Matt Giraud and Michael Sarver are both hard at work on their post-Idol careers.

Matt is currently   in Nashville, set to write with some award winning songwriters, including Monty Powell who won Songwriter of the Year at the recent SESAC awards, and Marcus Hummon. Plus, Matt is recording a song for a duets album. He tweeted today:

This album I’m working on will have some amazing legendary and contemporary artists like ray price and Rascal Flatts, and me!! excited! It’s a duet album with a jazz singer named Anna Wilson. Gonna be great. Even bigger names to come. I’m singing the tune “You Don’t Know Me”

Anna Wilson’s website HERE. Next Saturday (Nov. 21) Matt performs at the Cornerstone Church in Caledonia MI, 3:30 and 7:30 pm.

And Michael Sarver tweeted some good news today about his upcoming single to be released by Dream Center/Universal records:

My single will be released on iTunes on December 8th. Very cool. I am blessed. The single is called You Are and a bonus track will be released on the same day called Cinderella Girl!

I wrote You Are and Co-wrote Cinderella girl with the incredible Dave Hanley. We decided to do something a little extra and out of the ordinary by releasing a second song for those that like the up tempo. :)

Michael will be selling a CD version of the single/bonus track, plus NEW merchandise when he hits the road with Alexis Grace, David Hernandez and Gina Glocksen on the American Stars for the Holidays tour, beginning December 2 in Lakeland, FL.

Looks like Matt’s in good hands & is doing great things even w/ out a deal. I can’t wait to hear his own music. He’s been working w/ some really great people. Michelle Featherstone is another writer he’s worked with. I gotta feeling he’s gonna be putting out some very good music.

    Yay Matty and Michael !!!
I’m so happy for them. I think Matt is working hard and trying to do the things he needs to, to stay in our line of vision. I really don’t understand why he is not signed?????
He strikes me as enthusiastic with skills for networking, and the all important work ethic. What a gift to have such great piano skills without any training.
Hopefully they will send snippets to Mjs!!!!

I LOVE Matt Giraud. He really deserves to get his music out there. I hope he is successful.

  • csprof

Way to go, for both of them.

I sure hope that duet Matt describes is released as a single. I listened to Anna Wilson’s music, and I really can hear their voices blending together.

In a way I think it has been good for Matt to take things a little slower and not rush into a record deal. I doubt he would ever have made this trip to Nashville, for example, if he were already signed, and it sounds like he is making some amazing connections. And maybe we’ll have some new music from this duet!

Can’t wait for the videos next weekend from his sold-out show!

  • TwigLA

This is really good news for Matt. A duet with Anna Wilson should be awesome. I’ve heard her work and it’s stellar. It will be nice if Matt gets some gigs at the various Jazz Festivals. He’s also got some great writing partners.

I think Matt’s problem is not his lack of talent; he has that in bucket loads. It’s his penchant for being a bit too goofy in an awkward way that make people not take him as a serious artist. I have similar complaints about Kris and being a bit too laid back and not present in some interviews.

I think Matt is taking the right steps to establish himself as an artist. The label signing will come once he’s worked out who he is and the people that matter know that.

Good for Michael that he has 2 songs coming out on iTunes. I wish him well.

  • jammasta

So admirable, it seems like every one of them is working on an album from everyone’s tweets, although we haven’t heard much from Megan, Lil, or Scott. Wonder if it has anything to do with what Chris Sligh said.

  • SparklesATL

What is going on with Lil? Anyone know?

She even seemed do disappear during the tour. Did she just leave the whole music thing behind and return to the simple life?

  • crys

I dunno TwigLA. I don’t think Matt’s personality has nothing to do w/ why he’s not signed. His personality is very refreshing, & he always keeps it interesting, which is something I think would be beneficial. I mean he has obviously impressed some very well respected people in the music world.

When it comes to his music, he’s very serious. THIS is why I think he’s not signed just yet because of his unwillingness to sell out & make bad music just for the sake of being signed. He’s unwilling to compromise himself as an artist & I totally respect him for that. He’s said plenty of times that he’s looking for the RIGHT deal. I see him as a smart guy w/ a good head on his shoulders & I think he’ll be just fine.

I am happy that Matt is doing all this networking in Nashville and also recording a duets album.

At this point in time, I am also clueless as well as why Matt is not signed YET? Honestly if Michael can get a record deal Matt should have been signed months ago.

Maybe Matt is still trying to define himself as an artist.. I dunno.
Once he gets there, I am sure he will be signed. I just hope it’s not too late in the game when people may forget about him.
He has loads of talent and deserves promo and backup of a label IMO. Crossing fingers it happens for him next year.

I am so excited for Matt! This is a great opportunity for him and I know the song will be amazing. It’s the perfect song for him. I agree with Crys Matt is very serious when it comes to his music and I think he is waiting for the right deal that will allow him to put out music he is proud of. If that deal never happens then he is doing the right things. He is making some great connections and I know he will continue to do so. People fall in love with him when they get to see him perform live just like the people he is working with now did. Matt will have a very successful career and will put out amazing, meaningful, good quality music that will be respected and that he and his fans can be proud of.

Yay one more week and we will have new Matt music! Can’t wait!

Lil was tweeting a while ago about hopes for an album early next year. She doesn’t seem to get the twitter thing, this is actually her last tweet from weeks ago:

    Saturday, October 31, 2009, 10:23:16 AM
IDOLLILROUNDS: Good Morning tweeters…..I have some exciting news and if all goes well I may have a new single and album out by the beginning of nxt year!

I wonder if Michael will have done any fine-tuning of his song from the version we heard before when he sang it at the LA Dream Center. Will he leave that “kerosene” line in there, for example?

ImMattGiraud: Having a great time in the studio! So excited about this track I’ve ALWAYS wanted to record a jazz duet. I grew up loving Louis and Ella.

Great for Matt. I’m soooooo confused though. He wants to record rock-ish songs like The Fray, but he’s cowriting with country music songwriters and is recording for a jazz album. I actually like that he’s got such wide interests, but the music industry might need more clarity from him on where he’s trying to fit in.

I am so excited to hear this great news from Matt! You can just hear the excitement in his tweet! It has been hard waiting for Matt to get signed and to come out with new music. But, actually I think his going to different places and working with musicians across various genres is great exposure and a wonderful learning experience for him. Matt himself says he loves all types of music and his tweets about what he is listening to shows that. Getting signed will come sooner or later, right now Matt is going to put out new, great music. It makes me happy that he is pursuing his dream and that his future in music looks bright indeed.

  • KG

I am thrilled that Matt is making the most of post-Idol opportunities that are coming his way. He is one artist that can dabble in different types of music, adapt his style to it, and it comes out gold! I think he’s one smart guy and will do just fine. I kinda like his goofy, fun, personality. But like someone mentioned earlier, when it comes to his music he is very focused and serious. That’s the best of both worlds in my opinion. :-)

  • ianaleah

Matt is quite witty, creative and multi-talented. I absolutely see him having life long success in the entertainment industry.
And I’m happy for the new of Michael’s singles being released.
The ‘Idols’ who can write songs will always have income anyway.

    Go Matty G!
Hope his music is good and does well! I loved him on the live tour.
I came for Adam ONLY, but came out deeply impressed with Matt!

    Good luck!

  • jaimej40

Wow. I had not heard that Matt was writing with Michelle Featherstone. If that is true, it is awesome news. I love her song It’s My Mistake. Should make for very interesting music.

  • csprof

jaimej40, Matt wrote a song with Michelle Featherstone called “I Will Carry You” around the beginning of October. I’m hoping he’ll sing this song at his concert next weekend and 3DoorsDownFan will get a video!

Here are some comments from Michelle’s twitter account:

    @M_Featherstone:

  • crys

He also said on his live chat that he wrote a song w/ Michelle Featherstone called “Motel”

  • OvenMitt

Yes! Thank you MJ for putting up some more Matt info!

I basiclly agree with most of what is being said here: Matt is an uber-talented, charismatic guy who is doing an outstanding job of networking. He’s doing exactly what he has stated he wants to do: gain respect in the music community. I think he’s really found his creative niche, working with all these accomplished songwriters. And, as much as I want him to have been signed yesterday, I think he’s in a good place right now. If he was under contract, he may have been missing these awesome opportunities, being relegated to working with only the writers and producers his label wanted for him. Silver lining……
