Jessica Sanchez is pretty frank in her interview with Michael Slezak for his Idology series. The 16 year old is self possessed in a way that would have come across as a little cocky to some Idol viewers if she had totally been herself on the Idol stage. I would say the girl was caught between a rock and a hard place.
One thing she makes perfectly clear? She is NOT the next Celine Dion! She sings ballads, but she is not a balladeer. Her words. not mine. She became increasingly frustrated with some of the song picks towards the end of the competition, but did the best she could with what she had to work with. Plus, she’s not down with Jimmy Iovine’s critique of the lyrical content of the songs she performed. She feels that if she didn’t write the tune, all that matters is that she’s able to convey the emotion convincingly.
Jessica is looking forward to putting out the kind of music that reflects who she is as an artist on her debut album.
