X Factor 3 Top 8 Results, Recap, Videos

Just because I’m on a tryptophan high does not mean I can’t live blog the X Factor 3 Top 8 results! Michael Buble and Demi Lovato perform.

ETA:  Just when I thought this show couldn’t turn into more of a train wreck. Welp. Paulina is a terrible judge. She’s a horrible mentor, and as her huge gaffe illustrated, when she mixed up Carlito and Josh during the bottom 2 performance introduction, she’s not all together there.  Simon wussing out and sending the decision to deadlock rather than ditching Rion, who is clearly the inferior talent vs. Josh. Has impending fatherhood made him lose his nerve? Sure, he would have been responsible for sending a 13 year old disabled girl home. But somebody has to make the tough decisions, and it should have been him. It’s hard to believe FOX would consider renewing this show.

Another double elimination tonight. Look at Simon Cowell slipping into his seat late.

Honda sponsored a holiday family reunion for the contestants. The finalists believed they were going to wardrobe, but it was actually a big dinner, including members of the finalists’ families that flew in from everywhere.  THANKS TO HONDA PRODUCT PLACEMENT. Look at those ginormous turkeys. One of the Restless Road dudes proposes a toast “To my newwww family.”  While Jeff Gutt was going on and on about how his son couldn’t be there….his son surprises him! Wait…Jeff has a son? Just kidding.

The final 8 take the stage to ruin sing “Somewhere Only We Know.” Ugh. Restless Road still can’t sing together.  I never realized how nasally Lillie McCloud’s voice is.

Each of the family units wish viewers a Happy Thanksgiving in the commercial bumpers. Can Simon possibly keep things warm and fuzzy for the next 60 minutes? I’m thinking not.

The first act is about to leave the competition!

The 8 final acts take the stage. And the act leaving RIGHT NOW IS….Lillie McCloud!!!!!! Happy Thanksgiving Lillie! ETA: I forgot about Lillie sassing Simon back when he criticized her performance Wednesday night. That could have led to her demise.

Lillie McCloud is eliminated!!!!

Demi Lovato performs “Neon Lights” and she’s a little bit shouty there.

Honda couldn’t scrape up some family members to fly out for Alex & Sierra? There they are, wishing us a Happy Thanksgiving all by themselves. They’d probably respond: WE ARE EACH OTHER’S FAMILY. Co-dependency is us.

Results! The first act safe and through to the Top 6 is…Carlito Olivero. Ellona Santiago is next. Alex & Sierra are safe. Jeff Gutt is also safe. Rion Paige and Josh Levi, the two youngest contestants, will have to sing for their lives.

Safe

Carlito Olivero
Ellona Santiago
Alex & Sierra
Restless Road

Rion Paige and Josh Levi will sing for their lives!

Aw. Mario’s daughter, Gia is with him. She’s darling.

Michael Buble takes the stage to sing “It’s a Beautiful Day.” Snap those fingers, dude.

Paulina wishes us a “Happy Thanksgibbing” Lulz forever.

Rion Paige – “Perfect” –  Rion defiantly struts up to the mic. Daggers are coming out of her eyes. Rion’s vocals are dicey. Lot’s of pitch problems. It’s an emotional performance, which will win her points. But I think they see potential in Josh. I bet they keep him.

Paulina LULLLZZZZZ. She just made a huge introduction for….the wrong person. Carlito Olivero, when it’s actually Josh in the bottom 2. Is she high? Or just not paying attention. She gets the Paula Abdul “complete inability to wing it without looking like an idiot” award.

Josh Levi – When I Was Your Man – JOSH is performing well. Better than Rion. He’s really effective on big ballads.

Paulina looks super embarrassed when the camera cuts to her. In reference to her mistake, Mario reminds the audience that the competition is not only stressful for the contestants, but for the judges as well.

Judgement time arrives.

Rion stomps out onto the stage with a crazed look on her face and literally YELLS at the judges. SHE’S FIGHTING AND SHE’S UP THERE TO SHOW EVERYBODY HOW GREAT THE LORD IS AND HOW SHE LOVES TO SING. And you better not eliminate her, or she’ll come back and kill you. Seriously. She’s scary.

Demi hates that we’re doing this on Thanksgiving. She’s sending home Josh Levi
Paulina also says it’s not cool for Thanksgiving. Paulina also looks like she’s about to stab someone’s eyes out. She’s sending home Rion Paige.
Kelly admires that the two young singers know who they are. She’s sending home Rion Paige.
Simon thinks they are both ready for the music business. He doesn’t think either belongs in the bottom 2. Simon makes a big dramatic deal about making a decision. OH. He sends it to deadlock!

The act who got the lowest number of votes is leaving the competition. And it’s Josh Levi!

Josh Levi is eliminated.

I would have sent Rion home. Josh has more potential than Rion, and his singout was better.  Frankly, Rion has pitch problems. Josh is the more polished performer.  Simon is probably afraid, that if he eliminates her, Rion will come and kill him in his sleep. A dead horses head maybe. Seriously, I have no idea what’s going on there. Maybe Simon doesn’t want to be responsible for sending the girl with disabilities home.

Lillie McCloud and Josh Levi are eliminated!
