Joshua Ledet is finally out on his promo tour in New York City after his elimination in 3rd place. He stopped by Live! With Kelly today and proceeded to basically KILL an acoustic rendition of “It’s A Man’s Man’s Man’s World” with Michael Orland on piano.

Kelly Ripa and co-host, Martin Short chatted with Joshua beforehand about his time on Idol, his elimination and more.

” I have one of those three copies….best Elliott album yet”

Yeah, I have one, too. (maybe he sold a few more than three)  I liked his earlier albums but this one is truly great, to me.

That’s partly why I wonder, though. Elliott has so far gotten absolutely nowhere with an old-school album that pretty much everyone who hears it says is quite strong. So would they even blend any such feel into a Joshua album or do they look at sales like Elliott’s (who, granted, is an indie with no ability to do legal payola, among other things …) and say — No way?

I can envision a Joshua album that has soul feeling plus some contemporary edge — but the album I envision has great songs on it, of course. I suppose that’s the real problem.

I don’t know if I’ve ever wanted someone from this show to succeed more so than I do Joshua. He’s just so talented. I know he got alot of flak for all the standing O’s but I really do feel like he’s top 5-10 singers this show’s ever seen, IMO.

The track record for pretty much all non-finale participants is mega discouraging, but we can dream Joshua! We can dream!

WOW!  My body is a goosie village!

Amazing. Love this guy. Wish him all the success in the world. What a talent…

I haven’t experienced that kind of raw emotional reaction to a singer since Teddy Pendergrass.  Luther Vandross had it too, but in a more sublime way.
Josh is like Teddy, Al Green, with a little Luther.

Makes you just go crazy…in a good way.

I have a feeling that when I go to the AI tour and experience Josh live I’ll truly understand why JLo lost her shit with him every week lol  As amazing as I think he is I cant even fathom how insane he is live.

What can I say that hasn’t already been said?  I mean, the audience clapping halfway through the performance shows you something right there.  I’m just sitting here, shaking my head, pretty much speechless.  That is how it is done.  And I hope they don’t screw him over during the album process with songs that don’t fit him and all that other nonsense.

The sky’s the limit for this kid!  I am constantly just blown away by his level of talent and his natural performance skills.  I just can’t get enough of him.  I am so excited and looking forward to where he goes in his career.  I think many, many good things are in his future!

“WOW! My body is a goosie village!”

    ______________

Well, it takes a village to raise a Joshua …    ;^D

    Hi everybody,

I’ve been lurking on and off for years, and I finally just have to post, lol. I love Joshua so much. He’s in my top 3 or 4 idols of all time, including Elliott Yamin, David Cook, and maybe Haley. The fact that Josh didn’t make top 2 worries me to no end. He needs promo more than anything, and I’m not sure they budget for anyone who lands outside of top 2. Man, what a waste if they don’t give him the best chance possible.

Josh deserves the best push 19/Jimmy/whoever can afford, because this guy is not your everyday talent. I can only hope that his alleged facebook post about signing a “huge deal” is accurate. Why have we not heard anything official yet? And what might a “huge deal” entail? We already know they’ve restructured the finalists’ contracts to allow for a non-album, singles-only deal to be possible. What does “huge deal” mean to Joshua … if that rogue facebook announcement is even true?

P.S. I’m totally in with the the Toronto crew at the Idols Live show in August! :D

My Lawd.  I’m with you Trina-I MUST hear Josh live.  I’m buying a ticket to the summer tour just to hear that voice in person.

    Lord. Lord Lord Lord.

This is the 3rd time I’ve heard Joshua sing this song and the tears started right on cue anyway. And I’m *still* sniffling. It’s just an amazing thing to see (hear, feel) how he takes charge of this brilliant, beautiful song and goes straight for the heart (guts, soul) of the audience.

I want SOUL music, not R&B Pop stuff; those of a certain age know what I’m talking about.

Oh hell yes. Yes, PLEASE. (Though I also think (hope!) that if R&B Pop stuff is all that’s available, with the right song, he will still find his audience and all the success he deserves.

    Good Lord he is good.
I have been trying to force my way-too-hip-to-watch-Idol 20-something son to find some Idol that he likes for years. This year I played him the Adam Lambert clip from Idol – his rxn: “His album got good ratings on metacritic but the song – meh. I wouldn’t download it.” I played him Hayley Reinhart thinking at least he would find her er…compelling. Rxn: “Yeah she’s hot but that is a totally lame video. No guy my age is going to go for that. She is too blatant. If she is going to go for sexy she has to have a sense of humor about it like Niki (Minaj).” I played him Phil Phillips “home” and for the first time EVER he said, “that song is really really good. I would download that song and I would want to hear more from that artist. The song is good.” Wow, I was surprised. Then I played him Joshua Ledet and for the first time ever he said, “that guy is really really good.” He didn’t like the song necessarily but Joshua stood out to him and that has never happened in all the years I’ve tried to force him to say someone was good. He doesn’t listen to Joshua’s style music. He is into Indie rock, hip-hop, rap and pop. But he would go see Josh.
    I think I would too. He’s good.

Now here’s a guy I’ll be rooting for and buying music from.

Forget top 5-10, I’ve been watching since S1 and Joshua is the best singer/performer, ever. Better than Kelly, Ruben, Fantasia, Carrie… all of them.

Josh is amazing!!  I am retired living on a fixed income and would have to travel to see him but I am seriously thinking of making the sacrifice.  I really want to see him live.  Maybe I will wait until he does his own tour.

Joshua is one in a gazillion. Can’t stop listening to his songs & KNOW his 1st album will be superb like him. He will be HOT on Broadway, on stage singing, in
a movie etc etc. Totally gifted. Never seen anyone DO IT ALL…..!!!
