Blind Item: American Idol Singer Performing at Trump Inauguration?

My own personal opinion? These Blind Gossip items are mostly fiction, made up for maximum clickbait potential. I’ve read different blind items, posted on the same site, regarding the same star, literally contradict the other! So I will post this particular blind item with a huge caveat. FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT ONLY. Take with a heaping tablespoon of salt.

This is an “exclusive” from Blind Gossip:

One of Donald Trump’s children wanted a specific female singer to perform as part of the Presidential Inauguration. The singer – who became famous on American Idol – has since been asked by the Inaugural Committee if she would be interested in performing.

If you are wondering why in the world they want this particular singer, it isn’t just because of her skill as a singer. It’s because she performs a specific song… and the song’s title resonates with how the Trump children feel about their father!

As of today, it looks like the singer WILL perform at an Inauguration event!

Hm. IF this item is true, I’d cross Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson right off the list. They are A list stars who don’t need the gig and the resultant PR blowback. Carrie has a history of being carefully apolitical, aside from opinions she’s voiced on animal and LGBT rights. Kelly, on the other hand, is outspoken, but very much anti-Trump.

Jennifer Hudson is literally BFFs with President Obama and has performed at numerous functions for him, including his inaugurations. Scratch her off the list.

So maybe? Kellie Pickler? Mandisa? Fantasia? Hm…. Or nobody from American Idol whatsoever.

ETA: Jordin Sparks is a possibility, but as a strong LGBT ally, I doubt it. But how could I forget Ayla Brown? She’s a Republican, and volunteered herself. It doesn’t quite fit the blind, which hints she was asked rather than the other way around. But, eh, it’s not like we’re talking about accurate reportinh here. If any Idol alum is performing, it would probably be the daughter of Trump surrogate, Scott Brown.

UPDATE: Ayla will perform the National Anthem for a non-official event, according to the Boston Herald. Hm…

On Thursday, the singer will perform the National Anthem at “Heroes Ball IV: A Rock and Roll Salute to the Armed Services,” a Washington, D.C., concert scheduled to coincide with Inauguration Week. Headlining “Heroes” is Poison frontman Brett Michaels, winner of the formerly Trump-hosted — and still Trump-produced — “Celebrity Apprentice” series.

The Heroes Ball is an independently produced event and not part of the president-elect’s official celebrations, but “close enough” to merit a bucket list check mark, Brown said. She’ll separately attend the inaugural ball Friday.
