge. Awesome songs!! If m&mj is released as a single, I think it could be successful. Not sure what genre it is…..is amazing a genre?

  • crankypanky

there’s also a full song of “DEAR ISABELLE” from that same website to listen to some of Lee’s tracks.

Since Me and My Jealousy and Brooklyn Bridge are the only ones mentioned here, i’ll repost the link for Dear Isabelle.

Thanks! Great coverage of the concert as usual!! Feel like it’s the idol tour all over again, except 9 idols are missing :(

  • tigervixxxen

MJ, your screencaps are stunning. Thanks so much for sharing and I can’t wait for your videos!

  • Trina

I’m on the train heading home and my Blackberry connection is spotty, but oh man what a show! Lee and his band should be very happy and proud of the show they put on. They sounded fantastic. Lee was in great voice and the band is really tight. Hearing the songs live just makes me want the CD now!

PS Chris is totally my new boyfriend LOL he’s just darling!

  • tessa

LOVE, love “Me & My Jealousy”. Thank you for posting the links!

  • cristististi

Watched the Stay Here vid. It’s one of my faves so far based on the snippets.. and I LOVE it live, no surprise! Lee just looks so thrilled to be there, and his voice is amazing :D

  • artemis

The Stay Here video is great. Stay Here has been stuck in my head since I first heard the song snippets-it’s very upbeat and catchy.

  • AIaddict

Love that song Stay Here. It’s a fun song. Thanks @ItsMyTime for posting so fast.

  • Landmd

Wow love Stay Here!! Lee looked so happy, we got lots of smiles! The band looked like they were having fun! Thank you @ItsMyTime for the video!

  • stay4awhile

Stay Here was so good! Lee and the band were great, seemed so comfortable and easy for all of them.

  • AIaddict

Nice shots mj! what a cutie and a happy camper to be playing his own music again.

  • sma11ie

Hey MJ! I’m back too. Grabbed a late dinner with dad, so I wasn’t in too much trouble for ditching him, lol. So it turns out that Sony bloggy thing is a flipcam, not a phone! Man, now I’m jealous of everyone who won one =P. Thanks again for taking a pic for me! Anyway, can’t wait to see your awesome vids and relive the whole thing and figure out the names and such of the songs I liked!

You guys are in for a treat- she’s not kidding about the front and center thing. AND she got video of the whole thing- banter, everything. I’m so glad I went. Lee is much better live than he came across on TV. I liked a bunch of songs, but I don’t know the names of most of them cuz i refuse to listen to clips before a full stream. I really dug the stripped down acoustic moments- oh and I really dug Live It Up- that one I knew, haha.

  • bamintx

Can you imagine the relief he’s feeling. He’s still got an awful lot to do, but the pressure of writing an album by a certain date, pushing your creativity, under less than ideal circumstances, must have been daunting – or at least it would be for me! So happy for him. And from everything I’ve heard so far I’m going to love this album

  • Katya

Hey mj! Thanks for the updates. The pics are awesome! I’m glad you enjoyed the show. :)

Trina, it’s great that you were able to watch the show too. I just saw the first videos of the show, he does sound great with his band.

  • tigervixxxen

Cool you got to go too Sma11ie, thanks for the recap! I’m feeling more and more lucky that I get to see Lee perform at a jingle ball very soon :)

  • stay4awhile

Thanks so much to everyone who’s posting pictures and videos! ASAL is absolutely incredible, gave me chills. Can’t even imagine how epic it must have been for those of you who were lucky enough to score tickets!

  • Weebs787

Wow “A Song About Love” is incredible. Glad you had a good time MJ!

  • TheRedBeanie

ASAL was my favorite of the set. It gave me chills, chills, chills.

  • aprilfoolish

A Song About Love was wonderful, It made me want to comfort him! There is so much to listen to, my favorites keep changing! Thanks to everyone who got to go and brought back pictures and videos.

  • ldjfan

Sometimes people question Lee’s talent on this blog and I wonder if maybe I could be wrong about how strongly I feel about his voice and his music. No more, I know I have been right all along. That performance of A Song About Love was one of the best performances I’ve ever seen from anyone. And the other 3 songs I’ve seen so far are sooooo impressive. Yes, Lee deserved to win AI, for sure! Love that man!

  • bamintx

Dear Isabelle – what fun! Love it. Boy, Lee was really on tonight! Great job.

Thank you so much for all the vids and the great pics! I keep wanting to watch him sing these songs over and over.

  • jennyl

I’m in Lee heaven now. Wow just wow. Thank you MJ for the great videos and screencaps. Thanks ItsMyTime for the videos too. Imkhemari thanks for that link. I just melted into goo for Brooklyn Bridge. Haha. Me and Me Jealousy is amazing. (Yes, it should be a single) I love Dear Isabelle. Looks like he changed it up again for the live performances and I loved it.

I’m glad those who went had fun. Lee and the band looked so happy and relax. This album is rainbow colors to me.

Yeah, it’s the WGWG uniform ;)

  • Ever_wonder_why

WOW great performance! Lee was on his game tonight and the band sounded fantastic! Thanks to all who took video to share and tweeted during the concert.

The few full songs I’ve heard from the album sound great and of course we can always depend on Lee to provide new interpretations for the live shows! :)

  • karenc

I saw the videos, and I think Lee was terrific. I liked him all of last season, and had gotten his earlier albums. I loved his voice from the beginning on the show, think he has a really soulful and alternative rockish voice.

I really like what I’ve heard on the new album. From these performances, I really liked Live it Up and a Song about Love. The song that I really love on the album is Me and My Jelousy. I liked it from the snippet and loved hearing the whole song. I also think it could be a hit single.

I’m really hoping his album does well. I think it has a lot of potiential. I think it’s close to the type of alternative rock that has been successful in recent years, like Train, and I like Lee’s music more than theirs.

  • MonochromaticFriend

I checked out MJ’s videos and ItsMyTime’s videos. (Thanks guys!) Lee and the band sounded AWESOME. I have to say, I wasn’t really sold on the 1 min snippet of Beautiful Like You on FB. The opening verse seemed a little weak. The live version really blew me away though. It’s a strong song from front to back, the bridge sounds good, and the lyrics are accessible and very radio-friendly. Plus, it sounds GREAT live, or at least youtube-live. I’m not sure how radio-friendly the current version on the album is (Wiki says it’s 5 min long?) but the thing just sounds like a potential bona-fied hit to me.

Loved the vibe on Stay Here and Dear Isabelle as well. If Lee can find some radio success, Stay Here might be a good follow-up to SS. It’s got a similar feel to it and is incredibly catchy. Earth Stood Still is a very sweet song with a nice melody. Reminds me a bit in vibe of that Matt Nathanson song that went up the charts a while back.

  • kvwicks13

Mj, thanks for the videos, Lee sounded and looked great. He really looked relaxed up there. I have to listen to them again to decide my favorites.

  • loveroftalent

Lee and his band did a great job. Happy for him and his fans.

    Yeah, it’s the WGWG uniform

I love it. From this day forward “WGWG” is dead. Long live WGWGIP (in plaid) :)

Fantastic night. Thanks to MJ, iheartradio, Lee and his incredible new band and everyone else that made it possible for us to attend the release of Live It Up. What a great start for Lee. He was so happy and he sang and performed his new songs so well on what seems to have been very short notice since the band formed.

I also want to thank Lee’s family. All night, venue staff said Lee would not be coming out. But Lee being Lee finally came out and took pictures, signed autographs, and gave hugs, all while his family patiently waited for him in the car. So thanks to the DeWyze family for sharing Lee with us last night. I’m sure they don’t get to see him enough these days, so it was very sweet that they gave us a few minutes last night.

I’m just so impressed with Lee the man. He’s a great musician and songwriter, and he just seems like a really nice, genuine person. I’m proud to be a Lee fan.

  • AIaddict

Just watched Dear Isabelle and got a kick out of that one! :) I loved it. the folk rocker really came out on that one. It sounded nothing like the recorded version.

  • Elliegrll

Just watched Dear Isabelle and got a kick out of that one! I loved it. the folk rocker really came out on that one. It sounded nothing like the recorded version.

You took the words out of my mouth, but I was going to add that I think this version would be a bigger radio hit than the recorded version. I like the 30 second snippet that was on amazon, but I lost interest towards the end of the full recorded version, and my first thought was that the song needed more oomph and drive. After seeing the video from last night, I realize that the song needs this arrangement.

  • rivermaya

Lee totally “killed” it from the first song all through the very last one.
I’ve always loved that he gives so much energy and passion to his songs and he did not disappoint.
He sings it like his life depended on it and I love him for that!
Love his rendition of ASAL. I got goosebumps just watching him sing it and I thought Hallelujah cannot get any better ( I thought this was one of his best thus far).

After listening to the full version of all the songs , I’d say there are waaaay more single-worthy songs than I expected: BLY and M&MJ are great. SH could be a good upbeat follow-up song to SS.
Even songs like Weightless, Earth Stood Still turn out really good ( snippets really did not do justice ).
    * too bad he didn’t do M&MJ & BB which I really like but listening to the full version of it was good enough.

He looked really happy , comfortable and “at home” on stage last night. And I cannot say enough except that I am so very proud of Lee and I’ll be a fan for life!

  • stay4awhile

Dear Isabelle is a lot different. I love the recorded version, but the live performance was even better. I can’t stop watching it. :)

  • suziq

I am almost crying for joy after seeing these amazing videos. It is so wonderful to see Lee having such a great time. I think everyone who attended this concert is so lucky. It was really special and Lee was so happy and relaxed. I admit I was a bit bummed after Leno. But now I feel so good again…this is the Lee I love, he is talented, he nailed these songs, and I loved every damn video!! Loved the banter, the smiles, the music…and Slezak and US mag can kiss my ASS! This is a good album. I am so frikkin happy now!

  • http://youtube.com/user/ConcertCameraCat Sparkles

Very nice videos & photos. I especially like the one of his guitar player, because he’s cute of course. You were on the Lee bandwagon way earlier than most so it’s cool that you got to see him in a small venue & up close.

  • artemis

MJ-thanks so so much for the videos. :)

I feel so happy watching Lee in his element-he is great performing live! I already knew that from watching him at the Idol Tour this summer, close to the stage, but I look forward to seeing him singing his own music. I think we are going to be seeing a lot of different versions of Dear Isabelle!

wow, just got through all the videos and pictures! thanks so much mj for this post and for everyone who helped with the twitter lists and all. as someone mentioned upthread, this is just lee heaven! what an epic night all around, lee was awesome with the performances, his band was really tight (not to mention, goodlooking!), he was finally singing his songs from his debut album, and he was amidst family and friends/fans. no wonder he was just animated, smiling, bantering with the crowd, overwhelmed, and humbled at the same time.i just can’t stop watching these videos, lol!

there wasn’t one song that i didn’t like, he just sang them with passion, it makes you feel the songs. but if i had to choose, my faves at the moment are: SH, DI, BLY, ASAL & ESS. after hearing ESS, i realized that this was the song in that “jamming in the studio” video. i had this big goofy smile listening to that song, pretty love song. this SS performance was fun. lol at the people who thought it was way too difficult to sing -even the crowd was singing along in perfect timing. lastly, that hallelujah version is just all kinds of epic! man, just when you thought he has sang every version he could think of, he goes off and just kills it (again)! this dude just make me proud to be a fan. love his music, love him :)

Thanks for the link. After listening to the album I have to give kudos to RCA for letting Lee make an album that represents the type of music that fits him. But, aside from Sweet Serendipity, there aren’t a lot of radio friendly songs on the album, so I hope that both RCA and 19 sees that they have something special with Lee, but they will have to take their time to develop him, and help him find his audience. Neither Dave Matthews or Jack Johnson get a lot of airplay, but both sell a lot of records, and do very well touring. Lee can find the same success if RCA and 19 promote him well, be patient, and let people know what type of artist he is.

Thanks for the link Tigervixxxen!! I have really enjoyed the video’s thank you everyone!

What a great day to be off from work! Kicking back and totally enjoying MJ’s and ItsMyTime videos…thanks so much to both of you for getting them downloaded so quickly. So glad a few of the Lee fans on MJ’s were able to go Live It Up :)

Really loved the new songs AND what an amazing version of Hallelujah!

Reviews are pouring in and here’s one that captures every element about Lee & his music

I just listened to Lee’s whole album on that link and I think there are a lot of good songs on there.

I still don’t like SS and there are also two that sound like cast-offs from David Cook (sorry Cookie fans – I loved him on the show but just hate that modern American rock sound) but most of the songs are really good. This might be the first true songwriter album from an Idol.

This is a really promising start for Lee. I don’t expect it to sell tons but he will gain a lot of respect with these songs IMO.

ETA: Just found out that Lee didn’t write one of the songs I hate (Beautiful Like You). Glad to hear it.

  • Weebs787

I’m not ready to admit how many times I’ve listened to the full album yet. I like it though. I can admit that :)

There’s a scan from a Billboard article just out “6 questions with Lee Dewyze” http://bit.ly/97Daaz

Question 6 asks Where do you see yourself 10 years from now? He says

I’d like to have a couple of albums under my belt, get a lot of touring under my belt. Doing a lot of performances and writing, not just for myself but for other people

Songwriting is obviously a pretty high priority for Lee to include it as one of his 4 longterm gaols. I rather imagine this last few months of writing with different top class songwriters has been like a post graduate course for someone who was basically self taught, and I’m looking forward to these future songs when this experience is fully integrated and allowed to flower.

  • aprilfoolish

There has been so much to read and see! This is exciting time for Lee, kind of like Christmas morning….lots to anticipate! I hope he totally enjoys performing the album he’s worked so hard on. I think he did a wonderful job, I can’t wait to get my album(s) next week!!
Thank you mj for the videos and pictures, I’m so glad you got to go and see his performance.

  • Dlynne

tigervixxxen, thanks for the link to the stream. I love the album. I’m so happy that it is really and truly Lee. There are about five songs that I think are very radio friendly. I can’t wait to be able to crank it up in my car next week!

MJ, thanks for the videos and photos! I feel like I went to the concert, too!

  • Imkhemari

Thank you tigervixxxen for the link to the full stream, I particularly appreciate it having been unable to access the AOL stream from overseas, I was so jealous of everyone enjoying full versions! Especially knowing it would be a couple of weeks before the ordered CDs arrive (NZ itunes doesn’t have LIU for sale!)

And all the photos and vids from the live performance – many thanks to those involved. Lee looks so happy and relaxed to be performing his album!

Now though, I’m just wordless – its like a banquet,I keep sampling a bit here and a bit here, my attention flickering from one song to another. I’m just discovering them all! Ask me next week … or month … or year ……

:) Hardly. Not a single solo original. Taylor Hicks had a couple, Daughtry 3, Cook and Kris 1 each, and now Crystal whopping 8! All had a bunch of co-writes also. Of course, we don´t know how much they contributed to the co-writes, maybe a lot, maybe a little. But Lee is one of them

  • glamertitis

    and now Crystal whopping 8

Well, maybe. Her album isn’t released yet.
The problem with her originals is that they are all old fashioned and dated and may have already turned many buyers into going elsewhere…. so who wants to listen to stale material? These Idols have got to produce fresh new material or they are sunk…. That’s why I am so pleased Lee took the time during the tour and afterwards to write and record fresh material rather than rehashing his old stuff(which is still good, but new songs are better for a debut CD). Same with those other Idols you mentioned… they recorded fresh material as well

ETA plus I think any idol that has the chance to work with all those big writers for their first Cd and don’t, will regret it

  • lili_anne7

I just watched the vidoes, and Lee and the band sounded really good and I liked how he interacted with the crowd. To be honest, I did listen to Lee’s album…….. hmm it’s not bad, I’m just not too crazy about it. But most of the songs did sound better live. I agree with Elliegrll in that RCA has to find an audience for Lee though, and hopefully they’ll be patient with him.

Me too! Not only is it fresh, new material but now we have twice as much to listen to. My ipod is going to be full of Lee songs!

  • Imkhemari

Lee is very lucky, he not only has this RCA album, with the experience of co-writing with top songwriters, but his third solo album will be out next year via Wu-Li, his old indie label. He has the best of both worlds.

And fans of Lee’s pre-idol or post idol music will have plenty to be happy about. IMO of course.

  • glamertitis

I would love it if Never There is on the Wuli 3rd album! Thanks for that information Imkhemari. I hadn’t heard about the new material from the old label being released :)

  • Eriko

Well, maybe. Her album isn’t released yet.
The problem with her originals is t………snip

I don´t know why you feel you have to go all defensive. I´m glad you are pleased with how things are going for Lee. I hope he does well. Your opinion on other Idols is fine with me. But what does any of that have to do with what I said? Do you feel it´s wrong to correct a statement with facts? If you have a need to jump all over Crystal, shouldn´t you do that where her music is being discussed? Sigh

  • glamertitis

Like you Eriko, I was voicing my opinion… I believe you brought a bait over to the Lee thread… I chose not to respond to your bait with defensiveness, but with my opinion instead.

Bait??? I was not voicing an opinion, merely correcting a false statement. I re-read what I wrote carefully, looking for something that possibly could be understood as a bait, but could not find any such indicator. And there was nothing remotely negative towards Lee either in what I said. Just plain figures.

  • Landmd

Eriko noone was talking about Crystal here you brought her up not us!

  • glamertitis

The girl who was brought up on stage by Lee just wrote a great recap over at twitter – can we bring this over here? What a heartfelt story she shared. :)

Eriko….When Sally said Lee’s album might be first true songwriter’s album, I think she meant that even though Lee had ten cowrites on his album, his stamp was definitely there, because he was fully involved in every note and word that was written. Except for one song, which he really liked when it was presented to him, he got a lot of support for his vision of what his album would sound like. I wasn’t there, but I feel his album truly reflects who he is as an artist. I can’t say anything about other idol albums, cause I never listened. I think Crystal’s album will reflect who she is too and her fans are lucky she’s allowed that leeway, but Lee’s album will be out November 16th and Crystal’s will be out December 14th, so factually saying first fits. As a fan of Lee, I’m very pleased with his album, as you are with Crystal’s. We’re both lucky to get what we want.

  • Eriko

Eriko noone was talking about Crystal here you brought her up not us!

You mean by mentioning her along with Taylor, Kriss, Cook and Daughtry as having solo originals, I was talking about her? Do you really call that “talking” about Crystal? How else could I correct that Lee is not the first true singer/songwriter?

  • batgirl478

I was finally able to watch the videos. This makes me so excited for his solo tour and I hope he plays near me. I find it so interesting that a lot of the Idols are so much better live. There are so many acts that can be disappointing live but with the Idols, at least the ones I’ve seen in person and in videos like this, that’s never been the case.

Anyway I am digging these songs a lot. I love the piano opening of SS and I loved hearing Hallelujah with the full band. I love his growl when he sings that first “Hallelujah.” Thanks for all the videos and photos!

  • Eriko

aprilfoolish Maybe she did mean that. Maybe she is right, maybe not, who knows. I just felt it was a bold statement, so I quoted some figures that showed otherwise. You can read what that lead to….Anyway, good night everyone, over and out

  • jennyl

tigervixxxen. thanks for the link. I didn’t want to listen to the songs until I got the album but with all these fantastic links I caved. Haha! I can’t wait to get the album now. I just want to blast it on my stereo and car and sit there (I hope I don’t forget to drive) and be mesmerize by the beauty of this man Lee the singer/songwriter. :) I’m also proud to be his fan. He really is beautiful inside and out. My kind of idol.

  • tigervixxxen

What I like about David Cook, Daughtry, Kris Allen, Lee and Crystal (among others) is that they are songwriters and they write on the majority of their album. I have so much more respect for them as artists than someone like Susan Boyle who just releases CDs full of covers. Sally wasn’t saying Lee is the only songwriter, clearly everyone I mentioned are all songwriters and there is no measure of who has more right to claim that to their name based on the exact number of credits they have on their album. Sally’s post was in her opinion her evaluation of the album but there is no measure to prove someone is a songwriter or how much worth is in that, either you are or you are not. I also would prefer an album that is all new material instead of rerecordings. There is an artist I am extremely fond of (not an Idol) who put out an album of almost all older material and it was disappointing. But IMO YMMV and all that.

  • twinkle80

tigervixxxen, thanks so much for the link to the album stream! honestly couldn’t count how many times i’ve listened to it. i can say that for me, it’ll be one of those albums that i can listen to from start to finish (and there ain’t that many in my ipod). you can sense growth in the finished product and yet still feel the lee that you’ve come to love from discovering him in AI, to immersing in his pre-idol cds to the present post-idol offering. i had the same feeling that i had listening to his previous works, his voice and his passion just touches me and i thank him for sharing his talent with us :)

lol at the people accusing the fans of being defensive when they are the defensive ones. trying to jump on certain issues on another idol’s thread just to promote their own. i say support your idol and try to not put the others down, i’m sure they would all be very appreciative. i prefer that lee went this direction, releasing new music, it just adds to all the excitement. we get to see the progress, he gets to learn from all these talented musicians and we get to have more lee songs on our playlist.

  • karenc

If I listen to Lee’s, David Cooks, and Kris Allens preidol music that they wrote themselves, I could definately hear that they all have their own style. I still hear this in their music even in the songs that there were cowriters.

  • heat914

What a great concert! It must have been so much fun for the fans and for Lee :)

One thing I am really happy about is that we get 11 NEW songs sung by Lee and not refurbished songs that we fans have heard a million times (in my case) from his pre-Idol music. I love his pre-Idol stuff but now I have something new to listen to! Can’t wait :)

  • rivermaya

I am hoping that iheartradio or 19 will release a copy of this concert in DVD because I will buy it in a heartbeat.
Lee is just so in his element when he sings live.
And not to mention Hallelujah & the jam session with his band as the bonus tracks.

  • kvwicks13

The above videos were awesome! Three more days til the album comes out!

  • poster

Lee is just so in his element when he sings live.

    This. :)

I was lukewarm about Lee after the Idol season was done, but became a solid fan after I saw him on the Idol Tour. And since then all the videos I’ve seen of him performing live have turned me into a BIG fan! He’s just great live! If he tours around here, I’ll definitely go.

  • jennyl

You guys are so lucky to see lee live :). I’ve been waiting forever for the two Davids to come to my country and now Lee.
