Well, maybe. Her album isn’t released yet.
The problem with her originals is t………snip

I don´t know why you feel you have to go all defensive. I´m glad you are pleased with how things are going for Lee. I hope he does well. Your opinion on other Idols is fine with me. But what does any of that have to do with what I said? Do you feel it´s wrong to correct a statement with facts? If you have a need to jump all over Crystal, shouldn´t you do that where her music is being discussed? Sigh

Like you Eriko, I was voicing my opinion… I believe you brought a bait over to the Lee thread… I chose not to respond to your bait with defensiveness, but with my opinion instead.

Bait??? I was not voicing an opinion, merely correcting a false statement. I re-read what I wrote carefully, looking for something that possibly could be understood as a bait, but could not find any such indicator. And there was nothing remotely negative towards Lee either in what I said. Just plain figures.

Eriko noone was talking about Crystal here you brought her up not us!

The girl who was brought up on stage by Lee just wrote a great recap over at twitter – can we bring this over here? What a heartfelt story she shared. :)

Eriko….When Sally said Lee’s album might be first true songwriter’s album, I think she meant that even though Lee had ten cowrites on his album, his stamp was definitely there, because he was fully involved in every note and word that was written. Except for one song, which he really liked when it was presented to him, he got a lot of support for his vision of what his album would sound like. I wasn’t there, but I feel his album truly reflects who he is as an artist. I can’t say anything about other idol albums, cause I never listened. I think Crystal’s album will reflect who she is too and her fans are lucky she’s allowed that leeway, but Lee’s album will be out November 16th and Crystal’s will be out December 14th, so factually saying first fits. As a fan of Lee, I’m very pleased with his album, as you are with Crystal’s. We’re both lucky to get what we want.

You mean by mentioning her along with Taylor, Kriss, Cook and Daughtry as having solo originals, I was talking about her? Do you really call that “talking” about Crystal? How else could I correct that Lee is not the first true singer/songwriter?

I was finally able to watch the videos. This makes me so excited for his solo tour and I hope he plays near me. I find it so interesting that a lot of the Idols are so much better live. There are so many acts that can be disappointing live but with the Idols, at least the ones I’ve seen in person and in videos like this, that’s never been the case.

Anyway I am digging these songs a lot. I love the piano opening of SS and I loved hearing Hallelujah with the full band. I love his growl when he sings that first “Hallelujah.” Thanks for all the videos and photos!

  • Eriko

aprilfoolish Maybe she did mean that. Maybe she is right, maybe not, who knows. I just felt it was a bold statement, so I quoted some figures that showed otherwise. You can read what that lead to….Anyway, good night everyone, over and out

tigervixxxen. thanks for the link. I didn’t want to listen to the songs until I got the album but with all these fantastic links I caved. Haha! I can’t wait to get the album now. I just want to blast it on my stereo and car and sit there (I hope I don’t forget to drive) and be mesmerize by the beauty of this man Lee the singer/songwriter. :) I’m also proud to be his fan. He really is beautiful inside and out. My kind of idol.

What I like about David Cook, Daughtry, Kris Allen, Lee and Crystal (among others) is that they are songwriters and they write on the majority of their album. I have so much more respect for them as artists than someone like Susan Boyle who just releases CDs full of covers. Sally wasn’t saying Lee is the only songwriter, clearly everyone I mentioned are all songwriters and there is no measure of who has more right to claim that to their name based on the exact number of credits they have on their album. Sally’s post was in her opinion her evaluation of the album but there is no measure to prove someone is a songwriter or how much worth is in that, either you are or you are not. I also would prefer an album that is all new material instead of rerecordings. There is an artist I am extremely fond of (not an Idol) who put out an album of almost all older material and it was disappointing. But IMO YMMV and all that.

tigervixxxen, thanks so much for the link to the album stream! honestly couldn’t count how many times i’ve listened to it. i can say that for me, it’ll be one of those albums that i can listen to from start to finish (and there ain’t that many in my ipod). you can sense growth in the finished product and yet still feel the lee that you’ve come to love from discovering him in AI, to immersing in his pre-idol cds to the present post-idol offering. i had the same feeling that i had listening to his previous works, his voice and his passion just touches me and i thank him for sharing his talent with us :)

lol at the people accusing the fans of being defensive when they are the defensive ones. trying to jump on certain issues on another idol’s thread just to promote their own. i say support your idol and try to not put the others down, i’m sure they would all be very appreciative. i prefer that lee went this direction, releasing new music, it just adds to all the excitement. we get to see the progress, he gets to learn from all these talented musicians and we get to have more lee songs on our playlist.

  • karenc

If I listen to Lee’s, David Cooks, and Kris Allens preidol music that they wrote themselves, I could definately hear that they all have their own style. I still hear this in their music even in the songs that there were cowriters.

  • heat914

What a great concert! It must have been so much fun for the fans and for Lee :)

One thing I am really happy about is that we get 11 NEW songs sung by Lee and not refurbished songs that we fans have heard a million times (in my case) from his pre-Idol music. I love his pre-Idol stuff but now I have something new to listen to! Can’t wait :)

  • rivermaya

I am hoping that iheartradio or 19 will release a copy of this concert in DVD because I will buy it in a heartbeat.
Lee is just so in his element when he sings live.
And not to mention Hallelujah & the jam session with his band as the bonus tracks.

  • kvwicks13

The above videos were awesome! Three more days til the album comes out!

    This. :)

I was lukewarm about Lee after the Idol season was done, but became a solid fan after I saw him on the Idol Tour. And since then all the videos I’ve seen of him performing live have turned me into a BIG fan! He’s just great live! If he tours around here, I’ll definitely go.

  • jennyl

You guys are so lucky to see lee live :). I’ve been waiting forever for the two Davids to come to my country and now Lee.
