HOLY COW. Jennifer Hudson performed her signature tune, “And I Am Telling You” from Dreamgirls with the Boston Pops on the Esplanade in Boston for the city’s huge 4th of July fireworks celebration. The performance was televised live on CBS. Barely!

Thunderstorms had moved into the area, and for a time the Esplanade was cleared. But lucky for us, the crowd was let back in and the show went on.

Kudos to Jennifer and Keith Lockhart and the Pops for a FANTASTIC performance! Oh. Jennifer also sang “Feeling Good,” but I’m feeling some Weight Watchers burn out on that one.

    She sounds a little different here than in the movie.  She’s a bit high pitched. But I’m glad she is having a great singing career.

    Jen’s performance here indicates that it was the director of the movie who got an Oscar-winning performance out of her.  To expect her to live up to his inspiration is unrealistic.  Now she simply sings like a conventional screaming Diva.
