Taylor Swift a headliner come April 23
Taylor Swift, last year’s best-selling recording artist, will kick off her first major headlining tour April 23 in Evansville, Ind. (No ticket sales date released yet.)
“I’ve been working really hard to make this show as multidimensional as possible,” says Swift, 19, who will include multiple costume changes and a fairy-tale castle in her three-act set. Kellie Pickler will open all dates of the 50-city Taylor Swift Fearless Tour.
Bucky’s CD is Top-Selling Country Release
With album sales totaling 400,000 units, according to Nielsen Soundscan sales reporting, Bucky Covington’s self-titled first CD is the best-selling country debut release of the 2007 class. The singer’s debut album, Bucky Covington, delivered three consecutive top 10 hits at country radio – “A Different World,” “It’s Good To Be Us” and “I’ll Walk”. He’s also the best selling debut artist of the 2007 class, and is one of only three male country artists since 2005 to have three consecutive top 10 singles from his debut album.
Bucky is currently in the studio with producers Mark Miller and Dale Oliver recording new music for his sophomore CD. The first single from the new project is expected to release in the coming weeks. Fans can also see Bucky make his big screen debut on April 10 in Hannah Montana The Movie.

Phil Stacey Blog: Last stops on the audition road
As we enter the last night of auditions, I feel like I have a pretty good idea of a few faces we will see for weeks to come. That being said, remember that there is always an underdog story. The early front-runner NEVER wins. After my audition for Season 6, nobody could have predicted that I would be in the Top 6. Most critics were surprised to see me in the Top 24! But I showed the judges something during Hollywood week that I was unable to while under the pressure of auditions.

‘American Idol’ recap: Livin’ la Vida Broke-down
True confessions time: I turn into a little bit of a crazy person whenever I’m in the passenger seat of a car. I liberally press the imaginary brake. Heading into sharp curves, I shout nonsense like ”beware the yellow arrows of danger!” And don’t even get me started on what happens when the gas gauge starts creeping into the danger zone.
Talking Idol with Scott Collins
Today we are joined by the LA Times’ Channel Island columnist Scott Collins
Four judges is one too many for à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‹Idolà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢
Of all the changes announced for the eighth season of “American Idol,” perhaps none was more hotly debated ahead of time than the addition of songwriter Kara DioGuardi as a fourth judge.
With three weeks of auditions now in the can, we’ve finally had the opportunity to view the wisdom or folly of that decision. And if the first nine hours of the new season are any indication, four judges is too damn many
David Osmond Brings Family’s Musical Legacy To ‘American Idol’
This year’s “American Idol” has already seen the passing of the torch from Jason to Michael Castro, the first legacy to make it to Hollywood. But during the Utah auditions that aired on Wednesday night, the program got what might be its first bona fide à ¼ber-ringer, David Osmond.
The Provo, Utah, native is the son of Alan Osmond, the eldest brother of the squeaky-clean Osmond singers, best known for their tight harmonies, wholesome family values and the “Donny & Marie” variety show of the 1970s.

On last nightà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s Mormon-fueled à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“American Idolà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ auditions in Salt Lake City, we got an Osmond, a tone-deaf Goth girl, a whole bunch of toothsome white people, one heartwarming hippie trainwreck and, without a doubt, my favorite contestant of the season: Megan Corkrey, a gorgeous, newly single mom with a mean sleeve of tattoos and a voice that à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ to borrow a phrase from former New York Times music critic Kalefa Sanneh à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ sounds like à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“carved steam.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬
Nickelodeon Crushes on Teen ‘Idol’ David Archuleta in Pre-Valentine’s Primetime Programming Event, ‘Crush Night,’ February 7
Nickelodeon’s pre-Valentine’s “Crush Night” is music to kids’ ears when teen “Idol” David Archuleta takes on his newest challenge: The crush-worthy singing sensation makes his acting debut on the mega-hit iCarly, and helps kick off all-new episodes of back-to-back romance-themed primetime premieres, Saturday, February 7 (8-9:30 p.m. ET/PT). Archuleta, whose hit single “Crush” is topping the Billboard charts, teams up with iCarly headliner Miranda Cosgrove to celebrate teen romance as they host the night from the set of iCarly. Archuleta performs his current hit “Crush” (February 7) and his new single, “A Little Too Not Over You” — debuting the new tune on TV within Nick’s Crush Night encore, Sunday, February 15 — in front of adoring fans, and the duo also unveils premieres of iCarly, True Jackson, VP and The Naked Brothers Band.
Idol Worship: Catching Up With David Archuleta
David Archuleta within driving distance? We’re there! Since Archie was back in Hollywood last weekend to shoot a performance for the Nickeleodeon hit show iCarly, we decided to pop by the set and catch up with last season’s American Idol runner-up. We arrived to to find David and iCarly star Miranda Cosgrove knee-deep in taping promos for his guest-starring role (airing Feb. 7), which can only be described as moments of acute awkwardness. But he got the hang of it soon enough, and even hinted later that there could be more acting gigs in his future. After performing two songs for the network’s “Crush Night” (his first hit, “Crush,” and second single, “A Little Too Not Over You”), David sat down to talk to us about this new phase in his life, and what may come next (a duet with Miranda?!). Read on for our exclusive (and classic Archie) Q&A…
Obsessed Abdul Fan’s Autopsy
JANUARY 29–The California woman who committed suicide last year while parked in front of Paula Abdul’s Sherman Oaks home had the walls of her residence covered with pictures of the “American Idol” judge, had Abdul’s name tattooed inside her mouth, and was found dead amidst “multiple pictures” of the performer, according to a Los Angeles coroner’s report. Paula Goodspeed, 30, died last November after overdosing on Prozac and two other drugs, including one prescribed to treat schizophrenia. Excerpts of the coroner’s report, which was released yesterday, can be found below.
Kelly Clarkson: Her new video does NOT suck! (Nor do the five other tracks that we’ve heard!)
If you happen to wander past my office at any point during the day, odds are you’ll hear Kelly Clarkson’s infectious new single, “My Life Would Suck Without You,” playing. (Or “Elevator” from the new Pussycat Dolls album. Judge away, PopWatchers. I certainly would.) But Clarkson fans like me can rejoice because the former American Idol just released the new video for her hit single (which has broken records by leaping to No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart). Basically, a less angry “Since U Been Gone,” the video has Kelly playfully arguing with a very hot fella. Who are you, sir? Maybe we should do introductions over drinks?
But there’s even more fun to come: I heard five tracks from Clarkson’s album, All I Ever Wanted, and it’s thankfully more Breakaway than My December. The second single, “I Do Not Hook Up,” penned by Katy Perry, is a sassy delight and refreshingly prude with its non-promiscuous message. It just made me all the more anxious for the album’s March 10 release date.
Doolittle Calls New ‘Idol’ Judge ‘Feisty,’ Offers Advice for Contestants
With a new album out on Feb. 3, Melinda Doolittle has evolved from backup singer to ‘American Idol’ favorite and finally a recording artist.
The third place finisher on the sixth season of ‘Idol’ — coming in behind eventual winner Jordin Sparks and runner-up Blake Lewis — sat down to talk with PopEater about releasing ‘Coming Back to You,’ her favorite cause and of course, the show that launched her career.
Doolittle relates her feelings about her record ‘Coming Back to You.’

The sheet is also signed by its songwriters, Josh Kear and Chris Tompkins.
Jesus Took My Wheel
I was born to multi-task. So I thought nothing of turning a working trip to Nashville into a rescue-my-new-dog trip as well. As long as I was going home anyway, I thought I might as well take the dog with me. But since it was too cold too fly [with a dog], I rented a car and thought Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d just drive north out of Nashville on Wednesday morning (Jan. 28). But Mother Nature, that bitch, had other plans.
Jennifer Hudson Arrives in Tampa
Sheà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s been reclusive since the tragic murders of her mother, brother, and newphew back in October, but yesterday Jennifer Hudson was spotted arriving in Tampa, Florida for the Super Bowl weekend.
The à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“American Idolà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ alum looked a bit somber in an all-black ensemble as she made her way through the terminal, carrying a cute pup as her travel companion.
Hill: Game “perfect choice” for Hudson
Faith Hill praised Jennifer Hudson for choosing the Super Bowl as her first performance since the slayings of her mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew.
Hudson will sing the national anthem before Sunday’s game between the Arizona Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers. It will be her first public appearance since the October slayings.
“She is a strong girl, a girl of faith,” Hill said Thursday. “I believe to come and perform the national anthem, which is this country’s favorite song, at a time that our country is stepping up and moving forward for future generations à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ I think it’s just the perfect choice.”
Tickets are discounted for Syeshaà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s gig
Manatee public school students can buy discount-priced tickets Saturday to singer Syesha Mercadoà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s concert next month, the school district announced Thursday.
The tickets for Manatee County school district students only are priced at $12 plus service charge each and will be on sale this Saturday only from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Manatee Convention Center box office, One Haben Blvd.
Mercado, an à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“American Idolà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ phenomenon last year, is performing at 7 p.m. Feb. 19, at the center to raise money for the school districtà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s gang prevention and character development programs, one of which is Amer-I-Can.
Justin Guarini living in ‘Gone Country 3’s’ Nashville mansion
Curly-haired “American Idol” debut season runner-up Justin Guarini is among the residents of a Nashville mansion as part of the CMT TV show “Gone Country 3,” which premiered last Saturday and will air Saturdays at 8 p.m. The show is hosted by country star John Rich; other cast members include funk musician George Clinton and model-actor Richard Greico.
