I like the dance beat of the song.

This promo is basically ripped off from all the Idol commercials. Although I suppose there really aren’t that many unique ways to advertise a reality singing competition.

It’s nice promo for Melanie’s single, though.

Yes…continue to promote a song that is still not on itunes…and won’t be for another 3 weeks.

  • blackberryharvest

It might be more the way Fox edits the commercials.

  • Kirsten

I think Cowell is an a$$, but I have to appreciate how he is going all out to promote his acts. This may not make the song a hit, but at least he is putting his money where his mouth is and trying something.

A heck of a lot better than some of the other singing competitions out there…

The song is kinda catchy after hearing it a few times.

This promo will have as much impact to Melanie Amero career as a million dollar Pepsi Superbowl commercial!

Its catchy & radio friendly; all the best to Melanie :)

  • fuzzywuzzy

I think that the song was chosen because it fit the promo for the X-Factor.  ;)

  • Latin2

I am really glad that the X-Factor used Melanie’s song for the promo and is trying to promote her on this. I really think it fits and is very catchy.

based on the X Factor model here inthe UK, I expect that Melanie will start to get a slew of promo over the next few weeks… Cowell will want to demostrate that its all about the winning… prepare for Melanie overload…. you have been warned

He is not promoting his act; he is promoting his show.  She is incidental.

He is not promoting his act; he is promoting his show.  She is incidental.

There are a gajillion songs out there. There are thousands that would have been better to promote the show than her song.

His primary purpose may have been to promote his show, but at least he’s throwing Melanie a bone by using her song.

How many times could Idol or the Voice have used a song from a former contestant, but have not? Over an ad or a montage or something (Idol does do this sometimes). The Voice has gone on record that they don’t care if they get a superstar and have demonstrated this lack of caring quite successfully. Cowell may just want to generate a superstar to promote his show, but I can’t criticize the guy for going out of his way to fulfill the promise these shows implicitly make to the contestants.

As the Chevy ad featuring “We Are Young” showed earlier this year, sometimes a song can catch from being used in an ad. At least it is an attempt. Coweel could have just used Katy Perry’s “Firework” like everybody else does.

The song is incidental.  The drumbeat is good.  The punchline is “five million dollars”.  If I didn’t already know about the show, it could get me to watch.
