Check out a behind-the-scenes clip of Carrie Underwood’s “Two Black Cadillacs” music video. Carrie talks about getting Stephen King’s blessing to film a homage to his work, Christine.

I like the video but the idea that you don’t know who ran him over is kind of silly.  you can clearly see a woman (presumably Carrie since she’s got the keys at the funeral) behind the wheel of the car when he’s run down, she then exits the driver’s side and comes around front to look at him lying on the ground (while the other walks up on the side).

It is a cool concept and even cooler that she got King’s permission to borrow the Christine theme.

My understanding of the video: wife and the other woman found out about each other and decided to kill the guy. Carrie is “the other woman”. She meets the guy in the alley and walks away when his wife turns on the car lights. After his wife kills him, Carrie returns and takes the car from the scene. It would be too suspicious for the wife to take it to the mechanic.

Carrie then drives the repaired car to the man’s funeral and puts the car keys on his casket. Wife takes the keys and then they leave together, in the same car. Women both sit in the back seat and there is no driver. That’s basically the only thing that’s weird about the video. It’s clearly from that “Christine” book, but I don’t think it fits the storyline of this video. It’s pretty clear that it’s guy’s wife behind the wheel when he is run down.

Mateja Praznik: Women both sit in the back seat and there is no driver. That’s basically the only thing that’s weird about the video. In ‘Christine’ (book and movie), the car has become infused with the evil spirit of its original owner, who has passed away. When it gets a new owner, it goes after everybody it sees as a threat to its new owner (and in some cases a threat for its new owner’s attention).

The idea in the video is that the car has become infused with the vengeful spirit of the 2 women and becomes an accomplice in the murder of the cheater. Or, that the car has infused the 2 women with its own evil vengeful spirit and they are partners in crime. I think we’re meant to think the car does the actual killing (even if there’s a woman at the wheel, she may or may not have been controlling the car at the time). But even if the car did the actual killing it’s still obviously doing what the 2 women intended.

Then the 2 women are driven off after the funeral in the car, by the car, which means whatever evil spirit’s got a hold of them all, they’re still possessed or they’re not letting go of it yet.
