Monday Morning Mediabase Update: April 35-May 1

A whopping 10 achievements to run through this week on the Monday Morning Mediabase report.

This week, reality singing competitors top 3 charts – one from each major reality singing competition. X-Factor’s Zayn continues at the top of the Pop chart for a second week while Idol auditioner Lauren Daigle dominates the CAC chart for another week. The new addition this week is Cassadee Pope whose duet Chris Young rises to the top of the Country chart. I believe that this is the first time that a contestant from The Voice has topped an airplay chart. Chris Young is also a reality singing show competitor having won Nashville Star.

Zayn adds another milestone to his list this week as “Pillowtalk” goes top 10 on Rhythmic. His fellow X-factorers from another franchise have three milestones this week as well. Fifth Harmony goes top 5 on Pop and Rhythmic with “Work from Home”. The song also moves into the top 30 on HAC.

From Idol, we have another two milestones. On Country, Season 4 winner Carrie Underwood goes top 20 on Country with “Church Bells”. Nick Fradiani, winner of Season 14, debuts on the Pop chart this week with “Get You Home”

Finally, we have Melanie Martinez from The Voice going top 40 on Pop with “Pity Party”.

Billboard reports the numbers for the top 10 on the BB200 and Beyonce takes it in a walk. Her “Lemonade” stand moved 653K equivalent albums (485K in pure sales). This is her 6th number one album. “Lemonade” also has the best sales week of 2016 (for now – Drake will break that this week).

Prince gets 5 of the top 10 slots: “The Very Best of Prince” (2, 391K/216K 118%/116%), “Purple Rain” (3, 150K/133K 117%/113%), “The Hits/The B-Sides”) (4, 106K/56K 159%/134%), “Ultimate” (6, 40K/37K 319%/317%), 7 “1999” (36K/33K 154%/149%). Seventh is a new chart peak for “1999” and “Ultimate” becomes his 19th album to be in the top 10 on the BB200.

Rihanna’s “Anti” slips in amongst the royalty for 5th, A$AP Ferg debuts in 8th, Chris Stapleton is 9th and Justin Bieber hangs in for 10th.
