In this new FOX video, Simon Cowell predicts that a vocal group will at least make the Top 3 of X Factor this year and could possibly win the whole thing.
“My job running a record label is to spot the next trend in the market,” says Simon, “Absolutely %100, the next 12 months are all going to be about pop groups.”
“There’s going to be a massive, massive wave all over again, and that’s what I want to find on X Factor this year.”
Simon continued, “I want to find the next big girl band–Destiny’s Child, Spice Girls–I’d like to find the next ‘N Sync, the next Backstreet Boys. But whatever that is 10 years on.”
“If the next generation of New Kids on the Block walked into our record label now, they would get signed on the spot,” reveals Simon.”That’s how much we are looking for a group right now.”
Simon urges ya’ll to form a group and show up! Even if you aren’t completely rehearsed. One Direction could barely sing in unison when they competed on X Factor UK 2 years ago, and look where they are now! Simon’s UK imports have hit big on these shores with a hot single and #1 album. It’s no surprise he’s looking for an American version.
“First year was target practice,” says Simon, “This year’s the real deal.”
Simon will be mentoring the groups this year. That’s an easy bet.
