Interview: Chris Daughtry on twins, Aerosmith and new album, ‘Break The Spell’

Think making an album is hard? It’s nothing compared to trying to raise twins, just ask Daughtry’s Chris Daughtry who began cutting his band’s new album, “Break the Spell” when his twins were only a few months old.

“Between raising twins and recording a record, recording a record is a vacation,” he tells HitFix with a laugh.

Daughtry front man, former “American Idol” finalist Chris Daughtry released the band’s third album entitled “Break the Spell” on Monday and got ready with an American Music Award performance on Sunday night.

“We are so stoked,” Daughtry told OnTheRedCarpet.com at the American Music Awards on Sunday. “We couldn’t be happier. We’re amongst greatness here and to be lumped in that category and be performing with the same people that we’ve looked up to for years? I mean, we’re honored. We couldn’t be happier.”

‘X Factor’ Redux: Simon Cowell Says Lakoda Rayne Got Voted Off For Being ‘Too Pretty

X Factor’s Simon Cowell says girl group Lakoda Rayne, which he along with fellow judges L.A. Reid, Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger created when it paired bootcamp finalists Dani Knights, Cari Fletcher, Paige Elizabeth and Hayley Orrantia, was voted off the competition for being “too pretty.”

“It’s a problem I’ve had all my life,” he joked following Wednesday’s elimination show. But in all seriousness, he blamed the group members’ looks for their exit. “Girls didn’t like them,” Cowell said.

‘X Factor’: Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid sparring, Josh Krajcik’s outfit and Lakoda Rayne’s future

Nah Nah Drew Drew – After Drew got voted through and Lakoda Rayne got sent packing, Simon had a brief “I told you so” conversation with L.A. Reid. This comes after Reid chastised Cowell and Drew’s song choice. Cowell then Tweeted “L.A. Reid is not talking to me.”

What next? – Now that there’s nothing left of Paula’s team, she looks unsure as to what to do and who to root for. It appears that she’s going to partner up with Team Nicole.

‘X Factor’: Lakoda Rayne Member Gives Steve Jones the Silent Treatment, Calls Host’s Send-Off Comment ‘Offensive’

A couple hours after the teary exit, the trio seemed more mad than sad. “I took what Steve said a little bit personally, I found it offensive,” Paige told the Hollywood Reporter. “The dream is over? That was inappropriate. You don’t say stuff like that. That’s why I like ninja-gripped the microphone.”

Added Hayley: “I don’t really plan on talking to him.”

But their mentor Paula Abdul cautioned not to pounce on the poor chap. “I couldn’t believe he said that, but I’ve explained to these girls as I’ve worked with them that it’s a TV show and people don’t say the right things at times,” Abdul explained after the show. “Maybe it was scripted and someone who wrote it didn’t realize. It’s a hard job what he does and I think Steve realized a dream isn’t over.”
