Photos and Live Blog after the JUMP…

  • The Grammy’s begin! Aretha Franklin tribute is first. Aretha is not there, she’s still recovering from illness. Christina Aguilera, Florence Welch, Jennifer Hudson, Martina McBride, Yolanda Adams take the stage first to sing “Natural Woman” and more. Jennifer looks GORGEOUS.  Had no idea Florence Welch could sing like a DIVA.  Jennifer BLOWING on “Respect”
  • The 5 Divas come back on stage to present the Pop Duo or  Group Award to “Hey Soul Sister” by Train. BARF. Thanks Justin Beiber for not being a “duo or a group”
  • Ricky Martin introduces THE LADY GAGA who debuts her new single “Born This Way”.  That wasn’t quite as insane as I was expecting, considering she arrived at the Staples center in a freaking EGG.
  • Blake Shelton introduces his wife Miranda Lambert who sings “The House That Built Me”. Very pretty.
  • Lenny Kravitz takes the stage to introduce MUSE! They sing “Uprising” and have some really cool video stuff going on, with a city street building block by block above their heads. Cool.
  • Ryan Seacrest takes the stage to introduce Bruno Mars, B.o.B and Janelle Monae. They being with Bruno at the piano singing “Beautiful Girls” Retro Bruno does his best Little Anthony to sing a slow soulful “Grenade”.  The divine Janelle is next with “Cold War”. Take me to your planet, Janelle! Bruno is on drums. Janelle stage diving!
  • Dierks Bentley and Zack Brown take the stage to present Best Female Vocal Country performance (Carrie is nominated).  Miranda Lambert for “The House that Built Me”
  • Justin Beiber and Usher meet at the Grammys in 2007.  They meet again tonight on the Grammy stage!  Usher introduces the Biebs. It’s like a Mean Joe Green moment. Justin sings “Baby” with just an acoustic guitar. A drum corp takes the stage. Justin does some Tai Chi! He sings “Never Say Never” with the flames of pimpage behind him. Usher takes the stage to sing OMG. Robot dancing ensues.
  • Paramour and some chick from NCIS (CBS Promo!) present Best Rock Album to Muse for The Resistance.
  • Selena Gomez and Donnie Wahlberg present Best Pop Album to Lady Gaga for The Fame Monster.  The first part of Gaga’s speech is bleeped. Hm. She thanks….Whitney Houston. Because that’s who she imagined singing her songs? Whatevs.
  • Taped Top 10 Surprises at the Grammys from David Letterman!  Dave introduces Mumford & Sons, Avett Brothers and Bob Dylan.  GOOD STUFF.  Bob takes the stage. Everyone joins him in a rousing version of “Maggie’s Farm”.  Bob needs to clear his throat.
  • Lea Michele and Clay Matthews take the stage to introduce Lady Antebellum who will pay tribute to Teddy Pendegrass and sing a few of their own hits.  They wrap up with “I Need You Now” SO SICK OF THIS SONG. Vocally, the group sounded great. I just hate their songs. That is all.
  • Miley Cyrus and The Kings Of Leon present Best Country Album to Lady Antebellum for Need You Now
  • After Jaime Foxx makes coy jokes about “foooget”,   Cee Lo and Gwyneth Paltow join forces to sing “Forget You”.  Cee Lo is at the piano doing some nutty tribute to Elton John with glasses and a bird costume. The muppets are singing background. Gwyneth is….just there and completely  superfluous in this performance. Wish Cee Lo could sing FUCK YOU.  The muppets singing FUCK YOU would be even funnier.
  • Neil Patrick Harris takes the stage to introduce Katy Perry.  Katy is sitting on a swing, as she rises, it looks like she’s wearing the curtain.  Perhaps an ode to Carol Burnett and “Gone With the Wind”.  Katy shows us her wedding videos then sings “Teenage Dream”. I want Darren Criss!
  • Norah Jones, John Mayer and Keith Urban perform “Jolene” in tribute to Dolly Parton.  Oh. they’re singing in harmony.   ME LIKES.
  • Song of the Year goes to the songwriters of Lady Antebellum’s  “Need You Now”. BLECH.
  • Seth Rogan takes the stage to introduce Eminem, Dr. Dre and Rihanna to sing “Just Stand There and Watch Me Burn”  Rihanna dressed in a full, feminine ball gown  black and peach.   Eminem is bleeped  a lot. Rihanna sings… “I need a Dr. a Dr….” and out comes Dr. Dre. lulz.
  • Jewel and John Legend presents the Best New Artist Grammy to Esperanza Spaulding.  Hm.  A little obscure. I bet she wasn’t expecting to win.
  • Matthew Morrison introduces Academy president, Neil Portnow, who talks about work the Grammy Foundation is doing.
  • I SEE DEAD PEOPLE. It’s memorial montage time.  Aw. Alex Chilton & Doug Fieger make me especially sad.
  • Mick Jagger is next with a tribute to Solomon Burke. Still pretty spry, that ole Mick is.
  • Kris Kristofferson introduces Musicares Person of the Year, Barbra Streisand as one of the brightest stars to ever be born in this universe.  Barbra sings “Evergreen”. She looks very confused as the lights go down.
  • Nikki Minaj (looking CRAZY) and will.i.am present Best Rap Album to Eminem for Recovery.
  • P. Diddy introduces Rihanna and Drake. Why does Ri Ri get to sing twice?
  • Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony present Record of the Year to Lady Antebellum for “Need You Now”  UGGGHHH. Jlo and Marc think they’re Sony and Cher. Only not.  BOO. Worst song in the bunch.
  • Jason Segal introduces ARCADE FIRE!  They rip through “Month of May” Soooo good.
  • Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson take the stage to present Album of the Year to Arcade Fire for The Suburbs.  Barbra  seemed completely confuzzled by the younguns. lulz.  Wasn’t expecting The Suburbs to win. Hooray!
