Brooke White stars in the latest Wal-Mart/P&G family night movie, set to air on FOX January 8, 2011.

In Change of Plans, Brooke plays Sally Danville, a “beautiful and free-spirited musician.”  Sally and her fighter-pilot husband, Jason, live free of domestic responsibilities until Sally is “met with the news that her best friend from college has died in a tragic accident on a Peace Corps mission and has named Sally the legal guardian of her four kids – 3 of them adopted from third-world countries.”

Phylicia Rashad from the Cosby Show plays the case worker who breaks the bad news to the carefree couple.  Of course, confusion ensues, lessons are learned and everyone lives happily ever after. It’s family movie night people!

You might remember Brooke blogging about the mysterious movie pilot she was shooting in Canada.  She didn’t spill much about the production, but did mention that she wrote 3 songs for the film, one with fellow Idol Michael Johns.

Randy Jackson is the producer of the soundtracks for the  Wal-Mart/P&G  Family Night movies.  The Idol judge, who executive produced Brooke’s album, High Hopes and Heartbreak, invited her to record songs for two previous Family Night movies, Secrets of the Mountain and The Jensen Project.  Michael wrote a song for the latest movie, A Walk In My Shoes, that premiered on NBC on Dec. 3.

I don’t know how Brooke made the leap from songwriter to actress, but I’m sure we’ll find out.

Wow. I think they almost hit every dramedy cliche with this one.

    Is that Joe Flanigan ?
I have to remember to watch this.

Brooke sure got lucky with her TV husband. Love Joe Flanigan.

I hope this is successful, and she gets to do more acting. I think she’s one of the most talented AI women of the last few years, and so cute and likable.

Love Brooke. Will support anything she works on. Or, I will support anything on which she works. :)

I’ve seen about a zillion variations of this storyline in other movies, but yay Brooke! Good for her. I see she still has amazing hair.

  • girlygirl

Can’t say that the movie sounds very promising, based on the description. But good for Brooke!

  • HotHotHot

Good for Brooke. Hope it does well!!

Love to see the idols venture out and do different things. Hope she’s well received/reviewed in this effort!

When Brooke blogged about her acting debut, I didn’t think she would be playing the lead. That’s a really BIG deal — as cliche as the story may be. But it’s network television and she’s the lead!! And yeah, uhm, Joe Flanagan :) What a way to make a debut!

This is such great news for Brooke! She on my list for top favorite Idol alumnis and my second favorite for Season 7. I hope she gets good reviews!

So Happy for Brooke and will definitely watch. Another great example that the exposure from this show helps the contestant to have a career in the entertainment industry. Brooke still has music going but has other opportunities being brought to her she would not otherwise have if not for AI. Success from this show is relative as I have always thought. Most of these contestants (top 10 ) will have much more lucrative careers then they had prior to being on the show. That is a success. Not all can be Carrie’s, Kelly, Daughtry’s, and Jennifer Hudson’s Or even Adam’s, Cooks, Clay’s Or Fantasia’s but I think most of them are having much happier lives then the had prior, and doing what they love or a least doing things I would love to be doing. :-) Let me be a Host of a show or have my own Radio show or be on Broadway. Like I said not all of them can be Carrie’s success but that is not just an Idol issue, out of all the millions who try to have a career in the music business only a fraction can be mega stars. The fact that most of these contestant get jobs that millions of others are dying to get but they do because of the exposure of AI they are all blessed and very fortunate. I don’t know if I am being clear but hopefully I am.

That is why I think Lee is doing fine and so are any of them who are able to sing at events or get gigs to perform in front of people. I am sure its a heck of a lot more then the had before. So to that extent again most are successful. :-) and I can’t wait to see Brooke I am sure she will be great. Especially as a mom figure. Always got that vibe about her.

  • OvenMitt

I really like Brooke, but I may just have to watch this for Phylicia Rashad. Always good when Phylicia Rashad pops up.

  • tinawina

I’m gonna watch, just because its Brooke! :)

  • fuzzywuzzy

Good for Brooke, especially having composed some songs for the movie. Cool! :)

  • GVal11

I’ve been following Brooke on Twitter since she started this project, good luck to her.

Although I’m mainly in it for the appearance of Joe Flanigan, one of my favorite actors ever!

Why didn’t he get a mention in your blog, he’s the co-star for heaven’s sake!!!!!

    Can’t wait for this movie!

  • iluvai

Sounds like my kind of t.v. movie. Well one of my kind. :) There’s some crazy stuff out there. hee hee.

But seriously Brooke is so true and talented. She’s a gem.

  • Maggie

As far as I know it’s not NBC that’s showing this movie but FOX TV. Great to see Joe Flanigan star along with Brooke.

I want to know what’s in the box the littlest girl is holding. You know it’s something important if it made the photo. Pink shoe boxes are not the general cliche symbol of Hey We Are Kids in a Movie posters.

Will that mystery compel me to watch? Sadly, it might. ;)

    I love Brooke. That’s a stronger draw.

Even though this kind of movie ala Hallmark is hundred percent not my cup of tea (too much shiny, idyllic world-stuff for me), I’ll definetly watch this movie because of Joe Flanigan who’s not only a very talented actor, but also a wonderful person…
About Brook White, the woman who acts along the famous Joe Flanigan, sorry but I can’t say anything about her as I never ever have heard of her before.
And from what I’ve seen of her in the various trailer so far I think I haven’t really missed much until now. She appears to me like an average singer who pretends to be also an actor, and thereby hopes to sell more of her bread-and-butter songs. She’s certainly not my cup of tea, so I’ll concentrate my entire attention on Mr. Flanigan and simply blend her out.
