Tonight, the 4 judges will cheer on the final 3 contestants. Mel B is too ill to appear on the show tonight, so Tulisa was called in to sit in her chair. I’m not sure what’s the point, considering they could ask Cheryl and Louis to support Andrea Faustini tonight. Poor guy will likely get voted off tonight anyway.

Fleur East and Ben Haenow didn’t appear in the bottom 2 all season, so I fully expect one of them to win tomorrow night.

The Sun published the results of their X Factor poll. I don’t have the access to the article, but according to a poster on Digital Spy forum, they surveyed around 2100 people and the results are:
Who do you think will win the X Factor?
Fleur: 38%
Ben: 24%
Andrea: 15%
Don’t know: 23%

The Daily Star meanwhile went even further and published the results of last week’s voting. They claim housewifes’ choice Ben Haenow got 50% of the vote and Fleur East 22%. Meanwhile Andrea Faustini received 16% and Lauren Platt 12%. Please note that The Daily Star publishes voting leaks every year and they are always accurate. The X Factor releases the results of the televote every year after the final, so the accuracy of these leaks can always be checked. That said, I’m suspicious about the timing of this leak.

I’m mentally preparing myself for all the bull**** the judges will be throwing around. I expect we will again hear about ready made popstars, global superstars and so on. Listening to the judges’ comments in the final is excruciating every season.

Welcome to X Factor final 2014!

We start with a creepy video … the buses, the 3 finalists, videos of the fallen acts to the music of Lorde‘s cover of “Everybody Wants to Rule the World”. The contestants are preparing for the final battle!

We are now live from Wembley Arena. Dermot O’Leary flies in from the sky.

Dermot introduces the judges: Louis Walsh, Tulisa, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Simon Cowell.

The final 3 are joining us next: they walk on stage from the audience. Dermot confirms somebody will be leaving the competition tonight. 1. Ben 2. Andrea 3. Fleur

The video takes us back the the beginning, when the three finalists first auditioned for the judges. And then we are back to last Sunday’s announcement.

Next, Take That and the Final 3 sing “Rule The World”.

Commercial break.

Round 1: Brand New Song For The Final

Ben Haenow – Demons (originally by Imagine Dragons)

Ben takes his bus to his hometown. First stop: supermarket where his mother works. They continue the trip on a bus. Be sings in a small place and in the evening, he has a bigger gig. Simon is there. Huge crowd. He sings “Come Together”.
Ben starts the performance in a glass cube. He smashes it with his leg soon after the start of the performance. Next, he moves to the main stage, where he gets lifted in DNA-themed lift.
Louis: Ben, the van driver from Croydon, … You deserve to be on stage. Everybody vote for Ben!
Tulisa: What an amazing opening to the show. People like you, it’s what this competition is about …
Cheryl: I’ve been a massive fan of yours since the start. That was a great song choice. You performed that like a professional, I wish you the best luck …
Simon: I remember that first audition when you came in. I’ve seen you grow, but you stayed a normal, family guy. This is why this show was created. You deserve to be there tomorrow.

Sarah-Jane is outside with Ben’s supporters. Sausages and the pub.

Andrea Faustini – Feeling Good (originally by Nina Simone)

Tulisa intrudes Andrea Faustini. Andrea’s campaign was London based, since he couldn’t go home to Italy. He meets his family in a restaurant. Everyone talks in Italian. Once he emerges from the restaurant, a crowd is waiting for him. His supporters join him on a bus. At the event, he gets to hold some pugs. His gig: Mel B takes him to a charity concert at Royal Albert Hall. Sophisticated event, but way different from what the other two got.
His performance is roulette themed. He also gets a troupe of dancers. Welp, all those long legs in the air aren’t exactly family friendly.
Louis: Andrea, you are in the final. We loved you from the start. Royal Albert Hall and Wembley Arena … X Factor makes dreams come true. You will have a career and sell records!
Cheryl: You came into that little room with your pug jumper and Mel didn’t take you seriously. You have no idea how much she loves you.
Simon: I saved you last week, so I have to take credit. I think it was a fantastic choice of song. You’ve done brilliant tonight.
Tulisa: Your voice is so amazing. I want people just to listen to it to remember how good you are. You are one of the most brilliant singers I’ve ever heard.

Sarah-Jane has Andrea’s supporters outside.

Fleur East – Can’t Hold Us (originally by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis)

Fleur heads back to East London. She visited MTV and Heart radio. Simon joined her for her big gig in the local hall.
Fleur is driven on stage on a motorbike. She starts the performance with a rap and then she sings the chorus. Great production. Great performance, even though the song wasn’t exactly demo delighting.
Louis: You worked for the last 10 years to get this far, Simon, you found your international star.
Tulisa: I was so excited about seeing you perform tonight. You sing, you dance, you are beautiful, you go girl, you got this.
Cheryl: I remember your audition. You came into this competition and fought and fought …
Simon: 10 years and probably more it took you to get this far….

Sarah-Jane is outside with Fleur’s supporters. Her grandfather traveled to the UK all the way from Ghana.

Next: Meghan Trainor, singing “All About That Bass”. At the end of the performance, the 3 finalists appear on stage next to her. Just because they can.

Round 2: The Duets

Ben Haenow & Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud
Ben performed this on the show a few weeks ago. Before the duet, we get s sappy video of Ben and Simon talking.
Ben definitely got the biggest star – Ed’s sophomore album just went 4x Platinum in the UK. Best selling album of 2014 in the UK.

Andrea Faustini & Ella Henderson – Ghost
In the video, Andrea reminds us he is a big fan of Spice Girls. We see him talking to Mel B after the Royal Albert Hall performance. Then he gets a phone call from Ella Henderson. Get that promo, Ella! She just performed this song at BBC Music Awards with Labrinth on Thursday. It’s funny to watch this knowing that Ella as former X Factor contestant didn’t make it to her season’s finale two years ago and didn’t get to sing a duet. Now she is the first former X Factor contestant to sing a duet as a celebrity guest with a finalist.

Commercial break.

Fleur East & Labrinth – Beneath Your Beautiful
The original is a duet with Emeli Sande. Labrinth is another artist from Simon’s stable – signed to SYCO.
We get another sappy video with Simon and Fleur.

The phone lines will be closing soon! RECAP! The show ends in 30 minutes!

Time for the celebration of great British jokers. Stevi Ritchie love fest! Wagner! Katie Waissel! Chloe Jasmine! Chico!
Stevi flies in on a rocket, singing “I’ve Had the Time of My Life”. Chloe joins him and then …. Man, Chloe Jasmine is a crappy singer.
DIVA FEVER! WAGNER or bongos, rapping some will.i.am crap. CHICO! Katie Waissel! … To be honest, this is the best performance of the night! Where is the phone number to vote for Wagner and Stevi Ritchie?!

5 minute warning!

Next, Ed Sheeran performs “Photograph”. His album is selling like hotcakes in the UK. Vocally this performance is weak as hell, but who cares really.

The Results:

TOP 2: Fleur East & Ben Haenow
3rd place finisher: Andrea Faustini

Simon Cowell is the winning mentor of this year’s X Factor.

The battle continues tomorrow. The phone lines reopened.

Not actually the final and no X Factor in sight… It could only be the X Factor final, BY JIM SHELLEY
It was not a classic but a typical night on the X Factor, the show that somehow still manages to be simultaneously extraordinary and so utterly average it is mundane.

It was billed as ‘the final’ – the only final where one of the three contestants is eliminated and the winner is revealed the next day after another round.

Still, we now know the final final will be between Fleur East – an infectious but less interesting or impressive vocalist than several previous failed X Factor hopefuls (Misha B, for example) – and crying van driver Ben Haenow.
