Joshua Ledet offers advice for upcoming New Orleans ‘American Idol’ auditions – In search of another Joshua Ledet or Jovany Barreto, “American Idol” will stage an open casting-call audition in New Orleans on Tuesday (July 17). Ledet, of Westlake, La., is the supernova gospel-and-soul singer who survived to the top three of “Idol’s” most recent season, won by Georgia singer-songwriter Phillip Phillips. From Harvey, Barreto was one of 37 hopefuls passed on to the show’s Hollywood round the last time “Idol” held auditions in New Orleans, in July and October 2010. – Read more at NOLA.com

‘American Idol’ Alums Bucky Covington, Kellie Pickler Reunite for ‘Dukes of Hazzard’-Themed Video – Covington said it didn’t take much coaxing to get his old friend to portray the role. He called her directly and she was up for the challenge. “The director did not have to tell Kellie how to be sexy,” Covington, 34, told Idol Worship. “If anybody could give Jessica Simpson a run for her money, it’s Kellie.” – Read more at Hollywood Reporter

Genius in the Making: Interview With ‘Beauty and the Beat’ Creator Todrick Hall – By now, you’ve heard of the Disney parody that has everyone talking about, “Beauty and the Beat.” I, myself, loved it so much that I told everyone who would hear it that they had to watch the video. It was truly genius in every sense of the word and I believe we are in the midst of someone with a great future. I’ve interviewed everyone from Hugh Hefner and Stan Lee to Fergie and Enrique Iglesias, but I have not been this excited about interviewing someone or worked this hard to hunt anyone down for an interview before. I simply had to know, who was this genius that created this video? The answer? Former American Idol semi-finalist and YouTube star, Todrick Hall who has since gone on to create a YouTube channel with hundreds of thousands of subscribers. – Read more at the Huffington Post

‘Smash’s’ Megan Hilty: ‘I’d Like to Duke It Out’ With Jennifer Hudson – Jennifer Hudson is boarding as Veronica, a Tony-winning Broadway star who impacts the lives of Karen and Ivy. Have you worked with her before? What was your first reaction to the casting? How much of that arc are you privy to? I hope we have an angry duet, I’d like to really duke it out with her (laughs). I just got the script for the first episode and all the music they picked, there’s going to be a lot more music; there’s at least four songs in the first episode and they’re all really great. If they keep that up, it’s going to be a great season. If I know anything about Ivy, other people’s success is a threat to her, especially the women in the business. So if I had to guess, I’d have to say that they probably don’t get along very well (laughs). – Read more at The Hollywood Reporter

Megan Hilty Talks ‘Smash’ Season 2, Jennifer Hudson – Where do you see Ivy going? How will her character evolve and change? I’m hoping that she gets it together a little bit, and that she can actually have something she can celebrate and not feel insecure about because of certain people. I’d kind of like her to get something and have it taken away again. But if she just has a moment of happiness that would be great for me! – Read more at the Huffington Post

Simon was late: http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2012/07/simon-cowell-eating-diner-late-x-factor-la-reid (He got some grits at a local diner… and apparently Britney ate his leftovers. Can totes picture it.)

Just saw Philip perform “Home” at the All-Star Game.

  • clearone

    Great job Phillip!

  • Anonymous

I think Philip sounded good tonight and the applause at the end was boisterous. I think that the song got a bit lost in the open air .

  • Anonymous

I didn’t hear any boisterous applause on my tv. It seemed rather muted, to be honest. It didn’t look like the crowd was into it. Although it is really hard to tell just by watching on tv.

  • Anonymous

Wasn’t that impressed with P2 tonight.

  • Anonymous

Phillip is not trending on twitter after that performance.

    ETA — or maybe he is… :)

  • Anonymous

Wow! You mean Simon Cowell acted like a self-absorbed asshole? Who could have ever seen that coming?

  • tucker davis

He is on my ‘United States’ trends.

  • Sparkles

Happened to turn on the TV and caught most of Phillip’s song.  I thought he sounded pretty good.
Also, just watched last night’s “Hell’s Kitchen” and saw that Lee DeWyze and Haley Reinhart were on.  Some pretty funny reaction shots.
Lastly, noticed Scotty McCreery’s MP3 CD is $2.99 on Amazon.
Now, I must start recrapping my pants off for the Chicago concert

    She loves it, lol.

is he? he isn’t showing up when I click “US trends”

weird. maybe something’s screwy with my twitter page

    oh well, no biggie

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/JKPGOWSHLKLHHRL7DORPZXZ2NI Valarie

I just checked, and P2 is not trending in the US.   What probably happened is that he is trending on ‘personalized trends’.   I didn’t even notice that twitter had automatically switched me to ‘personalized’ until I went to check for P2.   I don’t follow him, so he isn’t showing on my twitter page, and when I switch to US trends, he still isn’t showing.

  • Anonymous

so if you don’t follow someone, they wouldn’t show up on the trending feed even if he or she was trending?

  • tucker davis

His name stayed on my ‘US’ trends for about 30 minutes…or did I imagine that? lol

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/JKPGOWSHLKLHHRL7DORPZXZ2NI Valarie

What it means, is that even though someone may trend on your personalized list, they aren’t trending for the entire US.   You actually have to change mode to the US trends to see who is trending nationwide.

  • tucker davis

Actually somebody just posted a picture of it on another site…so I wasn’t delusional…at least I tell myself that!

  • Anonymous

well I switched to the US trends and he still didn’t show up for me. So, I don’t know.

But, as I say, it’s not really a big deal :)

  • http://twitter.com/eilonwya10 Eilonwy

so if you don’t follow someone, they wouldn’t show up on the trending feed even if he or she was trending?

The deal seems to be that your “personalized” trend list is based on what’s popular among the people with whom you have following relationships. So you wouldn’t have to follow P2 himself if your tweeps included a lot of people who were discussing P2.

Valarie, thanks for pointing out the change — I had no idea Twitter had switched this on me.

If most people stick with the “personalized trend” default, Twitter trending parties become pretty much useless: the “trend” won’t be visible on the personalized trend list of people outside that particular fandom.

I don’t get the whole Todrick thing. B&tB offers a couple of giggles, but it’s a poor quality and somewhat corny vid. I don’t get the hype.

  • justmefornow

Cool shot from last night’s show at Club Fever opening for Drowning Pool in South Bend, IN.
(There was a Durb at the concert who recorded the whole set, so Youtube vids to come..)

Now, I must start recrapping my pants off for the Chicago concert

    Eagerly waiting!

  • Anonymous

Sounds like their first show with Drowning Pool went really well.  I saw a tweet from James’ guitarist saying they were hungry to prove themselves last night and it went great.  The crowd must have been pretty receptive to them.

  • Anonymous

Admire Todrick – he has talent, guts, and drive.

  • justmefornow

I was curious to know how their first show went with DP too. They’re a little harder than Buckcherry, but so far, so good.
Can’t wait to see the vids Jen took!

Love how Dylan “fed off of James’ metal angst out there”. (That’s the tweet right?)
