I debated about whether to post this video. I usually avoid old news, but this full video of Adam Lambert’s dress rehearsal performance of “For Your Entertainment” from the November 2009 American Music Awards–which just surfaced on You Tube today–was too interesting to pass up.
At the time, there was discussion about what happened in Adam’s live performance vs. the dress rehearsal. You’ll see here, that Adam left out the sexier moves that ABC complained about–most notably the move where he smushed a dancer’s face into his crotch, and the middle finger presented at the end of the number. It wasn’t cut out of the West coast feed, but Adam also kissed one of his band members, also not part of the dress rehearsal.
But Adam seems to be holding back overall in this dress performance, which is not unusual. Not only is Adam saving his sexier moves, but he’s also saving his voice. It’s not unusual for an artist to save the surprises for the actual performance.
For all the controversy the performance caused in November 2009–ABC banned him from their airwaves, basically– it was a speed bump that in the end, didn’t hurt Adam’s career at all. He moved on to releasing a couple of successful singles and a sold-out word tour.
Adam is currently working on his next album, due out this fall, with many collaborators, like Sia, Greg Wells and more.
