Idols In Concert – Stats – 04/28/16

Little Mix headlines at the O2 to over 30K attendees across two nights. Carrie Underwood continues her mostly sold-out tour through Arizona, Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico and California. The Voice’s The Swon Brothers are one of her opening acts. Lauren Alaina opened for Alan Jackson in Anaheim while Lauren Alaina opened for Brantley Gilbert in Tennessee and Virginia.

Canadian Idols Jacob Hoggard (lead singer of Hedley) and Carly Rae Jepsen teamed up for a concert in London (Ontario) where they earned almost 230K. Adam Lambert was in Nashville at the famous Ryman Auditorium with Glee’s Alex Newell as his opener. They sold-out as did Tori Kelly in Tampa.

File this under “It’s hard to stay afloat even when you have a licence to print money”…American Idol’s parent company Core Media just filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. Sure, they haven’t been rolling in cash like they did back in their hey-day, but back then, they couldn’t count the money fast enough. And they knew Idol was ending for the past year, what have they done. When companies like Core Media and Lehman Brothers go down, one seriously has to question the high wages CEOs get paid – or at least the ones that run those companies.

I almost wonder if the show was cancelled so Core Media could escape its debt.

HDD reports that some industry pundits are predicting that Drake will open with 2M next week. There are 20 tracks on that album – can he beat fellow Ontarian Bieber’s record of most songs on the Hot 100 at once?
