Kelly Clarkson continues to top the AC chart, Carly Rae is making moves and yet another UK XF contestant lands on the US charts.

Original Idol Kelly Clarkson has milestones with two songs. “Stronger”, her second single from her current album of the same name, continues to rule the AC charts. Meanwhile, her third single, “Dark Side” went top 30 on Pop. The songs is currently charting on 3 formats.

Carrie Underwood is also having success with her second single and title track. “Blown Away” has quickly raced up the Country charts and is in the top 40 in that format. Carrie rarely fails to reach the top of the Country chart and with a song that currently has the highest bullet on Country radio (by 166 spins), I can see this song going very far indeed.

Michael Lynche rounds out the list of American Idols achieving milestones this week. His “Who’s Gonna Love You” gives this Season 9 fourth place finisher his first top 30 hit on UAC.

The third place Canadian Idols rack up 4 milestones this week. Carly Rae Jepsen reaches top 20 on Rhythmic with her break-through song, “Call Me Maybe”. Her follow-up song with Owl City, “Good Time” is not wasting time either. The song has gone top 20 on Pop and top 40 on HAC this week. Hedley, a band created by CI’s Jacob Hoggard, charts in the top 50 on HAC with “Kiss You Inside and Out”.

The UK XFactorers continue to have much more luck on the charts than their American cousins. This week, it is Olly Murs achieving a milestone. This behatted runner-up from Season 6 has had a lot of success in the UK, so he’s trying his luck with “Heart Skips a Beat” in the US. The song achieved top 50 on Pop this week.

I can understand gifting a CD to someone you’ve befriended on the boards and who cannot buy it locally or can’t afford it

I can to, but those types of exchanges are rare when we look at the gifting campaigns for the Idols from every season and for other artists. As I stated in my earlier post:
I’ve seen Twitter campaigns from fans of every Idol where fans are hooking up gifters and receivers like crazy and there isn’t even a hint of “for so and so who can’t afford a CD” in any of the tweets. The tweets are simple “I have someone who wants a gift” or “I need a gifter” for some random tweeter that no one even knows! All of the fan bases are simply trying to increase the numbers.

Although it’s become normal practice in the bubble, I have a harder time understanding gifting to strangers as fellow fans.

I agree and stated in my earlier post that it is something that I’ve personally never done or will ever do. There are far more fans of every Idol who don’t get involved in these useless campaigns than do get involved, but here we are discussing the small percentage of fans again.

But why care so much about an artist you don’t know personally that you would waste your own money like that?

I have no idea, but gifting, in all its various forms, is something that has happened for years and years and will continue in the future. We just seem to have major discussions about it from time to time like it is something new or unusual, and it’s not.

Well when he decided to go to NCSU instead of a Nashville based school,  I think radio looked at Scotty and said he is only a part time country singer. I do not recall him doing a radio tour like all new country artists do so I feel they will not play him as long as  he does not play the radio game.  Country music today is all about politics from labels to radio stations.

I see. They don’t think he’s being serious enough about his music or else he’d have picked Nashville. Thanks for the explanation.
