There isn’t much on the next about Top 31 contestant, Casey Thrasher, but he  is featured in one of the American Idol promo, below, holding a sweet little baby.  “I have a precious reason right here” he says  about why he auditioned, as he feeds and cradles his precious one.

We do have one snippet online of the country singer performing. The Alabama native and his band won a local Battle of the Bands concert in Tuscaloosa. The prize was $800 and the opportunity to headline a Saturday night at the local bar that sponsored the contest.

You can read an account of the contest at Planet Weekly.  The reporter described how Casey won the crowd over:

The winning performance, however, had the crowd surging to the stage in an image starkly reminiscent of a George Strait concert. As fans stretched out their hands and raised their drinks, Casey Thrasher wooed the good-timing crowd with country covers that took the audience on a musical rollercoaster. Throughout the set, Casey Thrasher and company offered the ecstatic crowd up-tempo rhythms one song and slow dance softness on the next. Upon completion of their set, the boisterous round of applause was all it took to sew the victory up.

At one point, the band vacated the stage save for the singer and keyboardist and the result was a cover of Lonestar’s “Amazed”, which garnered the heaviest round of applause heard all evening.

He’s really I like Do you think he’ll win?

I was having some real cognitive dissonance for a few minutes. The write-up keeps saying “he” and the comment below says “he” and the video above seems to be a very pretty young lady. I eventually figured it out, but for a moment there….

Good luck to this Casey – Other people named Casey on Idol have done well.

Sounds like from the description of his Live show, this guy may just need a minute to learn how to adjust his delivery for the TV studio, learn how to play to the camera. Others before him with performance chops have made that adjustment successfully – hope he can do the same.

He’s still better off than any of the competition who don’t have much experience in either realm.

Once again – Country fans can comment on country singers – the specifics there are out of my purview.
