I think it’s gonna be Kimberly’s year. She could go big with this on the radio. Does she have a supportive label? And this record is “no-Randy” zone — right?

Awful singing compared to how she was on Idol, but she looks beautiful with blond hair, and she is kept busy with projects. She’ll be fine. After hearing this year’s gals, I’m more critical of her.

What big hit single? Is this song doing well on the charts? I’ve yet to hear it on the radio. And Kimberly doesn’t sound good here. Sorry!

Hit single … LOL!!! There aren’t enough words to decribe how awful that was. She better hope they haven’t filled her job yet on the TV Guide Network.

That was rough. I feel bad for Kimberly cause the song is good, and she’s a decent singer.

She’s a beautiful girl, but she just doesn’t have a very good voice. She sounds pretty awful here; maybe she was sick, because those opening low notes are not really notes at all. Studio voice is better (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTzdikDzk5U), but it’s jus’ aw’ight for me for you, and I wouldn’t buy it. Still, I hope she does well with this — it’s been seven years since her season, and this is obviously what she’s wanted to do all along.

Yikes! What key did they start off in? It’s like they thought the dude from Crash Test Dummies was going to be performing with them and not Kim.

I heard the studio version previously, and thought it was fine, so I wasn’t going to listen again till I saw all the comments. Oh MY. One gets used to thinking that people from Idol can sing live, as opposed to say, some other people – but unfortunate things went really wrong with that appearance, no comparison to the studio version at all.

Still, I hope she does well with this — it’s been seven years since her season, and this is obviously what she’s wanted to do all along.

Yes, this – I also hope she does well, and although it wasn’t to her advantage, this live appearance ought not to impact that possibility.

The verses were downright painful, Kimberley was so flat and they were obviously too low for her. She sounded fine once she wasn’t singing so low. That’s something she’s got to listen back and adjust for her next live performance.

I didn’t like her on her season of AI and I see now that opinion hasn’t changed. That was horrible. Sorry, I guess smoking is affecting her voice too.

Yikes. And I actually think that there is a backing track during the chorus, and it still sounds painful. I’m still rooting for her though.

I wish Kim well, but her voice sounds “shot” in this vid. I have heard her sound really really good in other vids though.

I hope she didn’t wait too long to put out a cd. One thing I’ve learned about Idol viewers, is that their attention span is very short, save for the diehard fans.

She singing so low, this really doesn’t sound good. She definately does not sound like she did on Idol. I really don’t know WTF this!!! lol

Seven years wait – for that mess? Absolutely horrible. I kind of liked her when she was on Idol, although I think she’s someone with way more personality than voice. I’m sure they cleaned her voice up in the studio with all the electronic tools available now, but that doesn’t mean she deserves a successful singing career. IMHO, I think she’s better sticking with the hosting job.

LOL. Except his voice is higher and less gravelly. So sad. I read on her twitter that she couldn’t hear herself at all on the first verse.

So much for Mess of You, how bout, its just a mess.

Wasn’t she supposed to have some sort of reality show?

That’s exactly what I thought … but didn’t want to type it!.

In other news, Kris Allen was on Ellen also … via the red carpet at Elton John’s party.

Her lower register is awful. She sounded like a bear grunting. Her higher register is scratchy and gravelly and not in an artistic fashion.

Epic cake wreck.

I thought she sounded ok except at the very beginning which was too low to make out. She still looks a bit robotic facially when singing. No idea if it’ll work out for her but good luck.

i think the sound mix is way off in that studio. You couldn’t even hear her in the beginning. It got better later on.

In her defense, she said she couldn’t hear in the beginning on her twitter. Also, for some reason, I think it’s in a lower key than the original…. which wasn’t a very good choice. She’s sounded much better doing this live elsewhere.
