X Factor Hopeful, Carlito Olivera Former Menudo Member

Carlito Olivero, the young man who auditioned for X Factor with a soulful rendition of Rihanna’s “Stay” is not a stranger to singing competitions.

In 2007, he took part in an MTV reality series titled Making Menudo. He won a spot in the reconfigured latin boy band. But the group didn’t stay together long, disbanding in 2009. Our friend, Joey Guerra, covered the series for The Houston Chronicle. Read his recap HERE.

Making Menudo moved to an afternoon timeslot after the show didn’t perform well in prime time.

You may remember Menudo as the hispanic answer to New Kids on the Block back in the 80s. Ricky Martin was one of the many who rotated through the band over the years.
