At tonight’s holiday StageIt show, Kris Allen dedicated his final song to all those affected by the tragedy in Newtown Connecticut. The new song, was written before last week’s horrible events, but the lyrics make for a beautiful and heartbreaking tribute.

If you check it out, make sure to have tissues handy. Bravo, Kris.

This is gorgeous. It may not have been written especially for Newtown but it sure seems like it was.

  • nyc57

It really is a heartbreaking song.As the mother of 2 sons,I just can’t imagine the pain these parents must be going through.

  • tierbee

Thanks for the tissues warning because I needed them. Beautiful.

  • ceecee21

I liked the song, but what is Stageit?  This doesn’t look like a real concert, it looks like he did it from his livingroom.

  • Ratna12

Such a beautiful song, I hope I can buy it one day.
I need to see all the lyrics because sometimes I can’t hear Kris’ mumbling.
Thank you Kris, great show tonight.

    have a look at this webpage…  http://www.stageit.com/site/what_is_stageit

it’s a website where you have a concert from any location you want online. You sell tickets for as much as you want and people watch it from their PCs :)

That was so beautiful and while it wasn’t written with this tragedy in mind, it is more than fitting and relates to what those children, parents, teachers, and townspeople are going through.

The line that gets me is ‘and if you’re hiding, don’t make a sound.’ That is exactly what those children were doing.

This is a heartbreakingly beautiful song. Even though it wasn’t written specifically about the Newtown tragedy, it still makes a touching tribute to the families affected by the shootings.

I was going to post my video of this but you can hear sobbing during the whole song and even after.  Kris is such an amazing person with a heart of gold and golden voice.

Such a gorgeous song and more than fitting tribute. This was an amazing moment last night.

Just watched the show and heard the beautiful song. It’s unbelievable and kinda eerie since the lyrics are so apt to the tragedy. It’s as if he wrote it right after the event. Bravo, Kris! I hope the media people will see this and report this.

First let me say how grateful I am for the videographers and for MJ for posting this as my Netgear WNR2000 (I HATE IT) router went down just before the end of the show and by the time it got back up the show was over.   Second…this song had me bawling like a baby.  Not only is it beautiful, but the sentiment is lovely for anyone who has ever lost anyone they loved.  It is especially touching in light of what happened in Connecticut.     Thank you Kris.   I hope that he decides to put this on itunes with proceeds going to those in SandyHook who have lost someone.   The song deserves to be listened to.

The song is very touching and very beautiful.

It is a concert from his living room.  Many musicians are now using it as a means to allow people who can’t afford a concert or those who don’t live in large towns or countries where concerts are prevalent to showcase their music.  Additionally, much, if not all, monies go to charitable causes.  It’s been around for a while.  Check out the site and you will see who is doing this.   Kris may (I can’t swear to this, however) have been the first Idol alumni to do this but many others followed with proceeds going to charity.

  • Rendida

Maybe some musicians are using StageIt shows for charitable endeavours, and Kris has done that in the past, but there was no indication that any proceeds from Kris’s StageIt show last night was for charity.

  • MissMyEm

I didn’t indicate that he did use it for charity but he has in the past.  I also said musicians use it for other things too.  My answer was not about Kris. It was about an answer to the person who said she didn’t know what stage it was. I was just explaining it to her.

The show last night was a gift to his fans around the world. It was ‘pay what you want’. You needed to have 50 Stageit notes in your account to gain admittance, but you didn’t HAVE to use them.

It was a nice thing for him to do and we all enjoyed it. Kris does so much for charity, I really hope this time he got our $$.

  • mtlfan2

    beautiful and touching song

  • Rendida

When you said “much, if not all monies go to charitable causes” I assumed you were speaking about everyone, including Kris. Thanks for clearing that up.

  • HopeForMusic

This Canadian fan was overjoyed by the chance to see Kris live via StageIt!  It was a wonderful experience, and I’m very hopeful that Kris will do it again.  As for the song, even now I can’t express my feelings properly so I won’t even try.  For such a young man, Kris has an inate ability to empathize and express his feelings through his beautifully crafted music.  It’s a beautiful song, written by someone who has a beautiful heart and soul.

  • madeformusic

The show was a gift indeed. As I live so far away, it is impossible for me to see any Kris’ real shows. These kind online shows allow me to enjoy his music live and be present – if only online.

These shows also give me an opportunity to pay something for Kris as his music makes my life a little bit better (as do all the music I listen to). I’m not that kind of fan that I’d buy extra copies of his album or something like that. I still watch YT videos from his shows and it’s only fair that sometimes I pay for his live music as well.

And the most important thing today – the new song is really beautiful and I hope that there will be a studio version some day (rather sooner than later).

In case you missed it in the headlines thread, this YouTube playlist has the best quality video of the entire StageIt show: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLnRiJzsDDWIVZeDTzWkRZ8_lcuZ4ZtDO7

I wonder if he’ll do this song at his Jan. 10th show in Ridgefield, CT. It’s 20 miles from Newtown.

  • parsenip

I really love this StageIt vehicle.  Anything that allows artists to bypass the industry gatekeepers and go directly to the fans is a huge positive in my book.  Well done all around.

  • linsmile

This song is heartbreaking and beautiful - it infuses loss with honor and beauty.

  • girlygirltoo

StageIt also allows the artist to talk directly to the fans, via the chat function. Kris did a Q&A during the encore part of his show last night. Unless you buy a M&G ticket, or hang around long after a gig ends in hopes that an artist will come out to mingle with the fans aftr a gig, that’s something you don’t always get at shows in actual venues.

Love the song and love the longer hair on Kris!

  • nyc57

I imagine he will do that song in Ct I am curious about what inspired Kris to write the song to begin with. It’s so different from his other music

Kris has done 2 stageit shows for charity and I’m glad this wasn’t one.His fans really wanted a Christmas show and it took a lot of preparation.Because I live in NY,I see Kris a lot but a lot of fans don’t.

  • Ratna12

Absolutely, that was my thought exactly.
Kris said that he writes songs based or loosely based on his experiences with friends / family, so what happened…and who was Amy ? (if I heard it correctly)

Agreed also with the second thought, I want to see Kris make some money from these shows because he makes me happy. :)

  • durbesque

What does Sandy Hook need with a few dollars from StageIt?  I hope Kris keeps it.  These StageIt artists are not Carrie who can afford to give away thousand$.

  • Valarie

I have listened to this song twice and cried my eyes out both times. I love it when a song covers emotion. This song and this singer do that to the max.

  • http://twitter.com/shoriagirl Shoria

Love the song and hope that Kris will record it and make it available to buy, whether on his new album or by itself.  Kris has so many songs written, I wish he recorded and released them all!

  • mzhallcat

This is a beautiful song and, in my opinion, Kris’s touching performance conveys the heartache that an entire nation/world feels for these families. Praying for the victim’s families, first responders, and survivors as they struggle through this holiday season.

As others have said, I would like to hear the story that inspired the lyrics to this song.

heartbreakingly beautiful! i think i sobbed like a baby, I can’t say how much I love Kris, I think he is really an incredible artist & a World Class Person, wish him all the success in the World, that boy can really make a difference.

  • Jordana33

I am just catching up and couldn”t agree more with all of  the comments.  Kris is just that special of a person.   I too would love to know what inspired him to write this moving song.
